Genocide: Which of These 8 Stages are Happening Now?

0

by Joe Jarvis, DailyBell:

His neighbor, a woman who had lived in the same community with him all his life, shouted out to the Nazi soldiers. Hersch Altman was 11 years old, hiding with his older sister. His Polish neighbor pointed them out. He got away. His sister did not. Hersch never saw her again.

There are tens of millions of stories just like that one. You can change the names, the places, the regimes, and the ethnicity of those involved. Yet the same thing has played out again and again.

During WWII  the worldwide death toll was about 55 million. Excluding military casualties, Hitler was responsible for the death of 12 million assorted “enemies” of the state. This included Hersch Altman’s entire family. He survived by running and hiding throughout the Polish countryside.

In China just between the years 1958-1962,  Mao “worked, starved, or [beat] to death” about 45 million Chinese civilians. Millions more Chinese civilians were murdered over the next 50 years.

In Russia, Stalin starved about 7 million Ukrainians to death from 1932-1933. American intellectuals were busy telling Americans how great Uncle Joe was. Most estimate a total of 20-60 million civilians were killed by Stalin.

In North Korea just since the 1990′s several million civilians have been murdered, or died in forced labor camps. Pol Pot’s regime in Cambodia murdered 2 million civilians in the 1970′s, and the Rwandan genocide in the 1990′s saw over a million deaths.

I could go on but you get the point. It is important to recognize the conditions which lead to these atrocities, in order to protect ourselves, our communities, our families, and all of society.

There are 8 stages which lead up to a genocide. Not all 8 stages always occur before a genocide, nor does any one necessarily signify an impending genocide. By recognizing these 8 steps, we can stop the madness before it starts.

1.  “Us” versus “Them”

Nazi’s are such an easy target when it comes to explaining genocide–they claimed the Jews were different, that they were undermining the culture, and that they were stealing from the rest of Germany by being the middle-man in many transactions.

In Russia, the bourgeoisie or the business class were targeted. Leaders told the proletariat they had been exploited by the bourgeoisie.

Do We Need Trendy Terms to Encourage Recycling?

0

I don’t know why the media has to come up with stupid terms for everything. Reading about sustainable living, every time I see the word “lifecycling” I feel like I am hearing nails on a chalkboard. Everything has to be trendy and new, so apparently, the word recycle is out. Now recycling is a lifestyle.

Lifecycling takes recycling to the next level; it’s a philosophy that embraces new, creative uses for products as a way extend their cycle, positively benefit your personal life and keep as much garbage out of landfills as possible.

Of course, I think recycling is great. I really love efficiency and hate waste, so reusing everything I can is pretty satisfying. But thriftiness is a big motivator. I take pride and find satisfaction in keeping my expenses a fraction of my overall income.

On the ten acre mini-farm I live and work on, there were a lot of random materials left when we moved in. We found a way to recycle almost everything.

One of our chicken coops is 90{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} wood that was left on the property, and the other 10{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} was leftover wood from building a shed. I removed an old concrete walkway in front of the house and made a berm as a backstop for shooting. Old buried bricks were turned into a patio under the live oaks. I also lined some garden beds with more salvaged bricks and cinder blocks.

We compost the insane amount of leaves which fall off the huge oak trees and use the compost in the gardens. We are expanding out rainwater collection, and one structure is getting solar panels next week!

We used pallets to make a gate and the floor of an outdoor kitchen. In fact, the counter and sink for the outdoor kitchen were snagged for free off craigslist when someone threw them out. Craiglist is a great resource to find cheap or free raw materials for any number of projects.

My brother-in-law, who owns the mini-farm with my sister, works for himself buying used items at yard sales, thrift stores, and estate sales, and selling them on eBay. His whole business is centered around reuse, finding good items a new home, not in a landfill.

So even though I hate the term “lifecycling” I do love the concept. It’s just funny to me that it is being sold as a cool new movement of youngsters! Actually, it was the norm back in the day. People sewed and patched holes in clothing. Composting veggie scraps was a no brainer. Fences were even sourced from backyard lumber.

Recycling has the potential to free up a lot of capital. Since we find so many free and cheap materials, it means the mini-farm can grow that much quicker. Even things like buying used chicken processing equipment instead of buying it new meant that money could instead be spent on building a fourth chicken coop.

