The World Economic Forum (WEF) on Wednesday released a survey that named “extreme weather” and “misinformation” as the factors most likely to trigger a global crisis in 2024.
The latest edition of WEF’s annual Global Risks Report said the world is “plagued by a duo of dangerous crises: climate and conflict.” The report was compiled by polling “nearly 1,500 global experts from academia, business, government, the international community and civil society.”

Houthi rebels have launched a “complex” missile attack in the Red Sea, continuing the war that is rapidly spiraling out of control. In one of its largest attacks to date, Yemen’s Houthis have fired dozens of missiles into the shipping lanes, but the Pentagon claims to have “repelled” the attacks.
United States Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, announced the attempted attack on Tuesday, saying that several anti-ship missiles and drones were launched “from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen into the Southern Red Sea.”

The German farmer protests started 2024 off with a bang. Last week, irate farmers prevented Germany’s Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck from getting off a ferry as he returned from vacation. This week, German farmers are taking to the highways. They have blocked Berlin’s iconic Brandenburg Gate to protest the government’s removal of the agricultural diesel subsidy. The farmers and their supporters plan to continue protesting throughout the week of January 8. And they’re not alone. Farmers in France are also protesting, and we saw last year farmers in the Netherlands protesting.

The Los Angeles Police Department is preparing to integrate private camera feeds into their extensive surveillance dragnet.
(Biometric Update) The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) intends to develop a new surveillance center that will give police centralized access to live security feeds from cameras in public and private spaces, pending budget approval from Mayor Karen Bass. The department hopes to be able to access 10,000 cameras through the city through the program, which has been dubbed LAPD Live.

I am back from my trip to south Florida, but so far, in body only. I am facing at least a week of an extreme arctic front with snow and temperatures approaching 40 below zero here in Montana. This is brutal, and apparently, ‘global warming ‘ has taken a holiday as well. I have been researching since my return, but have not written anything to publish these past three days, but alas, the world is in even more chaotic shape than it was before I left. Imagine that? So there are no worries, as finding something to write about is an easy task in such ridiculous and maddening times.

Here is my premise: People need to base their preps on correct information that is grounded in truth. The Truth is Out There, Somewhere!
Everyone that I know who does any “preparing for the future” has a specific future problem or set of problems in mind. Their plans are determined by their perception of what the threats are, how likely they are to occur, and what they might do to their world.
Our perceptions are based on the world as we see it. We see the world through information – filtered by the lens of what and how information and facts are presented to us. This lens also affects how we interpret the information presented.

Two years ago, attorney and Brownstone Fellow Bobbie Anne Flower Cox took note of the New York State executive order to permit the building and use of quarantine camps. The litigation against it is still in process. We might have supposed it was an outlying case. That, sadly, is not true.
It turns out that the first federal quarantine camp (not called that of course) constructed in one hundred years (since the Great War’s round up of Germans on US soil) was completed in January 2020 in Omaha, Nebraska. It was immediately used to house Americans kidnapped from their vacations from aboard the Diamond Princess cruise liner.
