ReadyNutrition Guys and Gals, the stores are flooded with the types of knives and axes you can pick up. So, what to buy, and why? A simple question, fair enough. One of the problems that people face is that they like an “all-around” tool with multiple functions, when there are different, specialty tools and weapons for diverse functions. Let’s compare tomahawks and knives, and see where we go to, alright?
Firstly, whether it is a knife or a tomahawk, the first essential is to know your tool and train with it to maximum capacity. You should follow this principle in all you do with weapons, tools, or gear.
Here’s a rule to follow. You need to be able to use your tool or weapon: 1. specifically, and then 2. generally
I will explain. When you have an OSS Fairbairn-Sykes stiletto dagger, this blade is primarily a combat knife. That is its specific function: to fight with, plain and simple. In addition to this, you need to know the other capabilities the knife possesses and how to employ them. An example is a “thrower,” or throwing knife. The Fairbairn-Sykes can be thrown; however, this takes practice and it is not the knife’s primary function. Its primary function is close-quarters combat and for stealth (such as sentry takedown, etc.). I mentioned that you should always buy such tools and weapons in pairs: one to practice with, and the other to have in mint condition for use in the “real” world and when the SHTF.
Same for a tomahawk. Oh, there are some that are really high-end, such as those made by Hibben, Schrade, Kel-Tec, etc., that can run you into the hundreds of dollars. This is a combat weapon, and needs to be trained with as such: buy two and use one to train with and the other for when the SHTF. That is the specific purpose of a tomahawk: not to cut sector stakes or firewood. The tomahawk is not to be used for pounding in tent poles and then making kindling for your campfire.
And yet it can be used as such, as a general use if called for. When would that be called for? When you’re freezing to death and need to build a fire, and that’s all you have to cut dead fallen timber. The need outweighs the original specialty use. Tomahawks take a lot of practice to use. Personally, I prefer throwing knives over tomahawks. They cannot be used the same to cut wood and kindling or to chop, but as fighting implements, they are (for me) more accurate and reliable. Also, you can mount one on the end of a staff and turn it into a spear either for defense or hunting (a secondary, general function).
As I mentioned in another article, Hibben makes (in my opinion) the finest throwing knives that money can buy. Another factor about throwing knives that I like is the fact that they can be mounted on your vest and employed more easily and quickly than the tomahawk can be drawn. On the other side of the coin, the tomahawk generally provides you with more reach on your opponent if you swing it rather than throwing it. The decision is one of preference, but the point of effectiveness is the same for each weapon: training.
Purchasing sandbags have always been sold in late summer early fall as a preparedness product that is associated with the flooding attached to the fall rainy seasons and hurricanes. The time to order and purchase your sandbags is now, but for a different reason: to harden your house if possible. Those sandbags can be filled with more than just sand and can be used to stop more than just water. Look at the world situation right now with North Korea, China, and Russia: need I say any more to encourage you to prepare and fortify your homes for a SHTF event?
There are charts ad infinitum that will give you the amounts of layers of sandbags that are needed to stop a bullet, depending on the caliber. Most fill them with sand; however, unless you live on a beach, sand may be something not found out in your backyard. You can fill them with dirt, but the stopping factor is significantly reduced. It’s up to you: your decision (to paraphrase “Alice in Chains”). You can make them permanent with concrete. You can convert a front porch into a semi-fortified fighting position with three layers of sandbags about 3 to 4 feet high.
I don’t care to hear naysayers complaining at how the front porch will collapse, the room will collapse, yada yada. It is up to you the homeowner to find what the weight-bearing structural load is for your porch or any other room you intend to fortify. The main point is that there are steps you can take at home to make your property harder to enter and to enable you to defend it.
One of the big problems is that it’s hard (or impossible) to “scrap” different types of building materials or construction supplies out of the dump. The days of “dumpster diving” for materials are just about over. Salvage companies save everything to sell back to China, to be sent back (and sold) to us…as the salvors are raising money that is taxed by the local government…the same local government that will not permit you the citizen to “dumpster dive,” as it cuts into the “chain of events” just outlined…and their profits.