Fracking Giant Sues Citizen for Speaking out Against Fracking

0

by Julie Filder, Natural Society:

Fracking giant Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. is suing Dimock, Pennsylvania resident Ray Kemble and his attorneys for $5 million after Kemble accused the gas driller of polluting residential wells in Pennsylvania. Cabot alleges that Kemble and his lawyers extorted the company through a “frivolous” lawsuit. [1]

In 2013, an EPA official wrote in an internal report that fracking conducted by Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. caused methane to leak into domestic water wells in Dimock, completely contradicting Cabot’s assessment, which said the methane gas was naturally occurring. [2]

State regulators initially got involved in 2010 and said Cabot’s drilling contaminated local wells, though a subsequent EPA investigation in 2012 found the water posed no health risks to Dimock residents.

Though the 2013 report didn’t exactly contract the EPA’s finding that the water was safe to use, it did show that at least one official determined that Cabot’s work damaged water wells.

Now, Cabot is suing Kemble, claiming that his efforts to garner media attention to his polluted well “harmed” the company. The energy company alleges in the suit that Kemble’s actions breached a 2012 settlement that was part of an ongoing federal class action lawsuit over Dimock’s water quality.

Kemble says that even now his water “burns the back of your throat, makes you gag, makes you want to puke.” According to the outspoken Pennsylvanian, who, along with other community members, was featured in the 2010 documentary “Gasland,” said that things only got worse after Cabot fracked 3 wells near his house. [3]

In August 2017, scientists from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a public health agency, again tested the water at Kemble’s home and about 2 dozen other houses.

A report released by the ATSDR in 2016 found contamination in some of Dimock’s well-water, but the tests did not look at what was casing the contamination. [4]

When asked about this on Monday, Cash told CNSNews.com, “I posted for the first time on the evening of July 24. I’m pretty sure it was frozen the next Monday. So it was only up for one week, but in that time, it registered over 38,000 shares.”

“It was really quite unnerving, as I had never posted anything publically before and never expected such a response,” she continued. “When they froze the post, I simply reposted it on my public page.”

Trump: ‘Russia Story Is a Total Fabrication’ by Dems Who Need Excuse for ‘Greatest Loss in the History of American Politics’

0

by Melanie Arter ,cnsnews.com:

President Donald Trump told a rally in Huntington, W.Va., that the only reason why Democrats talk about “the totally made up Russia story” is because they lack vision. He said prosecutors should instead focus on finding Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails.

“The reason why Democrats only talk about the totally made up Russia story is because they have no message, no agenda, and no vision,” said the president. “They don’t talk about the all-time high stock market. They don’t talk about reforms to the VA or about manufacturing jobs we’re bringing back to America by the hundreds of thousands. They don’t talk about the Keystone Pipeline that I immediately approve or the Dakota Access Pipeline.”

The president’s comments came shortly after news broke that Special Counsel Robert Mueller empaneled a grand jury in the Russia investigation.

“The Russia story is a total fabrication. It’s just an excuse for the greatest loss in the history of American politics. That’s all it is. It just makes them feel better when they have nothing else to talk about,” Trump said.

He said instead prosecutors should be looking into Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails, paid Russian speeches, and the uranium she sold to Russia.

“What the prosecutors should be looking at are HIllary Clinton’s 33,000 deleted emails, and they should be looking at the paid Russian speeches and the owned Russian companies, or let them look at the uranium she sold that is now in the hands of very angry Russians,” the president said.

Trump said he didn’t win because of Russia, he won because of voters like those who attended his rally.

“Most people know there were no Russians in our campaign. There never were. We didn’t win because of Russia. We won because of you,” Trump told the crowd.  “That I can tell you. We won because we totally outworked the other side. We won because of millions of patriotic Americans voted to take back their country.

“Have you seen any Russians in West Virginia or Ohio or Pennsylvania? Are there any Russians here tonight? Any Russians? They can’t beat us at the voting booths, so they’re trying to cheat you out of the future and the future that you want,” the president said.

Trump said Democrats are trying to cheat the voters out of the leadership they want with a “demeaning” fake story.

Global Crisis Hot Spots and Pressure Points – Jim Willie

0

by Jim Willie, Gold Seek:

A preface is required to explain that the US Federal Reserve is responsible for every grand financial crisis in the last 30 years, dating back to the Great Depression and its supposed spurious resolution to Black Monday of 1987. Little realized is that the ’87 crash was a direct result of the impact from outsourcing US industry, whose trend began in 1984 with Intel. The lost legitimate income had a grand effect on the inflows to the US Stock Market. Of course, the newly forming Reich Economic team preferred to describe it differently. The important outcome from the cleanup was the creation of multi-$trillion bank derivatives to serve as phony foundation for the entire Western banking system. Greenspan blessed it as good and firm, but now we know it was soft and weak. These derivatives are blowing up, which will require bailouts and a replacement in the Gold Standard. Instead, expect the derivatives to ramp up further with greater leverage up to the assured catastrophe. The fallout will be great.
