The crisis was reported by the US Naval Institute (USNI) and the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), according to Asia Times.
Diana Maurer, Director of Defense Capabilities and Management at the Government Accountability Office, testified to the Senate Armed Services readiness subcommittee on May 1. She revealed that fewer than 40 percent of US Navy ships had completed repairs on time, despite available space in shipyards.

There is extremely limited testing of people underway to detect it. State governments and farm owners have kept Centers for Disease Control and Prevention teams from conducting on-the-ground investigations that would offer a fuller picture of the prevalence of the virus in humans.

The Daily Telegraph reported that according to a draft of the pandemic accord being negotiated at the W.H.O., richer countries should be asked to help world cope with pandemics, including giving over 20 percent of tests, treatments and vaccines for the W.H.O. to distribute in poorer countries during emergencies at its discretion.
