Rohrabacher Cites Ex-Intel VIPS Report In Denouncing Russian Hacking

by Elizabeth Vos, Disobedient Media:

Republican Congressman Rep. Rohrabacher released a statement earlier this month which indicated he had drawn congress’s attention to a Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) report. The VIPS memorandum, which was addressed to President Trump, stated that the DNC was most likely had not been hacked, by Russia or anyone else. The report, signed by respected intelligence leaders such as former NSA technical director William Binney, veteran CIA analyst Ray McGovern and John Kiriakou among others, cited analysis of the Guccifer 2.0 metadata which had been conducted by an anonymous source known as the Forensicator.

The VIPS report also cites Disobedient Media‘s article on the Forensicator’s analysis. Disobedient Media was the first media outlet to report on the Forensicator‘s groundbreaking findings. Their analysis suggested that the data published by Guccifer 2.0 as the NGP-VAN files had been locally copied on the east coast of the U.S., most likely with direct access to a computer which had access to the DNC information.

The metadata of these particular files are significant to the Russian hacking narrative because Guccifer 2.0 had claimed responsibility for the DNC ‘hack,’ while claiming to have been based in Romania. Guccifer 2.0 is still being cited by legacy media as the ‘hacker’ of the DNC. This would be utterly invalidated if the Forensicator’s findings are proven to be correct.

The statement published by Rohrabacher earlier in August related that VIPS’ findings, which were sparked by the Forensicator’s analysis, destroys the credibility of the charges that Russia hacked the DNC system. Rohrabacher’s statement also expressed that the VIPS findings invalidated claims that Russia impacted the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election. Rohrabacher chairs the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats.

His statement reads in part: “These bogus charges have done great damage to our ability to work with Russia and have distracted the American people from the real threat of radical Islamic terrorism. This phony campaign has been used to disrupt the right of our new president to accomplish his goals and set the policies approved by the American voters.”Rohrabacher has distributed the report to his colleagues.

Rohrabacher made headlines recently after a three hour meeting with Julian Assange, after which the congressman claimed that Assange had confirmed the Russian hacking narrative is false. Rohrabacher also claimed that Assange had indicated he might reveal this proof to the public. However, Julian Assangequickly clarified via Twitter that he does not make statements through third parties and that only official statements made by him directly or through his lawyers should be considered authoritative.

The LA Times and other media reports following the meeting related that Assange could potentially be pardoned as a result of these latest events. Rohrabacher has said that he will speak with President Trump before going public with any information that might be revealed. It comes as no surprise to this author that soon after Rohrabacher’s meeting with Assange, The Washington Post reported calls had been made for investigation into  Rohrabacher’s relationship with Russia.

This latest news may prove to be of huge significance not only in potentially dismissing a scandal which saw a dramatic increase in tension between two nuclear states, but also in refocusing public attention towards the serious corruption in the DNC that emerged in the substance of the DNC emails. The DNC’s reaction to their publication may also come under increasing scrutiny if ‘Russian hacking’ claims are dismissed.

Donald Trump Finally Comes Out of the Closet

by Michael Krieger, Liberty Blitzkrieg:

The firing of Steve Bannon is in my opinion the most significant event to happen during the Trump administration thus far. Moreover, it will have massive reverberations across the U.S. political spectrum for years and years to come. I wasn’t planning on writing today, but this news is so incredibly significant I find myself with little choice.

Taking a step back, part of the reason I was immediately able to see through the Trump con was due to my upbringing in New York City. The guy was constantly in the news my entire life, so I had a pretty decent understanding of where he was really coming from and what makes him tick. The mindset of your typical NYC-based billionaire real estate developer is filled with all sorts of perspectives and priorities, but thoughts of populism are not amongst them.

Trump used populism to get elected, and then as soon as he won, immediately appointed some of the most destructive oligarchs imaginable to run his administration. The reason I warned about this incessantly at the time, is because I learned the lesson from the Obama administration. People = policy, and the people Trump was elevating were almost unanimously awful. Irrespective of what you think of Bannon, him being out means Wall Street and the military-industrial complex is now 100{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} in control of the Trump administration. Prepare for an escalation of imperial war around the world and an expansion of brutal oligarchy.

The removal of Bannon is the end of even a facade of populism. This is now the Goldman Sachs Presidency with a thin-skinned, unthinking authoritarian as a figurehead. Meanwhile, guess who’s still there in addition to the Goldman executives? Weed obsessed, civil asset forfeiture supporting Jefferson Sessions. The Trump administration just bacame ten times more dangerous than it was before. With the coup successful, Trump no longer needs to be impeached.

Here’s another prediction. Watch the corporate media start to lay off Trump a bit more going forward. Rather than hysterically demonize him for every little thing, corporate media will increasingly give him more of the benefit of the doubt. After all, a Presidency run by Goldman Sachs and generals is exactly what they like. Trump finally came out of the closet as the anti-populist oligarch he is, and the results won’t be pretty.

