Canada Moves to Criminalize Bible Under ‘Hate Speech’ Laws

A sweeping Liberal proposal that criminalizes portions of the Bible under Canada’s expanding “hate speech” regime is suddenly on the fast track after Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government secured support from the left-wing Bloc Québécois party.
Carney’s ruling Liberal Party won the backing of Bloc Québécois after agreeing to strip out the religious exemption that previously protected Scripture.
The National Post reports that the separatist Bloc is now backing Bill C-9, the Combating Hate Act, following the Carney government’s decision to remove the carve-out for religious texts.
Carney, a World Economic Forum “agenda contributor,” has made the legislation a central part of his speech-policing agenda.

When the European Commission fined X €120 million on December 5, officials could not have been clearer. This, they said, was not about censorship. It was just about “transparency.”
They repeat it so often you start to wonder why.
The fine marks the first major enforcement of the Digital Services Act, Europe’s new censorship-driven internet rulebook.
It was sold as a consumer protection measure, designed to make online platforms safer and more accountable, and included a whole list of censorship requirements, fining platforms that don’t comply.

We often hear demands to ban so-called “hate speech.” Negative remarks about various groups, including women, black people, homosexuals, Jews, Muslims, can it is alleged, have a negative effect on members of the group who hear or see the speech. It encourages people to hate them and cements negative stereotypes about them in people’s minds. In addition, hearing or seeing “hate speech” offends the members of the group. Free speech may have some value, but whatever value it has it outweighed by the evil of “hate speech.” Almost any group can claim to be victimized by “hate speech,” except for white heterosexual males and Christians, but “hate speech” applies primarily to members of so-called “protected classes.”

This past fortnight has seen an explosion of interest in free speech in the United States. First there was the political assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA. Then there was the decision by Disney (owner of the ABC TV broadcasting network in the US) to remove late night host Jimmy Kimmel from the air. A lot is going on in the name of ‘free speech’ so let me start with some facts.
Firstly, Charlie Kirk not only believed in free speech, he practised it. He would go onto college campuses, set up his desk and microphone, and debate any and everyone. And he was respectful. He heard people out. He believed in the exchange of ideas. He insisted no one be booed. And he was very good at what he did, a first-rate debater. Many outside observers attribute to Kirk and his Turning Point outfit the incredible surge in young voters’ support for Trump in last year’s Presidential election, especially amongst young men who now markedly, even mightily, lean Republican.
