The Ever Widening War

by Paul Craig Roberts, Paul Craig Roberts:

RT reports that the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service has concluded that the West is planning to prevent a Russian victory by sending 100,000 NATO troops to occupy Ukraine.  https://www.rt.com/russia/608376-svr-west-kiev-troops/

I doubt the 100,000 NATO soldiers will have any more success than the 600,000 dead Ukrainian ones, but the threat of deploying NATO soldiers is more proof that I was correct that Putin’s slow-moving limited military operation would provide endless time for the West to get involved and progressively widen the conflict until it is spun out of control. We are now at that point with insane Washington, Britain, and France striking Russia with missiles and planning to deploy troops.  All of this could have been avoided if Putin had done what every commander should have done and struck hard and fast to quickly end the conflict.

Zero Hedge, normally a reliable site, reports that the US Department of Defense and the NATO Secretary General claim that 10,000 to 12,000 North Korean soldiers have joined Russian forces in Kursk to help drive out the Ukrainian incursion.  https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/pentagon-warns-no-limits-ukraine-support-if-north-korea-joins-war

The Pentagon spokeswoman, Sabrina Singh, says that if these North Koreans do for Russia what French troops and NATO personnel are doing for Ukraine, the US will remove its ban on NATO firing missiles into Russia from Ukraine.

The Russian News Agency Tass reported on October 19:  “France in discussion with partners about inviting Ukraine to NATO immediately.”

This development which implies wider war is a consequence of Putin’s never ending war.  Instead of reassuring the West and BRICS by limiting the scope of the conflict, Putin has caused consternation by the opportunity he provided Washington to ever widen the conflict.  Who is going to back down?  Russia or Washington?

The Ever Widening War

by Paul Craig Roberts, Paul Craig Roberts:

The Kremlin has an amazing inability to confront reality. Peter Koenig explains that NATO has now invaded Russia by entering Kursk, and the Kremlin still pretends it is involved in a limited border conflict with Ukraine in Donbas. Indeed, the Kremlin is so far removed from reality that Russia’s leaders were incapable of imagining a NATO led and equipped force would cross into Russia herself that the Kursk region was left entirely unprotected.

I have learned from Gilbert Doctorow that there is discussion in Russia about inviting North Korean troops to enter the conflict in Ukraine in the event NATO troops are sent. The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership recently signed by Russia and North Korea allows for this.

This would further widen the conflict. Would Chinese troops be next?

I do not believe American and European soldiers would fare well against Russians and North Koreans or Chinese. What would the Americans and Europeans be fighting for except the profits of the military/security complex and Washington’s hegemonic power which is also exercised over them? The US and European governments have destroyed their own ethnic-based countries, and the immigrant-invaders who are replacing white ethnicities have no incentive to fight Russians and North Koreans. The West would have to fight the war with nuclear missiles, which is the same as committing suicide.

British Foreign Minister Says “We must go after everything Russian.”

“We will show Putin that we are completely behind Ukraine: we will chase the money and the oil, we will stop the gas, we will stop the ships,” declared British Foreign Minister Cameron.

The UK is “hunting” companies that do business with Russia “all over the world,” Cameron said. “We will sanction companies in China, in Turkey, in Kyrgyzstan, even in Israel, that we believe are supplying dual-use material” to Russia, he added.

The Ever Widening War

I have no idea why French President Macron is talking so aggressively about war with Russia, saying he will send French soldiers to Odessa and telling Russia’s President Putin “We are a nuclear power and We are ready,” or who might have put him up to taking such an aggressive position.

I have been writing for two years that Putin needs to end the conflict as the war continues to widen and will spin out of control. The way Putin has fought this conflict is a strategic blunder of the worst kind. Russia should have seized, Kharkiv, Odessa, and Kiev immediately and left the Ukrainian army trapped in the east cut off from supplies. If President Macron does put French soldiers in Odessa, Putin cannot complete the obvious military task in Ukraine without going to war with NATO.

The Ever-Widening War

by Paul Craig Roberts, Paul Craig Roberts:

It was obvious from the beginning that the Kremlin’s “limited military operation” would result in an ever-widening war leading to a nuclear confrontation, and there is no doubt that the conflict has continued to widen.

The latest development brings us closer to the use of nuclear weapons. The F-16s, which Biden said would never be given to Ukraine, have now been given, as I said would happen. Moreover, they are being given in a recklessly gratuitous form. The first shipment of F-16s are aircraft that have modifications that allow them to be armed with nuclear weapons.

“Ukraine is already a de facto member of NATO.” — Oleksii Reznikov, Defense Minister of Ukraine

If reports are correct that modern Western weapon systems are slated to pour into Ukraine–the latest US and German tanks, Patriot missile systems, and other current weaponry–Minister Reznikov is correct.

These weapons imply that Ukraine has enough soldiers left to use them.  It will require months to prepare Ukraine for these weapons.  A logistical system is necessary for the delivery, maintenance, and protection of the weaponry from Russian air and missile attack.  This will require US/NATO personnel on the ground in Ukraine if the weapons are to be effectively used.

“Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics called for NATO to allow Ukraine to conduct strikes inside Russian territory, adding the alliance should not fear Moscow’s response. The White House has resisted sending Kiev missiles with the range to hit targets inside Russia.

“During an interview on the sidelines of  NATO summit in Romania, Rinkevics stated ‘we should allow Ukrainians to use weapons to target missile sites or air fields from where those operations are being launched.’ Allies ‘should not fear’ escalation from Moscow, he added. ”

American soldiers are now in Ukraine. Allegedly, they are there only to monitor what is happening to the arms deliveries from the US and NATO countries.

As previously reported, not all of the vast amount of heavy weapons sent by the West end up on the battlefield. Instead, some find their way into the weapons market where they are sold to who for who’s profit? The same with the money, much of which ends up in unintended pockets.

The US State Department’s explanation is that the US troops are in Ukraine, not to fight, but to “assist the government of Ukraine with handling US security assistance.” In other words, to identify and stop the theft of resources meant for war against Russia.
