Jim Rogers Tells ETF-Holders “The Next Bear Will Be Horrendous”

0

from ZeroHedge:

Legendary investor Jim Rogers, who in 1973 founded the Quantum Funds, a prominent family of hedge funds, with then-unknown Hungarian-born financier named George Soros, joined RealVision’s Steve Diggle for a wide-ranging interview where the legendary financier, who moved to Singapore in 2007 with his family because he wanted his children to be immersed in Asian culture, discusses his views on gold, bitcoin, and what makes a good investor – along with his belief that a major correction in financial markets is about to begin.

The interview, which was filmed two weeks ago in Singapore, begins with a discussion of a theme in finance that’s been at the forefront of discussions about the market outlook. Many investors believe that, with volatility at record lows and valuations at record highs, a major shock is imminent. However, these same investors have been burned by uncooperative markets, as an expected selloff has yet to materialize.

Rogers said he stumbled into his first job on Wall Street, but ended up falling in love with it because it allowed him to “follow the world and know about things.”

He added that, over his investing career, Roger’s has learned that he has a tendency for his calls to be early. So now when he makes an investment decision, he waits six months before buying.

SD: How do you know the difference between being early and being wrong? Because –

JR: You teach me that, OK? I’d like to know. I’m still trying to learn.

SD: I really don’t know, either. I mean, one of the things that has confounded, I think, all of us in this most recent unprecedented rally – I mean, it’s not unprecedented in history, but the sort of things that have gone up and the level of volatility we’ve had that’s been unprecedented. The only period that I can compare it to are the late 90s, where just everything in a certain area went up. Now it was almost– at least in the States, it’s almost everything across the board. And there have been plenty of people who’ve wanted to short the FANGs, to short some of the tech stocks, to short some of these very expensive blue chips. And they’ve been very badly punched.

And then even in the face of very good mutual fund investors, people with tremendous track records like Grantham Mayo, who have moved to a higher cash position – they’ve seen massive reductions, because their own investors don’t seem inclined to stick around and see how it plays out. So both on a personal and professional level, being early seems to be incredibly painful and destructive to your business.

JR: Sure can.

SD: So if you’ve got a conviction, do you wait for a change in momentum? Do you use moving averages, which is something that I know people have been used, and I’ve used something myself, which is to wait until the 5 and 20-day diverge, and that gives you a signal that momentum’s coming out of a trade? Or do you just need to size it to a degree which you can be persistent?

JR: Well, I usually – since I know I’m always early, I make a decision and then wait, and just make myself wait a month, six months, whatever it happens to be. And I’m still too early. I’m still too early nearly always, because I make the decision too soon, I realize. So maybe I better start making the decision later in life. Sometimes, you just have to throw in the towel. Especially on the short side, you have no choice. If they’re just racing against you all the time, you can sit there and meet the margin calls all day long, but one of the old adages is, never beat a margin call, which you may have heard from old-time traders. If you’ve got a margin call, just don’t meet it, because that means something is very seriously wrong.

SD: Right, that’s your stop loss.

JR: Yeah, well, stop losses are usually before a margin call comes. But I want to go back to something you said. You’re not as experienced as I am, obviously, because you’re not as old as I am, is what I’m saying. But I remember in the early 70s, there was something called the Nifty 50, and they were 50 stocks that everybody – the JP Morgan bought everyday. Didn’t matter. Avon, Xerox, IBM – they were stocks that always were eternal growth stocks.

And they just kept – we would short them, and they just kept going up. They never stopped. Polaroid– that was another. And they just never stopped going up. Everything else stopped going up but those Nifty 50, which would be something like the FANGs today, or maybe in the late 90s, some of the other kinds of stocks. So this has happened before in market history. They eventually crack, there’s no question.

And to today, if you look at the S&P 500, for instance, in the US, I think there are only 40 or 45 stocks that are above their 50-day moving average, to use technician’s kind of talk. Everything else is in a downtrend. And yet the market is making all-time highs.

SD: And so there’s a lack of breadth in the market.

JR: Definitely that lack of breadth. What is that – over 90{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of the stocks are in downtrends. 10{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} are in uptrends, but they’re big companies. And since the S&P is capitalization weighted, those 50 stocks, 40 stocks, whatever it is, dragged the average to all-time highs.

Optics for your Rifle: Cover All the Basics

0

by Jeremiah Johnson, Ready Nutrition:

ReadyNutrition Guys and Gals, prior to hunting season and/or disaster, those rifles of yours need to be ready to go…cleaned and in peak operating condition.  Thinking of the rifle as an extension of yourself is a good rule to follow that will keep you on your toes regarding maintenance and maintaining skills.  This piece is not intended to recommend any particular type of optic, as needs are widely varied in terms of rifles used and the tasks those rifles are intended to perform.  For a “Happy Family Scope Primer,” talk to a salesman at Cabela’s or some other big-box store selling the equipment.

