Even a cursory glance at the history of the Earth’s climate, however, tells us that what we are experiencing now is not unusual. Indeed, we are living in a very cold time in Earth’s history, and the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is at one of the lowest levels it has ever been.

According to a study recently published in the journal Science, and latched onto by USA Today, more than 400,000 years ago, Greenland was actually green. Yes, scientists say, the massive island was an ice-free landscape and was perhaps even covered with trees.
This is important to know, avers study co–lead author Paul Bierman of the University of Vermont, because it tells us that “Greenland’s ice sheet is fragile.” Bierman stated: “All by itself, during a warm period very similar to today, the ice sheet melted away 400,000 years ago. That was without fossil fuel emissions into the atmosphere.”

We’ve been told that human-caused climate change is going to destroy the world, and the media abounds with claims of unprecedented high temperatures. A recent article in the Washington Post tells us that July 4 was the hottest day on record since at least 1979, and that “some scientists believe July 4 may have been one of the hottest days on Earth in about 125,000 years, due to a dangerous combination of climate change causing global temperatures to soar, the return of the El Niño pattern and the start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.”

Canada has been having its worst year of wildfires in history. Of he over 900 wildfires raging in Canada, 599 have been “out of control” as it has already recorded its worst year ever.
British Columbia is the worst-affected province, accounting for a third of active fires, according to CIFFC statistics. The blazes have devastated 10.7 million hectares (26 million acres) nationwide during this fire season, with over 4,200 outbreaks reported this year, according to a report by RT. The area already burned just this year is the largest since the monitor started compiling statistics in the 1980s. The previous record was set in 1995 when over 7 million hectares (17 million acres) burned out in Canada.

As if we didn’t have enough to worry about regarding climate change, such as rising sea levels, increases in extreme weather events, and out-of-control wildfires, now Canadian researchers have linked the alleged human-induced warming of the Earth due to mankind’s use of fossil fuels to increased incidences of blindness.
The study was published in Ophthalmic Epidemiology, a journal specializing in optometry, visual acuity, visual impairment issues.
