Democratic Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s efforts to enact a sweeping gun-control agenda have been placed on hold by courts in June, while the state Legislature pushed back the effective date of another law.

Democratic Virginia state Sen. Saddam Salim and Democratic Virginia state Del. Dan Helmer appeared to be at odds about the provisions of a ban on modern semiautomatic firearms, reflecting an apparent misunderstanding of the law they passed.
Democratic Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger signed SB 749 into law on May 14, which would prohibit the sale and transfer of so-called “assault weapons,” as of July 1, drawing legal challenges from pro-Second Amendment organizations, including the National Rifle Association (NRA), Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC). Salim claimed during remarks to the Richmond Times-Dispatch that people could still buy popular firearms like AR-15s in other states, which would be illegal under federal law.

A man named Tyler Brown opened fire on Memorial Drive in Cambridge, Mass., this week, turning an ordinary Monday afternoon into a rolling ambush near Harvard and MIT.
Middlesex DA Marian Ryan said Brown, a 46-year-old Boston man (notice no doctor was needed to identify Brown as a man), fired roughly 50 to 60 rounds from a rifle at vehicles on the roadway. Cambridge Police described the confrontation on their website.

There’s a popular meme circulating online that relates the evolution of cultural devolutionary talking points. It goes like this:
Stage 1: “You’re crazy; it’s not happening.”
Stage 2: “Okay, it’s happening, but it’s exaggerated.”
Stage 3: “It’s happening…and it’s actually a good thing.”
Stage 4: “And if you disagree, you’re a bigot.”
We see this pattern repeated with many issues, Second Amendment rights included. In fact, say some, we’re already at Stage 3 with respect to firearm seizure. As one commentator puts it, leftists have moved on from “nobody’s coming for your guns.”
It’s not as if, though, the writing wasn’t already on the wall years ago. Just consider what late Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said about modern sporting rifles (misrepresented as “assault weapons”) back in 1995. On an episode of CBS’ 60 Minutes, she confessed:

Last week, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, which covers Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, ruled that the problem of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. is so acute and vast and the Fourth Amendment so burdensome and time-consuming that it should cut some constitutional corners. The federal judiciary is supposed to be in the business of protecting the rights of individuals from infringement by Congress or the president or the states. In this case, the court saw fit to allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, to trample the sacred American right to be left alone.

A lawsuit filed this week by California officials places online publishing itself under judicial scrutiny, asking a court to treat some shared digital files as a form of regulated weaponry rather than expressive material.
Attorney General Rob Bonta and San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu announced a civil action against Gatalog Foundation Inc. and CTRLPew LLC, accusing the two organizations of violating state law by making firearm-related computer code and instructions publicly accessible.
