A recent New York Post article declared that, in a “staggering exodus,” in 2022, more residents of New York moved to Florida “than any other year in history.” The article reveals,

A staggering 64,577 Empire Staters exchanged their driver’s licenses for the Sunshine State version last year, according to figures from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

“They come in every day,” a staffer at a Jacksonville DMV office told The Post this week with a weary laugh. “I hear all the complaints. I feel like a therapist sometimes.”

The transfer of a driver’s license from one state to another is considered a reliable metric for relocation, since such a decision suggests the move is a lasting one. The 2022 exodus from New York to Florida is a 39% increase from 2019 — the last pre-pandemic year — and an astounding 46% increase from 2017. New York is far from alone in the exodus that is plaguing America’s blue states.

Credit Suisse continued its long death spiral yesterday, losing 15.64 percent of its market value in one trading session to close at $3.02 on the New York Stock Exchange. The trading action came on the heels of an earnings report that was excruciatingly bad – even for Credit Suisse.

The Global Systemically Important Bank (G-SIB), which means it’s interconnected to other G-SIBs that could bring down the global financial system, reported yesterday that its clients had yanked over $100 billion in just the fourth quarter — which was more than eight times the outflow in the third quarter. Its pre-tax loss for the quarter was $1.51 billion, marking its fifth consecutive earnings loss.

But as I discussed in a previous article, that wasn’t what actually happened. The raw, unadjusted number showed that the U.S. economy actually lost 2.5 million jobs last month. That is a terrible number, but after the bureaucrats in Washington were done with their “adjustments” it magically became a gain of 517,000 jobs. If you want to have faith that their “adjustments” are appropriate, good for you. But other sources also confirm that things have really taken a turn for the worse. For example, Challenger, Gray & Christmas just issued a report that concluded that last month “was the worst January for job cuts since the Great Recession in 2009”…
