Swimmer Riley Gaines, an outspoken advocate against transgender athletes in women’s sports, bashed a letter allegedly sent to the Harvard swim team gaslighting them about competing with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.
Lia Thomas, a man living as a woman, became a household name in 2022 after he dominated the competition while competing against females, winning first place in the women’s 500-yard freestyle event in the NCAA’s swimming championship. At the height of the controversy, members of the Harvard swim team were allegedly given a letter essentially gaslighting them about competing with a man.

If you look at the latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor, you will see that almost all of America’s heartland is now in some state of drought. Much of Kansas is dealing with either “severe” or “exceptional” drought, and in previous articles I have written about how this will impact the winter wheat harvest. But now areas that grow most of our corn and most of our soy are also getting absolutely hammered by drought. If this drought in America’s breadbasket continues through the summer, we are going to have a very serious problem on our hands.

Setting acceptable margins of safety is nothing new; indeed we all do it every day although very few of us admit to it. There’s a roughly 1 in 8,000 risk you will die in a car wreck (no, its not an “accident” 99% of the time; “accident” implies nobody did anything stupid and most of the time when there’s a car wreck someone did) in a given year. Some people of course are at greater risk than others; the little old lady in a nursing home is at zero risk as she never goes anywhere, but with ~40,000 deaths a year from this and 330 million people in America the odds are what they are.

Moroccans will soon be able to use their digital identity for accessing health services after government representatives signed an agreement that allows hospitals and other medical institutions to verify the identity of patients through the scheme.
The deal was signed on Friday between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection (CNDP) and the General Directorate for National Security, Middle East Online reports.
Moroccan citizens can choose to include some of their health data in the electronic chip of the national identity card, including patient number, social protection number and other health data.