You’ll have to pick up some rolls of heavy-gauge fencing wire to cover over your windows. Nail them right to the frame with fencing staples, and ensure they’re taut. In this way, the Molotov will not go through. Also, ensure that you have at least 1 inch between this fencing-grating and the glass from the window. The Molotov may hit and allow the glass to break by bending the wire in enough so that the bottle’s weight impacts the window. Then you’ll have to cover the busted window with plastic.
And since we’re on the subject, you can pick up rolls of 6 mil plastic, 25’ x 10’ for about $10 at Wal-Mart…could come in handy to close those windows if needed. If you pick up the fencing wire rolls with rectangular apertures, say 2” x 4” it will facilitate you using the window as a firing port if the window is able to be opened from the inside and not a fixed window. I wrote several articles a couple of years ago for SHTFplan detailing how to harden your home; I highly recommend reading them if possible.
A good door brace (also referred to as a New York Lock) for the entry doors to your home will help out. It won’t completely prevent a break-in, but it’ll slow it down enough for you to deal with it. Consider a good brace-bar to go across the door. You want to make sure you have a solid frame. If it is one of those premade “cookie-cutter home” frames, you may have to reinforce it.
Plywood sheets should be measured and cut for the event (or eventuality, depending on your viewpoint) that your windows will disappear. Cut out your sizes to be able to nail or bolt into the frame on the outside of the window, and mark the pieces to enable you to match them up to the appropriate window. I suggest (at a minimum) ½” pressure-treated plywood. Also: measure and match up with those pieces pre-cut 2” x 4” sections, to put together as a “T” or multiple “T’s” to brace up the plywood in the center when it is in place. You never know when some fool will try to smash out the center of the plywood and enter the house.
Cut apertures for firing ports and viewing ports at the appropriate levels in your sheets. You can cover these up with pieces of plywood either on a screw or on a hinge to the side, to enable you to use your firearms to deal with Mr. Moron who just won’t take “no” for an answer. Make sure you take down and remove any trees, bushes, or anything that can provide marauders with cover and/or concealment. Cut down these things and use them for firewood later.
It’s always interesting reading when someone smug and sanctimonious writes a clueless diatribe about another group of people being smug and sanctimonious. So when I saw that an economist for Moody’s and Forbes had written an op-ed calling self-reliant homesteaders “delusional,” I knew I’d be in for some misinformed hilarity.
The article, entitled, “Dear Homesteaders, Self-Reliance Is a Delusion” was published a couple of days ago on the Forbes website. You’ll be forewarned that the article won’t be deep in the first paragraph, when the author presents his claim to knowledge about self-reliant living comes from the fact that he is “a big fan of shows about doomsday preppers, homesteaders, survivalists, generally people who live off the grid.”
And the well-informed opinion of this arbiter of self-reliance?
…there’s a central delusion in these shows that is never far from my mind when I’m watching these shows: off the grid people are not self-reliant, but instead are mooching off of the civil society, government, and safety net the rest of us contribute to…
The people in these shows often describe a very romantic vision of the lives they have chosen the ethos underlying it. They describe themselves as fully self-reliant, and criticize the rest of society as being dependent and lacking in this self-reliance. It is morally superior, the story goes, to provide for yourself, take care of your own needs, and often, be prepared to survive if society collapses.
First, let me segue a little bit and tell you about the author. According to his bio on Economy.com:
Adam Ozimek is an associate director and senior economist in the West Chester office of Moody’s Analytics. Adam covers state and regional economies, as well U.S. labor markets and demographics. Prior to joining Moody’s Analytics, Adam was Senior Economist and Director of Research for Econsult Solutions, an economics consulting company. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Temple University and his bachelor’s degree in economics from West Chester University.
So based on this, I’m going to guess that homesteading and off-grid living aren’t his jam. I mean, he might head down to the Westtown Amish Market there in Pennsylvania, but I’d be willing to place money on that being his closest brush with any real, live, self-reliant homesteaders.
His ill-conceived argument seems to be mostly focused on health care. He is baffled about what will happen if a homesteader becomes ill or gets injured.