This piece is designed to place emphasis on one of the concepts I’ve been trying to hammer home in almost every article: Master the “primitive” before you employ the technological.

Your first emphasis should be on iron sights and Kentucky windage.  You must be able to hit your target without optics.  OK, you have a perfectly-zeroed scope.  What if it breaks off its mount or one of the objectives shatters?  Oops, can you wait for Mr. Bad-Guy, so that I can aim?  How about an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse), and suddenly that $10-grand thermal image optical “dancer” on top of your weapon becomes a paperweight…what then?

Hopefully (in that regard) you listened to my advice and bought a second one and clapped it into a Faraday cage just for that event.  Either way, you will need that iron sight for a time…until that Carrington Effect wears off.  Same precautions need to be followed regarding your Red Dot sights and any laser sights or lights you may be employing.

Work with your rifle for at least a week or two with the iron sights.  Learn how to adjust them (if they’re adjustable) and how to estimate your ranges.  Find your optimal range to hit that target…the range you are comfortable with.  It will vary with age, eye-strength, experience, and natural shooting ability.  For example, one man may have an easy time with a man-sized target at 100 meters (300 feet), whereas a second man engages it effectively at 50 meters.  This is not to make any judgments on either man, but to emphasize a point: know your abilities and your limitations.  In this manner, you will be more effective.

Standard scopes with non-electrical/laser objectives (just lenses in a tube!) vary in quality and price.  Stick with this motto: Cheap you buy, cheap you get.  Although not perfect grammatically, it emphasizes the point clearly.  Quality in terms of durability, lens clarity and craftsmanship, and simplicity of function are things to seek after.  Take the time to really test out the scope.  The “gun salesman” is out to make bottom line and commission by selling guns and accessories.  Every scope is good… yada, yada.  Want to make a good selection?

Find someone with military experience as a sniper and ask this individual to either make a recommendation or go with you to pick up a good scope that fits your weapon’s needs.  Give ‘em the standard: “Thank you for your service.”  Great.  Then pay him to show you the knowledge that he earned…at a price.

It is a life or death decision, and if it’s not in your mind?  You better make it so.  If it’s hunting, it’s to provide meat for your table and your family.  You can’t get more life or death than that…except for defense.  When the goon is coming up the driveway with a pistol after the EMP strikes…you need to drop him before he ever reaches the door.

Once you have the scope, zero it properly.  You will have to set goals for yourself.  You will have to invest the time and the ammo.  Save your brass, reload, and determine your needs with the proper ballistics and bullet tables.  That scope…once it’s mounted, it needs to not move.  A boresight laser is invaluable: not so much for zeroing, but for confirming your zero and that you’re still “on” if you move the weapon or touch it.  Every time you touch that scope, you’ll have to re-zero it or re-confirm the zero.  Now, there are a ton of durable scopes and mounts that need minimal work in these departments.  It’s up to you to find them for your weapon and apply them.

Then, to the high-tech stuff.  As I said, you can invest tens of thousands in this department.  For those of you who think I just visit the “Dollar Tree,” think again: that was recommended for those who simply cannot afford to purchase the best equipment.  I give you my stance on scopes in a nutshell: only the best will suffice, in all departments as merits a professional soldier.  Rest assured, my optics are the best, and following OPSEC, I will not reveal to you what I have.

16 Horrific Scenes That Prove All Hell Is Breaking Loose in Spain

0

by Aaron Nelson, The Anti Media:

At least 700 people attempting to vote were injured on Sunday by Spanish police, who were attempting to prevent Catalonia’s independence referendum.

The violent clashes between Catalans and the Spanish police have led to the injuries of 216 people in Barcelona, 80 in Girona, 64 in Lleida, 53 in Terres de l’Ebre, 27 in Catalunya central, and 25 in Tarragona, according to the Catalan health ministry. Spanish police have gone so far as to physicallyattack Catalan firefighters and push back against Catalan police attempting to protect voters.

While many Catalans were able to successfully cast their ballots in the referendum, which was declared illegal by Spanish authorities, police violently prevented hundreds from voting for independence. Barcelona’s mayor is now calling for the Spanish prime minister to resign amid the violence and chaos. Jeremy Corbyn is calling on the Spanish government to end its “shocking” violence against Catalans who are simply trying to vote.

The Catalan government has announced that voting will end at 8pm Spanish time, except for people who are already in line at a polling station. Following the police crackdown, Spain’s prime minister Mariano Rajoy declared during a television address that there actually was no independence vote in Catalonia on Sunday.

