A Death Penalty That Applies To Palestinians Alone Isn’t Justice — It’s Bias
On Monday, Israel’s parliament passed a law establishing the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of murdering Israelis. The law’s language has been described by legal experts as confining the death penalty to West Bank Palestinians tried in Israeli military courts — a jurisdiction that explicitly excludes Israeli citizens and settlers, who are tried in civilian courts.
On the surface, this might seem justified but the implications are severely concerning. Although the legislation takes effect in 30 days, legal challenges are already underway – the Association of Civil Rights in Israel filed a petition with the Supreme Court moments after the vote occurred.

Dr. Osvaldo Villarreal, a Texas primary care doctor who has been treating children for over 14 years, said his practice grew after the COVID-19 pandemic. “It woke up a lot of parents, and they will not just simply comply.” Villarreal warned that pediatricians who refuse to treat children whose parents won’t vaccinate are “going to make themselves extinct.”