” On Live Free Or Die, a man in his mid sixties named Colbert lives in the Georgia swamps alone….I always wonder what will happen if he slips and falls, and can no longer provide for himself. He’ll likely end up receiving hospital treatment paid for with Medicare, and perhaps end up in an assisted living center paid for by Medicare as well.”
“Another example from Live Free or Die is Tony and Amelia, a couple who live on a simple, off-the-grid homestead in North Carolina. When I watch them I wonder what would happen if one became extremely sick, and simple, off-the-grid home medicine couldn’t treat them. Would they say “we’ve chosen our fate, and now we die by it”, or would they seek treatment in a hospital they couldn’t afford which would be covered by the hospital’s charity care or perhaps Medicaid?”
One thing that Dr. Ozimek is missing is the fact that most homesteaders are tax-paying citizens. Does he think that living on a homestead exempts one from property taxes? Does he suppose that their vehicles don’t have license plates or that their fuel is purchased without the requisite state gasoline tax? Or that maybe they have some special card that lets them buy things like feed without paying sales tax? Perhaps homesteading equipment like tractors and tools and off-grid appliances are likewise purchased without any gain to “society.”
As well, he’s under the assumption, based on his vast body of knowledge gleaned from watching TV, that self-reliant homesteaders don’t make any money or have any insurance. I know homesteaders who are retirees from other jobs who have a fine pension and excellent health insurance. I know others who make a good living with their homesteading endeavors. And there are still others who live simply after working for years to pay cash for their homestead, or families in which one spouse works a full-time job to support the homestead.
But, Ozimek, whose informed point of view comes from only the most extreme of the group featured on for-profit-and-ratings television shows, doesn’t understand that. He continues to espouse the superiority of the non-agrarian lifestyle:
If we all lived “self-reliant” lives like Tony often implores us, spending most of our time on basic agricultural subsistence, then modern hospitals couldn’t exist. It’s only because most of us choose to not live agrarian “self-reliant” lifestyles that this care would be available to Tony, Amelia, and perhaps someday, their children. And what if both of them become too injured to work the land anymore? Would they starve to death, or would they survive off of the social safety net our government provides, like food stamps?
In fairness to Tony, Amelia, and Colbert, perhaps they would refuse the modern medical care and modest safety net in the case of an accident or illness, and would simply choose to die. I don’t think most homesteaders would, but we don’t know.
Yeah, because homesteaders can’t do anything but homestead.
Some people are producers and other people are consumers.
Ozimek thinks that someone with the extensive skills required to live off the grid would be completely unable to find employment and would have no option but to become a welfare recipient should their homesteading endeavor fall apart.
What he’s missing is that his cushy “civilized” lifestyle is completely reliant on the type of people he scorns. He forgets that someone, somewhere is growing his food. Someone, somewhere, is assuring that his energy reaches his home. Someone is ensuring that his plumbing works, someone is repairing his furnace if it breaks, and someone is transporting the goods he purchases to the store, where someone will sell him those goods.
Pretty much everyone is well aware of the flight or fight response. Whenever humans encounter a dangerous situation, their sympathetic nervous system kicks into gear. Adrenaline is dumped into our bloodstreams, our senses are heightened, our reflexes quicken, and we become relatively immune to the sensation of pain. Then we make a decision. Depending on what we’re dealing with, we either fight what is threatening us, or we run from it.
However, there is another aspect of this fear response that isn’t talked about as much. It should really be called the “fight, flight, or freeze” response because there’s a good chance that you’ll freeze under pressure rather than act. It’s not uncommon for people to do absolutely nothing when something or someone is threatening them, and it’s a response that you can’t really control. When it happens, it’s like being paralyzed.
At first glance, it sounds like a cruel joke, courtesy of evolution, and is often seen as a sign of personal weakness. In reality, it is neither of those things, though it is a natural biological response to danger that can be beneficial in certain circumstances. Just as we evolved to have an extreme physical reaction to danger that includes fighting or running away, we have evolved to involuntarily stop moving in certain situations, and there are a few reasons why we do this.