“At this time I can tell you, with full clarity, what you all know and what we have seen today,’ he said.

“Today, we have not had a referendum for self-determination in Catalonia.

“Today, all the Spaniards have seen that our state rule of law keeps its strength and reality, and restricts those who wish to subvert the state of law, and acts with all the legal resources, vis a vis all provocations, and does it with efficacy and in a serene way.”

Here are 16 scenes that show Spanish police violently preventing Catalans from voting in the independence referendum:

The Globalists Are Systematically Destroying America’s Middle Class

0

by Michael Snyder, The Economic Collapse Blog:

When people are dependent on the government they are much easier to control.  We are often told that we are not “compassionate” when we object to the endless expansion of government social programs, but that is not how the debate should be framed.  In America today, well over 100 million people receive money from the federal government each month, and the number of Americans that are truly financially independent is continually shrinking.  In fact, only 25 percent of all Americans have more than $10,000 in savings right now according to one survey.  If we eventually get to the point where virtually all of us are dependent on the government for our continued existence, that would give the globalists a very powerful tool of control.  In the end, they want as many of us dependent on the government as possible, because those that are dependent on the government are a lot less likely to fight against their agenda.

Back in 1992, the bottom 90 percent of American income earners brought in more than 60 percent of the country’s income.  But last year that figure slipped to just 49.7 percent.  The wealth of our society is increasingly being concentrated at the very top, and the middle class is steadily being eroded.  Surveys have found that somewhere around two-thirds of the country is living paycheck to paycheck at least part of the time, and so living on the edge has become a way of life for most Americans.

Earlier today, I came across a Business Insider article that was bemoaning the fact that the U.S. economy seems to be rather directionless at this point…

  • We do not have a real plan for health care, and costs continue to gobble up American wages.
  • We do not have a plan for dealing with globalization and economic change, but that change continues to shape our economy.
  • We don’t have a plan to update our decrepit infrastructure.
  • The one plan we did have — the Federal Reserve’s post-financial crisis program — is about to be unwound, marking the end of the last clear, executable plan to bolster America’s economy.

Ultimately, the truth is that we don’t actually need some sort of “central plan” for our economy.  We are supposed to be a free market system that is not guided and directed by central planners, but many Americans don’t even understand the benefits of free market capitalism anymore.

However, that Business Insider article did make a great point about globalization.   Most people don’t realize that our economy is slowly but surely being integrated into a global economic system.   This is really bad for American workers, because now they are being merged into a global labor pool in which they must compete directly for jobs with workers in other countries where it is legal to pay slave labor wages.

Even down in Mexico, many autoworkers are only making $2.25 an hour

Most of the workers at the new Audi factory in the state of Puebla, inaugurated in 2016 and assembling the Audi Q4 SUV, which carries a sticker price in the US of over $40,000 for base versions, make $2.25 an hour, according to the Union.

Volkswagen, which owns Audi, started building Beetles in Puebla in 1967 and has since created a vast manufacturing empire in Mexico, with vehicles built for consumers in Mexico, the US, Canada, and Latin American markets.

Volkswagen, Ford, GM, or any of the global automakers, which can manufacture just about anywhere in the world, always search for cheap labor to maximize the bottom line.

Would you want to work for $2.25 an hour?

Over time, millions of good paying jobs have been leaving high wage countries and have been going to low wage countries.  The United States has lost more than 70,000 manufacturing facilities since China joined the WTO, and this is one of the biggest factors that has eroded the middle class.

In a desperate attempt to maintain our standard of living, we have gone into increasing amounts of debt.  Of course our federal government is now 20 trillion dollars in debt, but on an individual level we are doing the same thing.  Today, American consumers are over 12 trillion dollars in debt, and it gets worse with each passing day.

The borrower is the servant of the lender, and most Americans have become debt slaves at this point.  This is something that Paul Craig Roberts commented on recently

Americans carry on by accumulating debt and becoming debt slaves. Many can only make the minimum payment on their credit card and thus accumulate debt. The Federal Reserve’s policy has exploded the prices of financial assets. The result is that the bulk of the population lacks discretionary income, and those with financial assets are wealthy until values adjust to reality.

As an economist I cannot identify in history any economy whose affairs have been so badly managed and prospects so severely damaged as the economy of the United States of America. In the short/intermediate run policies that damage the prospects for the American work force benefit what is called the One Percent as jobs offshoring reduces corporate costs and financialization transfers remaining discretionary income in interest and fees to the financial sector. But as consumer discretionary incomes disappear and debt burdens rise, aggregate demand falters, and there is nothing left to drive the economy.

