A whistleblower report issued by Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) reveals startling new allegations against the United States Secret Service (USSS) regarding the July 13, 2024, attempted assassination of former President Donald J. Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The report is compiled from several individuals in federal law enforcement and the USSS who came forward and spoke with the Missouri Senator.
According to Senator Hawley, the “findings are highly damaging to the credibility of the Secret Service and DHS. They reveal a compounding pattern of negligence, sloppiness, and gross incompetence that goes back years, all of which culminated in an assassination attempt that came inches from succeeding.” The report states the USSS ignored offers by local law enforcement to deploy drone technology and alleges the USSS’s lead site agent for the Butler rally “was known to be incompetent.”