One is that when we freeze under pressure, our senses are just as heightened as they would be if we were running or fighting. We freeze to assess the situation before we act. We also freeze in the presence of predators, which is a kind of defense mechanism. If an animal or person is stalking us, by freezing we aren’t making sounds and we aren’t giving away our position.
And finally, humans freeze in situations where they perceive a threat that appears to be too strong for us to fight or run away from. The brain enters a dissociative state that can’t process the environment when you feel like your situation is absolutely hopeless. In this state, you can’t really hear or see what’s around you, and you can’t feel what’s happening to you. Your brain basically forces you to play dead, so that whatever is trying to hurt you will hopefully give up, and so that your psyche is protected from physical and emotional trauma.
Of course, this response isn’t always helpful. A classic example that is found in nature, is how deer often respond to seeing the headlights of oncoming traffic. They freeze when they obviously should run or retreat. Likewise, your brain isn’t a perfect judge of dangerous situations. Sometimes you can freeze when it would be smarter to run or fight (or if you have anxiety or PTSD, you might freeze under totally harmless circumstances). You can get stuck in that mental state, unable to act on avoidable danger.
As for how to overcome this biological response, it’s not an easy task. You don’t really control when you freeze, and your options for slipping out of this state are pretty limited. The only technique scientists have discovered, is taking deep, controlled breaths.
The new findings from research team at Bristol offer helpful insights for better understanding the root of paralyzing fear coming from deep inside the brain. Fear-evoked freezing is a universal response. Luckily, each of us can flex some cognitive muscle to override these innate neurobiological impulses.
Taking a few deep breaths in any fearful situation will stimulate the vagus nerve and the “rest-and-digest” aspects of the parasympathetic nervous system. This relaxation response unclamps the neurobiological grip of fear and allows us to “unfreeze” and move freely.
And that’s pretty much it. Unfortunately, it’s not clear if that will work in all circumstances. If for instance, you’ve reached the point where your mind is dissociating from the outside world to avoid mental trauma, it doesn’t seem likely that taking deep breaths would help you snap out of it. And even if it could, would you want to be aware of a horrific situation that you have no control over?
by Richard Sauder, Event Horizon Chronicle, via SGT Report: This blog concerns itself with the rapidly approaching Event Horizon towards which this planet and all of humanity are more and more quickly tumbling. Either you see that something big is coming, or you do not. Most likely, if you are reading my blog, you are aware to some degree that we are in a giant, global, decision tree, and that a decisive fork in the road is coming up, or that we have already blithely zoomed past the fork in the road, and the die has already been irretrievably cast!
To wit: we will shortly experience either the very worst of times or the very best of times, but not both at the same time. Our future really is binary.
Image from 2009 film ‘The Road’ starring Viggo Mortensen
At this point it doesn’t matter much what Trump does or doesn’t do, what he says or doesn’t say. The same goes for Soros, Putin, Clinton ♂ or ♀, Bush père or fils, Macron, Merkel, Yellen, Obama, etc. — none of them matter greatly in the grand scheme of things. Theoretically, they all could matter greatly, but in reality they do not matter much at this point. They are analogous to small children playing in a sand box with nuclear weapons and trillions of dollars worth of resources and squabbling and bickering over whose sand pail is whose, and whose sand castle is better, and who has the rights to which corner of the sand box and under precisely what, constantly changing, infantile terms.
You see, time has just about run out on us and the events that will be transpiring in the near future, which I am defining as the next six months to ten years, at the maximum, will be so staggering in their import that they will greatly exceed anything that any political party, national government, corporate consortium, religious movement, multi-billionaire(s) or central banking conglomerate can possibly meaningfully alter; even presuming that any of them had the desire and vision to do so, which in the main they do not, so the future results are baked in the cake, so to speak, and they will be highly nonlinear, not to say, spectacular.
Putting Things In Perspective
I say that because we live on a dying planet. Even if there is not a horrific, global economic crash or a shooting nuclear war in the coming months and years, we are still looking at a likely extinction of humankind within the next ten to fifteen years.