This debt-based system continuously funnels wealth toward the very top of the pyramid, because it is the people at the very top that hold all of the debts.

Each year it gets worse, and most Americans would be absolutely stunned to hear that the top one percent now control 38.6 percent of all wealth in the United States…

The richest 1{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of families controlled a record-high 38.6{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of the country’s wealth in 2016, according to a Federal Reserve report published on Wednesday.

That’s nearly twice as much as the bottom 90{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528}, which has seen its slice of the pie continue to shrink.

The bottom 90{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of families now hold just 22.8{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of the wealth, down from about one-third in 1989 when the Fed started tracking this measure.

So how do we fix this?

LAS VEGAS MASS SHOOTING EYEWITNESS: CRAZY WOMEN WARNED CONCERT GOERS THAT EVERYONE WAS GOING TO DIE 45 MINUTES BEFORE SHOOTING

by Alex Thomas, The Daily Sheeple:

In yet another startling revelation in a night full of pure craziness, an eyewitness to the shooting in Las Vegas that left at least 20 people dead and over 100 injured has claimed that a women pushed her way to the front of the concert 45 mins before the actual shooting and threatened everyone around that they would soon be dead.

“So there was a lady who pushed her way forward into the first row and she started messing with another lady. She told us we were all going to die tonight – it was about forty five minutes before the shots were fired,” stated the witness.

OPINION: Jim Rogers notices what no-one else is noticing

0

from The Independent Media:

JOHANNESBURG – Step away from the crowd, look, see what no-one else is noticing – and that is where you can find what everyone is searching for.

This is Jim Rogers’ key to success. He should know, he is a US dollar billionaire, one of the world’s foremost financial analysts and commentators and an author.

Rogers is increasingly bullish about investing across Africa and emerging markets.

Rogers, 74, has investments in many countries. One of his most recent is into a Hong Kong-listed coal mine in Indonesia.

He was scoffed at, while the rest of the world is moving away from fossil-fuels, that one of the world’s most savvy investment seers had bought into a coal mine.

In typical Rogers fashion, he had his finger on the pulse. His reckoning is that there will still be a need for coal.

It will take many decades for the world to run completely on renewable energy. He is also on record saying that he invests in “good coal” which is less harmful.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post, owned by Jack Ma, founder and executive chairperson of Alibaba Group, he is quoted as saying coal has a potential upside in the age of clean energy.

“All coal is bad to the public and to the press, which is not correct,” he said. “All coal can be clean, even though it may be expensive you put in the time, effort and money to make it better.”

Rogers graduated from Yale, with a BA in history and a degree in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University. He and one of the world’s most wealthiest men, George Soros, co-founded the Quantum Fund in 1970. They worked together for a decade, making sure the fund’s value increased by 40 times.

Rogers was 37, very wealthy and adventurous. He took a sabbatical, donned a motorcycle helmet and travelled the world.

Prediction

Trailblazing, as usual, he sold up in New York more than a decade ago and moved his wife and two daughters to Singapore.

The move was partly driven by the prediction that China will be the most powerful country in the world this century. When taken together, China’s gross domestic product and Purchasing Power Parity is greater than the US.

His move was confirmation in his belief in the rise of Asia as an economic giant. But his investments stretch beyond Asia, reaching into Africa.

He believes that Africa is the next growth story. In a telephonic interview, Rogers said there were many investment opportunities in Africa.

His first investment into the continent was during the seventies, when economies started opening up.

“Millions of Africans did not have bank accounts, so I invested in the banking sector,” he said.

Subsequently he invested in mines and a range of different industries.

He has a proviso, he only invests in publicly traded companies, and prefers companies started by gutsy-entrepreneurs.

How has he been finding his most recent investment opportunities? Sometimes entrepreneurs find him. For others he surfs the internet.

“I find the most successful entrepreneurs and make them offers. I find them, because they are increasingly visible because of the Internet.”

Rogers recently invested in a small mutual fund in Zimbabwe.

“There are 54 countries in Africa, there are always investment opportunities.”

He is excited at the immense opportunities in many sectors, which goes beyond mining and finance.

He has set his sights on the tourism and agricultural sectors, but is open to any other investment opportunity.

African tourism has a great future, he says. Many people from Asia are excited to visit Africa, after decades of fear.

Are They Really Out to Get Me?

0

by Jeff Thomas, International Man:

Libertarians and others who seek to be left alone to run their own lives habitually ask themselves the above question regarding their government.

So, what’s the answer? Are they out to get you? Well, unfortunately, the answer isn’t a simple “yes” or “no.” In fact, it’s “yes” and “no.”

