As day two of former President Donald Trump’s hush money criminal trial continued, attorneys for the former president had a potential juror dismissed after they found posts calling for Trump to be put in jail.

As New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, Trump’s attorneys, and prosecutors from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office continued the process of questioning potential jurors about posts made to social media, and their private lives, Trump’s legal team had a juror dismissed over a post about Trump, calling to “lock him up.” Another social media post from the same juror reportedly said, “Get him out.”

A press release says ROC (formerly Rank One Computing), which provides U.S.-made biometrics and computer vision for military, law enforcement and fintech, is enhancing biometric systems engineering exploration at West Virginia University’s Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, as an in-kind gift to benefit future students.

The gift enables students and faculty in the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering to access ROC’s software development kit (SDK) for research and coursework in computer vision, biometrics, AI and machine learning, data science, cybersecurity and other areas. It has been made through the nonprofit WVU Foundation.

The ATF’s new re-definition of “Engaged in the Business” of selling firearms is expected to go into effect on or about May 15th. The ATF’s Final Rulemaking was announced on April 8, 2024. Ignoring the weight of public comment, and ignoring logic, this new set of rules (see text at the ATF website) could make advertising and selling just one gun at a profit without a FFL a felony criminal offense. Even worse, it shifts the burden of proof from the government to individuals. In effect, you will be assumed to be guilty unless you can prove that you made no profit. Given the ongoing onslaught of currency inflation, just breaking even after allowing for inflation could be deemed a “profit”.

On April 11, 2024, the National Association for Gun Rights published a statement manifesting its opposition to the “Engaged in Business” final rule that received its final approval from Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The rule is 466 pages long and expands the definition of when a person is deemed a firearms dealer. It will go into effect 30 days following its publication in the Federal Register.

Firearms dealers are mandated to submit ATF Form 4473 for all firearms transfers.