It all has to do with the function of exponents, or, more precisely, with the exponentially accelerating rate of species extinction on this planet.
By 2020 conservation biologists calculate that the world will lose two-thirds of all wildlife. The oceans are dying, because of factory fishing, toxic run-off from sewerage, industrial and agricultural pollutants, plastic accumulation, radioactivity from Fukushima, sonic pollution from military naval activities, and more. The great, tropical and boreal forests are being cut down, are disappearing. Urban sprawl and destruction of more and more countryside to provide resources for global, burgeoning, urban populations are leading to still more wildlife die-off. Think: strip mining of mountains and other large tracts of land for copper, coal, uranium, etc. and the resulting toxic run-off of water into streams and rivers, and ensuing loss of aquatic life — fish, crayfish, turtles, frogs, etc. Think: cutting down of forests for crop and pasture land, to feed an ever growing, global population. All of this implies massive habitat loss and die-off of more and more wildlife.
Until nature breaks down and doesn’t work anymore. And we are moving into that zone right now.
I’ll make it real simple and non-mathematical. If the first two-thirds of global wildlife will be dead within less than three years from now, the remaining third will not take 25 years to disappear. It will all go so very much more quickly than that. The remaining wildlife will vanish more and more quickly and the final unraveling of the global ecology will go by in a trice.
Of course, the human race is at the apex of the global ecological chain, so as the ecological chain fails, it’s like any other chain — as the links break, it suddenly is not a chain anymore and completely falls apart.
The end of humanity will thus be dizzyingly fast, chaotic and tumultuous, and will occur in the relatively near future, unless humanity as a whole does a radical, 180 degree turn in its thinking and behavior, which appears unlikely at this juncture. There are serious researchers such as Guy McPherson (look him up), who is a PhD biologist, by the way, who are estimating that humanity has ten years left and then it is all over. Dead at our own hands. A terminally stupid — soon extinct species.
I live in South America and I have see the destruction of the Amazon forest at first-hand: logging (legal and illegal), illegal hunting, illegal collecting of exotic flora and fauna, legal and illegal clearing of forest for crop and pasture land, clearing of forest for roads, futbol fields, parking lots, residential housing, power line rights of way, etc. Add in more destruction of forest for legal and illegal mining, petroleum drilling, oil pipelines — and you are looking at the death of the Amazon forest, a priceless biological and hydrological treasure. The same or similar is happening to the tropical forests in Asia, Africa and Central America.
I am thinking again of the Deagel.com numbers which prognosticate an extreme, astonishing reduction in population numbers for many countries by 2025, nowhere more so than in the USSA, Germany, the United Kingdom, Israel, Spain, France and Australia.
I surmise that over the next one to ten years the combination of war, economic failure, both natural and “un”- natural disasters, ecological collapse and the meteoric rise of A.I. and robotics will lay waste to a large swath of humanity
What is coming will be both spiritual and physical and will rock the world and humanity to the core, in every way. This is a great inflection point in the history of the Earth and the human race.
Anyone who has two, firing neurons can see what is looming up just ahead.
The War Danger
War is a massive, violent, economic reset tool that so-called ruling “elites” have long used to get rid of large numbers of unwanted people. With the rise of A.I. and robotics and the concomitant obsolescence of the hundreds of millions of workers they will replace, and the coming wave of the many tens and tens of millions of retiring, post-WWII baby boomers, who will be expecting retirement pensions and social security payments from large corporations and government agencies — well, if those hundreds of millions of displaced, permanently out of work “workers” and countless millions of retirees are physically obilterated and physically no longer exist then governments and corporations do not need to pay any pensions or unemployment benefits, now do they?
You see, war is a business, a very, very big business. It is all about the money, and clearing liabilities from the books, hundreds of millions of liabilities.
Then you can start over again, without having to worry about paying out all those trillions of dollars in pensions and benefits to many millions of pesky, elderly retirees and hundreds of millions of unemployed, grumbling, complaining, superfluous “workers” who will never work again.
