Right now, another narrative-shifting change is occurring, however slowly and tragically at the cost of innocent lives, when it comes to the border crisis and the significant dangers created by Democrats’ open-border, sanctuary city policies.
In January, continuing months of coverage on the ground at the U.S.-Mexico border, from the nation’s capital, and everywhere in between, our investigative reporter Mia Cathell published a revealing exposé on the effects of New York City’s embrace of sanctuary policies that has seen more than 10,000 ICE detainers defied by Big Apple authorities in recent years, meaning more than 10,000 fugitive aliens were let loose by those tasked with protecting residents and upholding law and order.
The dangers of such policies have been clear since Biden took office, but the cost of Democrat immigration policies has become even more devastating in recent weeks. NYPD officers beat up by illegal aliens in Times Square. Multiple cops in the nation’s capital shot by an illegal alien. The tragic murder of Laken Riley in Georgia allegedly at the hands of an illegal alien from Venezuela. These are just a few of the notable, foreseeable, and preventable tragedies that have resulted from the left’s radical immigration schemes.
As Guy reported last week, an “outrageous cascade of ‘progressive’ failures precipitated the murder of Laken Riley. Noting that “step after step,” the illegal alien suspect’s “lawbreaking was accommodated and indulged.” And even though he “should never have been in the US to begin with…his additional crimes came with little to no repercussions” until “he graduated to murder.”
