Assembly Bill 1840 seeks to clarify the eligibility requirements of a state loan program, notably the California Dream for All Shared Appreciation Loans program, launched in 2021 to help first-time home buyers.
The loan program provides first-time home buyers with a loan worth up to 20 percent of the purchase price of a home or condominium and doesn’t require monthly payments or accrue interest. Instead, it entitles the lender to 20 percent of the increase in the home’s value when the property is sold or the mortgage is refinanced. Arambula asserts that the legislation didn’t specify eligibility criteria concerning immigration status, which could have excluded illegals.

Within a little over a year, the city council has seen costs for feeding its illegal population surge. In December 2023, the city allocated $100,000 for a contract to provide food for its illegal aliens. By January of 2024, the food costs had increased to $475,000. Last month, the city had to pay an additional $450,000 in food costs, with another $500,000 expected to come due in June.
In total, the city has spent around $1.4 million in taxpayer dollars on the feeding of its illegal alien population. With almost 40,000 migrants arriving in the past year in response to Denver’s sanctuary city status, the city’s budgetary stress is reaching crisis levels.

But there is another mandate that could soon be required as a condition for employment and receiving government aid, and that is the mandate to not criticize or say anything negative against Israel.
In fact, there are already laws on the books in 38 states that prohibit you from receiving government contracts or public investment funds, unless you agree to not participate in any anti-Israel activities.