The secret to understanding a government’s intentions is that there’s no unified overall objective, sentiment, or approach to dealing with the private sector. Quite the opposite. With any government, it couldn’t be more fragmented or dysfunctional.

At the very lowest level of any government is the civil service, which is, in any country, a catch-all for all those people who are so lacking in ability and imagination that they’d be unlikely to hold down a job in the private sector. Moreover, their level of motivation is likely to be so low that their dysfunction tends to coincide with extreme inefficiency.

To test this out, one only has to visit the local Department of Motor Vehicles, or a similar agency that does little except charge fees and waste time in order to provide you with a permit, which, were it not required, you could happily do without.

Most anyone, in observing the individual behind the counter, would observe the glassy stare and recognize that, even though this person spends each working day behind this counter and may have been doing so for years, he or she takes virtually no interest in your personal concerns and, if you have questions, tends to find them a nuisance and an interruption in the endless drudgery of issuing paperwork.

Hence the image above. Here we have a pilot in Canada who, when being presented with a computer-driven list of tail letters that were authorized for him to choose from, immediately laughed when he saw the above letters on the list. He then went up to the counter, having circled the ones he chose, and the clerk processed the application brainlessly, without it even registering in his head what the letters suggested.

Later, when the pilot had had the letters emblazoned on his fuselage, it might not have been unlikely that an airport supervisor, seeing them 10 inches high on the side of the plane, raised an objection, at which time the pilot proudly produced his paperwork.

As most anyone in the private sector can attest, as soon as paperwork is presented, the civil servant in question simply says, “Oh,” then nods and lets you go on your way.

But, looking at this more deeply, what we’re witnessing is that that percentage of the population who are (once again) lacking in ability and imagination are easy to programme by the government to become automatons—that even if something strikes them as being somehow incorrect, as long as it has the State stamp of approval, it’s just fine.

And, so, at the lower level of government, we have those who are not “out to get us”; they are merely borderline useless and have ended up with jobs in which that deficiency will not get them fired. They are, therefore, merely “in the way.”

As we go up the chain, however, where those in government are somewhat more ambitious, we find a greater desire to control. The closer we get to the higher echelons, the more they truly are “out to get you.”

Why should this be? And why should it be that those the higher-ups tend to hate the most are those who are self-motivated, responsible, self-reliant, and imaginative?

Well, unfortunately, the answer is simple. It’s because those are the character traits that they lack. I’m sorry to have to say that in my many years of working directly with politicians and heads of governments, virtually all of them were highly evolved civil-servant types. They had more drive, more guile, and larger egos than the lower-level bureaucrats but were just as parasitical and just as lacking in character traits that would make them productive people.

With these individuals, yes, they are out to get you. First, if they recognize that you possess the traits that would make you productive, they will be highly jealous and suspicious of you. Second, they will understand that since you are productive and they are not, they must find a means by which they can use you as a cash cow, to be milked as much as possible and as often as possible.

Their purpose, therefore, is to regulate, control, and tax you in every way possible, and in this they are, quite simply, predators. They may be Tory or Labour, Republican or Democrat, but they are predators nonetheless and, as such, are a genuine threat to both your freedom and your well-being.

Of course, all politicians play the game of party politics, doing all in their power to convince the electorate that they and their party are dramatically different from the opposing party, presenting their own party as “the good guys,” and the opposing party as “the bad guys.”

However, they are, as Judge Andrew Napolitano has repeatedly stated, merely “two wings of the same bird of prey.”

GRAVITOBIOLOGY AND THE HUMAN SOUL

0

by Joseph P. Farrell, Giza Death Star:

Thomas Bearden, a former U.S. Colonel and physicist of a high order, wrote about the relationship of unified (meaning: including gravity) hyper-dimensional physics and its relationship to biological systems. As part of the intelligentsia, Dr. Bearden is a serious outlier, who was given the “fringe treatment” that awaits anyone who steps outside the orthodoxy of the established narrative and tells a different tale.

The basic idea, outlined by Joseph Farrell in his book, Secrets of the Unified Field, is that the material world is largely the result of a special kind of electromagnetic templating that determines the design and function of systems of all kinds in the real world. Bearden was in great agreement with the work of the Russian scientists, who determined in clever and far-reaching experiments that analogical states could be transmitted from one system to another using something called “infolding the potential.” Potential refers to magnitudes of “stuff” that have no dimensions, sometimes referred to as “scalar”  Infolding is to a layman, merely the application of subtle arrangements of energy that are “tucked into” a physical system. By analogical, what I mean is that a state of “health” or “illness” are infolded into animals by way of complex templates, or gratings, that include this “infolded” information.

One of the frightening things about this is its potential to be misused. Another concern is the fact that people are avoiding understanding it, which only increases the potential for misuse.

