Former President Donald Trump has been arrested at the federal courthouse in Miami and will soon be arraigned on charges related to mishandling classified documents.
The AI-generated photo at the top of this article may be a fake, but the arrest of Donald Trump is stunningly, and sickeningly, all too real. President Ulysses S. Grant was technically the first President to be arrested—for speeding on a horse and buggy in 1872. But the arrest of Donald Trump marks the first time an American president has been arrested and charged with a federal crime. Trump, as expected, has pled not guilty to the myriad crimes he’s been charged with, and what happens from here on out will rewrite the pages our national history. There is no precedence for any of what has happened thus far, and certainly not for what will follow.

With the specter of Donald Trump sitting in jail, and possibly waiting to receive a Bible from our Bibles Behind Bars program, it is inconceivable to me the Republicans are doing nothing in regards to the Hunter Biden laptop and ‘10% for the Big Guy’. What a sorry bunch of individuals they are. There is so much graft and corruption overflowing from the Biden White House, you would have your pick of things to impeach him on, and yet, the GOP just sits and does nothing while the Democrats eat their lunch all day, every day. Trump is right about one thing though, America is irretrievably broken, and there is not a man or woman alive who can fix it. When Donald Trump ran in 2016, his rallying cry of “lock her up!” about Hillary Clinton and her illegal email server was heard everywhere he campaigned. Too bad he didn’t do it, now he is the one locked up by Clinton’s powerful friends and allies. Ironic, isn’t it?
Donald Trump and aide are under arrest at Miami courthouse
FROM CNN: Deputy marshals have booked the former president and take electronic copies of his fingerprints during Tuesday’s proceedings. They were not expected to take a mugshot of Trump, given his recognizability.
Trump’s aide and co-defendant, Walt Nauta has been arrested, fingerprinted and processed.
The criminal charges in the Justice Department’s classified documents case escalates the legal jeopardy surrounding the 2024 GOP front-runner. Tuesday’s hearing, at 3 p.m. ET in Miami, is expected to be procedural in nature. Trump will enter a plea, there will be a discussion of the conditions of his pretrial release, and it’s possible that potential restrictions around Trump’s conduct as the case moves forward are brought up.
Trump is facing 37 felony counts, alleging he illegally retained national defense information and that he concealed documents in violation of witness-tampering laws in the Justice Department’s probe into the materials. His close aide, Walt Nauta, was also charged in the indictment, unsealed Friday, which alleges the two men engaged in a conspiracy to obstruct the federal investigation. Nauta also will be appearing in court.
