Another Covid hysteric running the Centers for Disease Control.<\/p>\n

Proving it has learned all the wrong lessons since 2021, the Biden Administration is\u00a0about to choose<\/a>\u00a0Dr. Mandy Cohen to replace Dr. Rochelle Walensky as director of the Centers for Disease Control.<\/p>\n

Cohen shares the same health authoritarian impulses as Walensky. She supported\u00a0mask<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0vaccine<\/a>\u00a0mandates – and\u00a0lockdowns<\/a>\u00a0even in 2021. But she is apparently more bureaucratically competent, and thus more dangerous, than Walensky.<\/p>\n

Cohen is also very close to Andy Slavitt, whom I am suing in Berenson v Biden for his efforts to censor me. Her choice suggests Slavitt still has considerable influence in the Biden Administration two years after officially leaving the White House.<\/p>\n

Apparently diversity mandates haven\u2019t hit the CDC yet. Cohen is a\u00a0lot<\/em>\u00a0like Walensky, a nice Jewish* doctor** from the Northeastern suburbs with all the right degrees.<\/p>\n

(*I can say it, I\u2019m Jewish)<\/p>\n

(**The actual expression is \u201cnice Jewish girl\u201d but I don\u2019t want to get in trouble)<\/p>\n

Perhaps the biggest difference is that Cohen is less orange. Not figuratively, literally; Walensky\u2019s skin tone occupies an uncanny valley somewhere between North Africa and Malibu Barbie. But I digress.<\/p>\n

(Digression continues. What color is that? It\u2019s not beige, it\u2019s not orange, it\u2019s not brown, it\u2019s not white. Seriously, what color? Ecru? But is ecru a color, or just a world for beige at fancy furniture stores?)<\/em><\/p>\n

I know, I shouldn\u2019t make of Rochelle Walensky\u2019s skin tone when there is SO MUCH ELSE to make fun her over.<\/p>\n

Like that time she\u00a0told Rachel Maddow<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cvaccinated people do not carry the virus, don\u2019t get sick.\u201d Oops! Or the\u00a0press conference<\/a>\u00a0where she said she was \u201cscared\u201d of Covid.\u00a0Profiles In Courage<\/a>, get me rewrite!<\/p>\n

\u2014<\/p>\n

But wait. This piece isn\u2019t about the\u00a0departing\u00a0<\/em>CDC director, it\u2019s about the\u00a0incoming\u00a0<\/em>CDC director. The queen is dead, long live the queen.<\/p>\n

Stunningly, despite their vast similarities in professional training and life experience, Cohen and Walensky have tons in common.<\/p>\n

They both approached Covid by maximizing hysteria and government overreach. Like Walensky, Cohen loves her some face diapers.<\/p>\n

In fact, she loves them\u00a0more\u00a0<\/em>than Walensky. In December 2021, Cohen said that \u201ceveryone\u201d needed to keep wearing masks. \u201cEven if you\u2019re vaccinated, you should wear a mask,\u201d\u00a0she said<\/a>. Even the CDC had dropped its mask requirements for vaccinated people\u00a0seven months before<\/a>.<\/p>\n

(No, seriously, she LOVES masks.<\/em><\/p>\n

Besides pushing lockdowns through March 2021, Cohen also threatened legal action against a\u00a0school district\u00a0<\/a>that wanted to drop quarantines and contact tracing – in September 2021, long after Covid\u2019s lack of risk to school-age children became apparent. She pushed jab mandates for\u00a0health care workers<\/a>\u00a0and explicitly tied loosening\u00a0restrictions<\/a>\u00a0to vaccination levels.<\/p>\n

In other words, Cohen has heartily supported every authoritarian measure that the last three years have proven useless. Of course, to the White House, her views are a feature, not a bug. And the Biden Administration\u00a0seems to believe<\/a>\u00a0she will be able to make the CDC even more willing to follow its lead.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhite House officials were drawn to Cohen\u2019s track record of leadership at the federal and state level, said people familiar with the process who spoke on the condition of anonymity,\u201d the\u00a0Washington Post reported<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s a stark contrast to Walensky, who was in her first leadership role in government.\u201d<\/p>\n
