{"id":317659,"date":"2022-09-21T17:20:28","date_gmt":"2022-09-21T21:20:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sgtreport.com\/?p=317659"},"modified":"2022-09-21T00:24:29","modified_gmt":"2022-09-21T04:24:29","slug":"biden-regime-wants-more-regulations-on-cryptocurrencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sgtreport.com\/2022\/09\/biden-regime-wants-more-regulations-on-cryptocurrencies\/","title":{"rendered":"Biden Regime Wants More Regulations on Cryptocurrencies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>by Shane Trejo, <a href=\"https:\/\/bigleaguepolitics.com\/biden-regime-wants-more-regulations-on-cryptocurrencies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big League Politics<\/a>:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"width: 35%;\" src=\"https:\/\/bigleaguepolitics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Screen-Shot-2022-09-20-at-10.59.34-PM-788x443.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On September 16, 2022, the Biden regime announced that\u00a0 agencies of the United States government must crank up the pressure on the cryptocurrency sector.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden regime wants agencies to identify holes in cryptocurrency regulation and strengthen \u201cdigital asset sector enforcement\u201d, per a Reuters\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/biden-administration-wants-more-crypto-enforcement-digital-asset-rules-2022-09-16\/\">report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more Read More--> TRUTH LIVES on at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sgtreport.tv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">https:\/\/sgtreport.tv\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The government believes that there is \u201cpotential for misuse and harm\u201d in the cryptocurrency sector.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Treasury Department will be spearheading a group of government agencies that is sketching out a plan for a potential central bank digital currency.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Biden regime has not fully endorsed the concept of establishing a digital dollar.<\/p>\n<p>This latest movement comes after an executive order US President Joe Biden signed earlier this year \u201con Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Assets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInnovation is one of the hallmarks of a vibrant financial system and economy, but as we\u2019ve painfully learned from history, innovation without adequate regulation can result in significant disruptions and harm to the financial system and individuals,\u201d Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said to reporters.<\/p>\n<p>The government is recommending that regulatory agencies such as the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) put forward \u201cguidance and rules for digital asset ecosystem risks, including the potential for cryptocurrencies to be used in money laundering or for fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Biden regime is also floating the idea of urging Congress to revise the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) in a way that subjects digital asset service providers \u2014 cryptocurrency exchanges and platforms for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) \u2014 to its regulations. Under the BSA, lenders are required to report suspicious transactions to the Treasury.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department also announced that it\u2019s in the process of establishing a Digital Asset Coordinator who will oversee 150 federal prosecutors.
