A federal vaccine advisory panel has finally broken ranks, issuing a stark public warning that the COVID-19 vaccines are not safe for everyone, voting unanimously to shift official guidance away from blanket mandates and toward individual choice amid the deadly risks they pose.
All 12 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted to update the guidance, making “individual-based decision making” the core principle, with an emphasis that the risk-benefit of vaccination is most favorable for individuals at increased risk for severe COVID-19 disease and lowest for those not at increased risk according to the CDC list of COVID-19 risk factors, for people between six months and 64 years old.