Joseph Farrell stated in a recent gathering of his website members, called a “vidchat”, that he did not believe in the idea presented by Elena Freeland that humanity could be fenced in completely using scalar technology; that it was his view that humanity included within each being non-local consciousness that could only be temporarily derailed through these methods. That idea struck me as sound and I began thinking about spiritual systems in other cultures and their relationship to manipulations by scientific materialists.

What can we ourselves do to preserve our natural independence?

As an analogy, consider Ormus or monatomic gold. Gold as a metal is normally found with two atoms of gold joined together; a shiny metal with important properties. If that bond can be broken, one is left with a single atom of gold. The act of conversion makes nearly 40{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of the mass of the gold disappear! Part of that gold is here, and another part of it is “somewhere else.” Convert it back to metallic gold and voile! All the missing mass is restored. Where did it go? How did it come back?  This hyperdimensional reality beyond standard measurement proves there is another layer beyond our four-space experience.

It is that uncanny “non-place” that protects beings from various kinds of spiritual and material manipulation.

Central to Mayahana Buddhism, for example, is the idea of buddha nature. Buddha nature exists in all humans. It can’t be burned away. It can only be obscured. Buddha nature describes a state of the full human mind open and available to its proper extent, like a lotus flower fully open.  It is a core buddhist cosmological axiom that every single human mind or “soul” is already fully enlightened in its core, and therefore that core is immune to interference, only to obfuscation of its outer layers, like a stage curtain pulled across the front of the set, blocking the view.

Central to middle and middle eastern concepts is the idea of the soul, also apart from the body, linked into it at the moment of conception, and ejecting out of it at the moment of death. The soul is in constant relationship to God whether the individual is aware of it or not, because the soul is the “divine spark” which is what the Christian expression “Made in the image and likeness of God” might actually mean.

A community of atheists has just as much opportunity to protect themselves from these systems as a devout one.

Rising up against the Oligarchs does not equal socialism

by Jon Rappoport, No More Fake News:

There are “people’s” groups all over the world who advocate the overthrow of the men at the top —the Oligarchs—who control nations.

These people’s groups want to install socialism as the answer to Oligarchy.

That’s preposterous.

The Oligarchs—bankers, mega-corporate CEOs, financiers, government leaders, intelligence agencies—collude to cut out competition so they can stand alone at the summit of the mountain. And they call this arrangement SOCIALISM. They PROMOTE socialism. They’ve staked out OWNERSHIP of socialism worldwide.

In other words, the “people’s” groups, who claim to be battling for a better world, are doing the Oligarchs’ bidding. Unconsciously, or on purpose.

Useful idiots.

Socialism has never been about toppling power-hungry leaders. Its pretension of equality and share-and-care is a cover for totalitarianism by the few, for the few.

Karl Marx, while predicting a coming utopia on Earth, expressed the absolute need for a “transition” phase called the “dictatorship of the proletariat.”

Of course, that was a partial misnomer. The “dictatorship” part was correct, but the proletariat would never run it. They would labor for it. They would look up from ground level at the leaders who were supposedly their friends and guardians—and soon realize they’d been taken in by a long con. There was no transition government. There was just the same old Oligarchy under another name, that’s all.

From Gary Allen’s 1971 classic, None Dare Call It Conspiracy:

“We are being socialized in America and everybody knows it. If we had a chance to sit down and have a cup of coffee with the man in the street…he might say: ‘You know, the one thing I can never figure out is why all these very, very wealthy people like the Kennedys, the Fords, the Rockefellers and others are for socialism. Why are the super-rich for socialism? Don’t they have the most to lose…?’ In reality, there is a vast difference between what the promoters define as socialism and what it is in actual practice. The idea that socialism is a share-the-wealth program is strictly a confidence game to get the people to surrender their freedom to an all-powerful collectivist government. While the insiders [Oligarchs] tell us we are building a paradise on earth, we are actually constructing a jail for ourselves.”

When a mega-corporate CEO, whose company is in deep financial trouble, magically secures a giant loan through a crony, and when that corporation continues to pollute the land and destroy lives, and while the government agency that should be hauling off the CEO to prison sits on its hands, that’s socialism in practice. That’s the real thing.

The government may not officially own such corporations, as in the classical definition of socialism, but at the top, the government and the biggest corporations are cooperating, as one. It’s a distinction without a difference.

Why don’t more people understand all this?

Because their minds are clouded with propaganda and feel-good New Age oatmeal. Because they’re convinced that believing in something that sounds good on the surface (“a better and more just world for all”) is enough, is a pinnacle of achievement for them. And since they’re told this belief is socialism, they’re for it.

