The former president is accused of entering multiple criminal conspiracies to change the results of the 2020 US election.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes after Trump appealed an appeals court judge&#8217;s rejection of that argument.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0<em>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/technofog.substack.com\/p\/special-counsel-smiths-desperate\">Reactionary<\/a><\/em>\u00a0notes;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>The setting of Trump\u2019s DC trial for the spring of 2024 \u2013 conveniently scheduled one day before the Super Tuesday primaries<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 was undoubtedly the result of a shared interest between the Special Counsel and the presiding judge, Tanya Chutkan: to convict Donald Trump before the 2024 election. Moreover, given the 11+ million pages of documents involved in this case, the hundreds (if not thousands) of hours of video and audio, and the hundreds of witnesses,\u00a0<strong>the accelerated trial date was a violation of Trump\u2019s Sixth Amendment right to effective assistance of counsel, which includes the opportunity to\u00a0<\/strong><strong>prepare\u00a0for trial.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Special Counsel\u2019s DC case against Trump\u00a0<strong>comprises novel legal theories that have never been tried in American courts<\/strong>, most notably whether Presidential challenges to an election can be criminalized under the United States code.