And so you see the danger of a major war, to clear the corporate and national accounts of 750 million “liabilities”.
I believe that the risk of something like a spectacular, multi-city, nuclear false flag attack is very real, to be falsely blamed on North Korea or Iran or Russia or …. you fill in the blank, because those who stage the false attack(s) will certainly falsely point their finger at their preferred villain du jour.
If that happens, you can take it to the bank that whomever or whatever is blamed for the dastardly deed(s) is most probably not culpable. Were there to be a multi-city, nuclear attack, my immediate supsicion would fall on the same parties behind the 9-11 attacks: Israelis, Zionists, NeoCons, Mossad, CIA, NORAD, FBI, FEMA, Pentagon, etc.
Why? Because of their violent history of false flag attacks, especially including the events of 9-11.
SGT NOTE: Recall the message on the Georgia Guidestones which calls for a drastic reduction in global population
A Supernatural “Event” In Early 2018?
That said, reality is endlessly multi-facted and I have watched with interest the recent work of certain hypno-therapists, such as Allison Coe, some of whose clients over the last year or so, have taken to speaking in deep hypnotic trance of an approaching, world changing “Event” that will allegedly take place on Earth in the near future, perhaps as soon as early 2018. Assuming that these hypnotic sessions are not some sort of alphabet soup agency, Internet psy-op, then perhaps there will be a major, unforeseen event of unknown and unknowable character that will substtantially alter our reality in the next half year or year or two.
I don’t presume to know, one way or the other, what will happen. I am here for the ride, just like you. I will find out what happens, when it happens, along with everyone else. What I do presume is that we, humanity and the planet, cannot continue for much longer on our current trajectory. Something must massively change, for better or for worse, and it will.
Our future really is binary.
Either things will get much better, and soon;
Or things will get much worse, and soon.

DEEP UNDERGROUND BASES & THE SATANIC BREAKAWAY STATE — Dr. Richard Sauder
The rapid post-election growth of the left’s so-called “anti-fascist” (Antifa) movement is alarming. This movement has some clear parallels to the draft protests of the late 1960s. These protests spawned a wave of domestic terrorism with groups like the Weather Underground, the Black Panther Party, the BLA, the FALN, and the SLA. Anyone reading this who is under my age is probably missing out. This is because they don’t have a good recollection of just how profoundly violent the late 1960s and early 1970s were in these United States. Bombings, fake bomb scares, riots, arson, bank robberies, airliner hijackings, attempted assassinations, and kidnappings were all too commonplace.
This period of upheaval all started a few years earlier with large college campus anti-war/anti-draft protests staged by the SDS. But some of those “activists” spun out of control. Soon, an amalgamation of inner city blacks and privileged college whites became increasingly radicalized. Although the FALN bombing campaign continued into the early 1980s, the most memorable climactic event of this age of domestic terrorism came in May of 1974 with the much-publicized SLA shootout. Near the end of the “Golden Age of Terror”, President Gerald Ford survived two assassination attempts in rapid succession–both perpetrated by white women. One was a wacky Manson family follower but the other was a dyed-in-the-wool leftist and a fan of the SLA.
For some fascinating reading about this turbulent era, I highly recommend Bryan Burrough’s book Days of Rage. The gist of his book was well-captured in a recent book review at the Lawfare blog.
History Rhymes There is an oft-quoted modern proverb: “History doesn’t repeat, but it often rhymes.” I posit that a similar age of terror is now dawning in the United States, as radicalized Clintonista uber-Democrats ramp up from street protests to overt acts of terrorism. (The attempted assassination of Congressman Scalise by James Hodgkinson was just a precursor event. In the tech world, Hodgkinson would be called an early adopter.) I predict that the greatest threat will come from the radical left, rather than from the right.
Most alarmingly, we now live in the 21st Century era of cyberwarfare, neurotoxins, and off-the-shelf quadracopter drones. So the potential damage that just a few malcontents can wreak is enormous.