They will fall for any program on that basis. If pernicious medical experts assure them that mandated mass vaccination will protect the planet from disease, they will snap up that vision in a minute. “A healthy Earth for everyone.” It must be true. It feels right.

Recently, I published an astonishing statement made by the Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio: “What’s been hardest is the way our legal system is structured to favor private property. I think people all over this city, of every background, would like to have the city government be able to determine which building goes where, how high it will be, who gets to live in it, what the rent will be. I think there’s a socialistic impulse, which I hear every day, in every kind of community, that they would like things to be planned in accordance to their needs. And I would, too…Look, if I had my druthers, the city government would determine every single plot of land, how development would proceed. And there would be very stringent requirements around income levels and rents. That’s a world I’d love to see, and I think what we have, in this city at least, are people who would love to have the New Deal back, on one level. They’d love to have a very, very powerful government, including a federal government, involved in directly addressing their day-to-day reality.”

The control of private property, from above, is of course one of the tenets of socialism.

Oligarchs, who promote their brand of socialism, who are also Globalists (no nations, no borders), want to sweeten their pot through floods of immigrants. No, they’re not thinking about “doing good.” They have propaganda operatives who spout that line.

They’re thinking about how they can blur and erase all sorts of distinctions surrounding private ownership of private property—and instead, disruptively resettle immigrants, make them dependent on the State, sink property values, and induce more and more citizens to accept the idea that “everything belongs to everybody.”

The Dishonest Career of the Remarkable Srđa Popović

0

by F. William Engdahl, New Eastern Outlook:

Many readers likely never heard the name of the remarkable Serbia-born political operator named Srđa Popović. Yet he and his organization, CANVAS, have played a lead role in most every CIA-backed Color Revolution since he led the toppling of Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic in 2000, at least fifty according to last count. Now he has turned his sights on Hungary and Hungary’s popular and defiant Prime Minister Victor Orban.

On September 8, the professional regime-change specialist Srđa Popović came to Budapest and joined with the anti-Orban opposition groups in front of the Hungarian Parliament. It‘s clear that Popović was not in town to promote his Hungarian book on nonviolent regime change but rather to give aid to the anti-Orban parties before Hungarian elections in spring of 2018. Many in Hungary smell the oily hand of Hungarian-born regime-change financier George Soros behind the Popović appearance now in Budapest.

Because of the manufactured aura of “hip doer-of-good-deeds” surrounding the personality of Srđa Popović, it’s useful to look closely at who sponsored his remarkable career since he founded a tiny Belgrade student opposition NGO called Otpor! in 1998 with its now famous clenched fist logo. The career of Srđa Popović from 2000 until today suggest a remarkably dishonest manipulator in the service of foreign intelligence agencies and governments, despite his vehement claims otherwise.

Serbia’s Otpor!

Popović first came to international notice as the founder of the Belgrade student political activist organization Otpor! which means “Resistance!” in Serbian. In October 1998 Popović founded Otpor!, initially as a student protest group at Belgrade University dealing with student grievances. That was soon to change. He and other Otpor founders were trained in the methods of US regime-change specialist Gene Sharp founder of the Albert Einstein Institute in Cambridge Massachusetts and by US State Department soft coup specialists such as Belgrade Ambassador Richard Miles and other trained US intelligence operatives, including election specialists and public relations image makers.

Guiding Otpor!’s Milošević ouster operation, US Ambassador to Serbia Richard Miles was a specialist in regime change, far more so than in classical diplomacy. He orchestrated the CIA coup in Azerbaijan that brought Aliyev to power in 1993 before arriving in Belgrade, and after that went on to orchestrate the CIA coup in Georgia that brought US asset Mikheil Saakashvili to power.

The US Agency for International Development (USAID), widely known as a CIA front, had channeled the Serb Otpor! Millions of dollars in funds through commercial contractors and through the US-government-financed NGOs: the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the National Democratic Institute, and the International Republican Institute. The Open Society Institute of George Soros was also funneling money into Popović ’s Otpor! for the toppling of Milosevic. I have yet to find a CIA and US State Department regime change or Color Revolution in which the “democracy-building” foundations of Soros were not in a kind of harmony with the Washington State Department and CIA agenda. Maybe just a coincidence.

The NED with all its affiliates was a project of Ronald Reagan CIA head, Bill Casey, in the early 1980’s to conceal CIA regime change operations around the world behind the front of a “private” democracy NGO, the NED. Allen Weinstein, cofounder of the NED admitted to the Washington Post, “A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA.”

