Russia unleashed waves of air strikes on Kyiv overnight in what officials said appeared to be the largest drone attack on the city since the start of the war, as the Ukrainian capital prepared to celebrate the anniversary of its founding on Sunday.
The war between Russia and Ukraine is well into its ‘second season’, and it shows little signs of stopping anytime soon, or for that matter, even slowing down. In Ukraine, Zelensky has used the conflict to bring in over $200 billion in cash and munitions, becoming a sort of ersatz ‘celebrity‘ in the process. In Russia, Putin is doing, well, no one really knows what Putin is doing, but he’s doing a lot of it. As Ukraine prepared to celebrate ‘Kyiv Day’, Russia was pleased to provide the fireworks.

“Little Red Classrooms” Report on CCP Influence in American Schools

Parents Defending Education (PDE), a grassroots organization “working to reclaim our schools from activists imposing harmful agendas,” released a report on Wednesday that provides evidence linking the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to sponsoring affiliated educational programs to a number of American K-12 schools.
The report, titled “Little Red Classrooms,” details how 143 school districts, including 20 near military bases, have or had partnerships with Confucius Institutes to provide “Confucius Classrooms,” which are “centers that teach Chinese language and culture.”
CIA Crushed in Congo Coup

The Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly Zaire, put down a coup attempt on Sunday. Opposition leader Christian Malanga, described as a “naturalized” U.S. citizen, was killed in the fighting in the Congolese capital of Kinshasa, and at least three U.S. citizens have been arrested. Local media have accused the men of being U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agents or associates.
“An attempted coup d’etat has been stopped by the defense and security forces,” said General Sylvain Ekenge. He confirmed that “foreigners” had been involved in the putsch. Malenga’s son Marcel, a TikTok influencer who spent much of his life in the U.S., is among the putschists captured by security forces.

As one might expect, and as I alluded to in Monday’s blog (“A Bridge In Baltimore, Part One”), there have been further developments in the Moscow story, with the FSB (Federalnaya sluzhba Bezopaznosti) head Bortnikov giving a rare public press conference on the Russian intelligence agency’s developing case for deeper western involvement behind the alleged ISIS- shooters who, in very uncharacteristic Islamic-terrorist-fashion, did not commit suicide upon danger of apprehension. And of course, there is that strange remark by Victoria Nuland in January before the Russian elections overwhelmingly returned Mr. Putin to power (thanks again to V.T. and P.T. and to all the rest of you for sharing these three articles):

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, has suffered an attempted assassination. The rumor is that the assailant was pro-Ukraine. Fico’s renewed leadership as prime minister began with his halting of military aid to Ukraine in January, and just last month, he pushed through plans to crap public broadcaster RTVS. Some have accused the political opposition of inciting the attack. I have not been able to confirm the motive, but this is the talk in Slovakia.