No More Open Air Speeches I will go so far as to predict that traditional open-air speeches by politicians will become a thing of the past. Weaponized drones will be difficult to stop. I first warned of the misuse of such technologies back in 1990, when I authored a two-part feature article titled High Technology Terrorism, for Defense Electronics magazine. (At the time, I was an Associate Editor for the magazine, and was already living at a ranch near Orofino, Idaho. There, I prototyped a telecommute life at the sedate rate of 2400 baud.)
Lest anyone should chide me about describing particular technologies that could be used by terrorists, keep in mind that much of what I’ll be mentioning has been in print for more than 27 years. Yes, I wrote about most of these technologies way back then–although then I mentioned radio-controlled model airplanes rather than foreseeing modern quadracopter drones. But even my early writings on this subject were little more than an intellectual traverse from a Rand Corporation report published in 1975. In more recent years, the US CIA has documented in open sources the variety of chemical agents that might be used by terrorists. In recent years there have been dozens of articles penned on the subject.
Threat Spirals Modern western military analysts and planners often use the term threat spiral. This describes a situation wherein a nation state reacts to a threat to its security by instituting particular countermeasures and technologies. Their opponent(s) then react to these innovations by adopting new, more powerful technologies of their own, and then the spiral expands.
In recent memory, one of the best examples of a threat spiral was seen in the development of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) warfare in the Middle East and Southwest Asia. Heavily armed convoys that at were difficult to attack with small arms and RPGs. So in reaction, terrorists began using radio-controlled IEDs (RCIEDs). They cleverly used detonators controlled by standard cellular phones. This was a technology perfected by Iran. For more than 15 years, the Iraninan-made RCIED circuit cards (and detailed instructions on explosive-formed penetrators (EFPs) have been widely distributed in Arabic to Islamic terrorist groups–both Shiite and Sunni.)
In reaction to the RCIEDs, the U.S. and Coalition military fielded up-armored Humvees. These were soon supplemented by South African-designed mine protected vehicles. The next arm of the spiral (the counter-countermeasure) of the Islamic terrorists was simple. They merely constructed much more powerful IEDs. These blasts were capable of destroying not just MRAPs but even main battle tanks. (Typically these IEDs used two or even three 122mm artillery shell warheads lashed together, for sympathetic detonation.) The spiral continued with the fielding of CREW systems: Counter RCIED Electronic Warfare systems. This was circa 2000 to 2007. CREWs are sophisticated reactive jammers that block cellular phone signals in the area near a convoy or a protected point target. Western military organizations are now fielding a third generation of CREW systems.

There is no shortage of Hollywood movies featuring lone wolf hero types steeped in the warrior culture who possess highly deadly skills using a variety of weapons and hand-to-hand combat.
But the reality is, those men and women are so few and far between, they barely register as a percentage of the population.
Then again, movies features average Joes and Janes who muddle their way through life as little more than cannon fodder when stuff hits the fan wouldn’t do too well at the box office. And yet, that is a more accurate depiction of the general public.
by JD Heyes, BugOut News:
A new report has concluded that despite the attention being given to protecting the nation’s power grid in a world where the threat of cyber attack grows daily, it remains highly vulnerable to a breach that, if large parts of the grid are destroyed, would lead to the deaths of millions of Americans.
As reported by Homeland Security Newswire, the congressionally-mandated study by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine found that the grid remains highly vulnerable to a range of threats that could inflict massive damage resulting in long-term power outages that would cost billions to repair and inflict huge loss of life.
by Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, All News Pipeline:
U.S. nuclear deterrent modernization should not put “old wine in new bottles” by merely upgrading missiles and bombers to deliver old-fashioned nuclear weapons on antiquated missions.
New-design nuclear weapons — and new operational plans — are needed for deterring and defeating the new way of warfare being planned by our potential enemies.
Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran plan a revolution in military affairs combining cyber-attacks with nuclear electromagnetic pulse (EMP) to decisively defeat enemy military forces and paralyze entire nations.
They envision using low-yield nuclear weapons, specially designed to generate EMP, what Russia calls Super-EMP weapons. EMP attack detonates a warhead in outer space. So no blast, radiation, or other nuclear effects reach the ground, only the EMP.