According to Michael Dobbs, who was foreign investigative reporter for the Washington Post during the Milosevic ouster, the IRI paid for Popović and some two-dozen other Otpor! leaders to attend a training seminar on nonviolent resistance at the Hilton Hotel in Budapest in October,1999. There Popović and the other handpicked Serbian students received training in such matters as how to organize a strike and how to communicate with symbols, such as the clenched fist that became their logo. They learned how to overcome fear and how to undermine the authority of a dictatorial regime.

The principal lecturer at the secret Hilton Hotel meeting was Gene Sharp’s associate, retired US Army Col. Robert Helvey, a former Defense Intelligence Agency analyst who trained and then used the Otpor! activists to distribute 70,000 copies of a manual on nonviolent resistance in Serb translation. Helvey worked with Gene Sharp, founder of the controversial Albert Einstein Institution, teaching techniques to the US government to conceal its coup d’états under the guise of nonviolence. Sharp was described by Helvey as “the Clausewitz of the nonviolence movement,” a reference to the renowned Prussian military strategist.

Popović and his Otpor! NGO were recipients of a major share of over $41 million US government money for their “democracy-building” campaign in Serbia. Dobbs describes the US involvement:

Behind the seeming spontaneity of the street uprising that forced Milošević to respect the results of a hotly contested presidential election on September 24 was a carefully researched strategy put together by Serbian democracy activists with active assistance of Western advisers and pollsters… US-funded consultants played a crucial role behind the scenes in virtually every facet of the anti-drive, running tracking polls, training thousands of opposition activists and helping to organize a vitally important parallel vote count. US taxpayers paid for 5,000 cans of spray paint used by student activists to scrawl anti-Milošević graffiti on walls across Serbia.

In short, Popović began his revolution-making career as a regime change specialist in an operation funded by the CIA, US State Department, US Government NGOs including the infamous NED and George Soros’ Open Society Institute. The question is what did Srđa Popović do after his first helpful service to Washington in 2000?

Globalization of revolutions

After his success in getting rid of Milosevic for his US Government sponsors, Popović created a new organization called CANVAS. He decided to globalize his business model that worked so well in Belgrade in 2000, to make himself an international “go to” person for making US State Department fake democracy regime change. CANVAS or the Centre for Applied Nonviolent Action and Strategies calls itself a non-profit, non-governmental, “educational institution focused on the use of nonviolent conflict.” According to Wikipedia, CANVAS seeks to “educate pro-democracy activists around the world in what it regards as the universal principles for success in nonviolent struggle.”

Popović and CANVAS claim that at least 50{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of their obviously substantial funding for this philanthropic work comes from Popović ’s Otpor ally, Slobodan Đinović, co-chair of CANVAS and listed as CEO of something called Orion Telecom in Belgrade. A Standard & Poors Bloomberg business search reveals no information about Orion Telecom other than the fact it is wholly-owned by an Amsterdam-listed holding called Greenhouse Telecommunications Holdings B.V. where the only information given is that the same Slobodan Đinović is CEO in a holding described only as providing “alternative telecommunication services in the Balkans.” It sounds someting like a corporate version of the famous Russian matryoshka doll nested companies to hide something.

Leaving aside the unconvincing statement by Popović ’s CANVAS that half their funds come from Dinovic’s selfless generosity from his fabulous success as telecom CEO in Serbia, that leaves the other roughly 50{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of CANVAS funds unaccounted for, as Popović declines to reveal the sources beyond claiming they are all private and non-government. Of course the Washington NGO is legally private though its funds mainly come from USAID. Of course the Soros Open Society Foundations are private. Could these be some of the private patrons of his CANVAS? We don’t know as he refuses to disclose in any legally auditable way.

There is no charge for CANVAS workshops and its revolutionary know-how can be downloaded for free on the Internet. This generosity, when combined with the countries CANVAS has trained regime-change opposition group “pro-democracy activists” suggests that the other 50{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528}, if not more, of CANVAS funding comes from money channels that lead at least in part back to the US State Department and CIA. The Washington Freedom House is known to have financed at least a part of the activities of CANVAS. Freedom House, closely tied to the US neo-conservative war lobby, gets most of its funding from the US Government.

Popović’s CANVAS claims to have trained “pro-democracy activists” from more than 50 countries, including Ukraine, Georgia, Zimbabwe, Burma (actually the legal name since independence from the British is Myanmar but Washington insists on the colonial name), Ukraine, Georgia, Eritrea, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, Egypt and Syria. Popović ’s CANVAS was involved as well in unsuccessful attempts to start Color Revolution regime change against Venezuela’s Hugo Chaves and the opposition in the failed 2009 Iran Green Revolution.

Every one of those countries happen to also be targets for Washington regime-change of governments who refuse to toe the Washington line on key foreign policy issues, or which contain vital raw materials such as oil, natural gas or strategic minerals.
