President Vladimir Putin visited the Kazan aircraft plant in Russia’s Tatarstan Republic on Wednesday, inspecting four Tu-160M strategic bombers.
The nuclear-capable aircraft were significantly modernized at the plant, with up to 80% of their systems and mechanisms replaced. The modernization process effectively turns the Tu-160M into a new plane, retaining only the airframe of the iconic bomber, which was introduced in the late 1980s.

Below is a guest article by Fyodor Lukyanov that I believe captures the essence of what was learned from the U.S./Israel war against Iran, which lasted three and a half months and achieved little to nothing of lasting value for the U.S. or its allies. In fact, one could make the argument that the final outcome of the war puts Iran in a stronger strategic position than it was in before the war started. But an even bigger question is this: What will be the takeaway for other nations that once feared and respected the U.S. as a global hegemon?