Corporate media got the scalp it wanted, so the hysterical criticisms of him will die down. This is not to say I think the media will become pro-Trump, it just means the obsessive and aggressive propaganda will be dialed back considerably. Trump is now inline, and he will be rewarded by the establishment for that. He will learn that the more he gets with the program, the easier his life will be and the more secure his power. He is merely being conditioned, and my forecast is that Trump will gladly embrace the worst parts of the establishment going forward. Why? Because Trump’s true worldview fits in way more with Goldman Sachs and the military-industrial complex than with populism. It always has. The whole thing was just an act to get elected. Firing Bannon is just Trump coming home to who he always was. A ruthless oligarch.

Now I’m going to make a few predictions about the political environment going forward. First, I think right-populism or the “new right,” is deeply damaged and this presents a huge opportunity for left-leaning populists if they are smart about it. Let’s begin by discussing why this is so problematic for the “new right.”

At this point, something has become undeniable. Trump voters who supported him based on the idea that he would bring forth an agenda of economic populism got played. I understand that many other people just voted for him as a middle finger to the system, but for the true believers who thought he had their backs, it’s now long past the time to pack up your bags. I don’t say this out of pleasure, I genuinely hoped he would push forth an agenda of economic populism, but now we know for certain this is never going to happen. That much is pretty undeniable.

Nevertheless, just because something is undeniable, doesn’t mean it won’t be denied. Too many people have invested way too much in Trump to admit they got played. Sure, there will be outrage for a few days and people will swear to be “off the Trump train,” but as soon as the next wedge social issue gets played up by the media, they’ll be right back onboard. I expect excuses from “new right” leaders to come within a few days, or weeks at the most. Remember, many people built up their entire careers and public profiles by cheerleading Trump into office. Most of these people are egomaniacs. What does an egomaniac do when confronted with information that they got something wrong? Do they publicly admit their error and give credit to those who voiced skepticism, or will they figure out a way to change the subject in order to maintain their relevance and position amongst their fans? I think you know the answer.

As such, right-populism is at a crossroads and this is what I expect to happen. The same people who so passionately convinced people to get on the “Trump train” will be far more concerned with maintaining as much of their social media status as possible, versus doing what’s right for the country. There are enough unthinking fans out there to allow this to happen. That said, the movement will be harmed immensely because enough intelligent people will see that many of these new right pundits aren’t who they say they are. The credibility gap will widen and widen, as it should. Trump was a fake and if you were so easily tricked by Trump, why should we trust you on any other subject?

Right-populism is now very much discredited, as its leader has been shown to be nothing more than a narcissistic con-man. This will not be an easy hole to dig out of, yet with some deep reflection, my hope is a new right populism can emerge that is more in tune with Rand Paul than Donald Trump. That’d be nice, but I have my doubts.

As such, an enormous opportunity has opened up for left-leaning economic populism. I already predicted this wave in a piece a few weeks ago titled,Politics of the Next 4 Years – Part 1 (Rise of the ‘Dirtbag Left’). Here’s some of what I wrote:

This faction of leftism is waging war against Clinton neoliberal frauds and Trump’s fake populism at the exact same time. Not an easy thing to do, but I think there’s a huge and growing unsatisfied demand for such a perspective.

A lot of you will discount the appeal of this movement because many of its most high-profile members are unabashed socialists. This is a big mistake. Remember, Donald Trump won the Presidency not because he was especially great or loved, but because his opponent was terrible, he talked in populist terms, and people just wanted to give a middle finger to the political establishment and corporate media. If that’s right, what’s to stop a movement from winning power if it promises to flip the bird to both Trump and Clinton while also making you laugh? Not much.

I think the “DirtBag Left” will catch the Trump team completely off guard over the next few years. The reason Trump’s prospects look pretty good right now for a second term is because there’s no real organized opposition to him. By real organized opposition, I mean a movement driven by actual ideas and passion that is also working on a plan to run a competitive candidate in 2020. The current “resistance” consists of Hillary donors, neocons, the corporate media and elements of the deep state. While Trump complains about this opposition constantly, he doesn’t realize how good he has it. The American public hates those factions more than they hate Trump, and nobody wants to vote for that discredited garbage in 2020.

If the genuine left is smart, it will take a step back and see this for the gigantic opening it is. Lots of Trump voters are now up for grabs, and if they can come up with a genuine message of economic populism that avoids the typical leftist pitfalls — such as supporting misguided young people dressing up like ninjas, carrying flags and hurling rocks at people trying to give a talk — the opportunity to create a populist movement of immense national significance is there. People across the country are craving it, but they want nothing to do with antifa, political correctness, or aggression against free speech. Noam Chomsky gets it, and I hope others heed his words.

There is a Coup Underway Against President Trump

by Harley Schlanger, LaRouchePac,

In a desperate attempt to defend its collapsing “Russiagate” narrative, the Washington Post launched an attack on The Nation magazine for its August 9 article by Patrick Lawrence, “A New Report Raises Big Questions About Last Year’s DNC Hack.”  Lawrence’s article, in the most prestigious left/progressive magazine in the U.S., broke the attempted media blackout of the memo sent by the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) on July 24 to President Trump, which effectively refutes the claims of Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election, allegedly through “hacking” Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails and releasing them to Wikileaks.  Despite more than twelve months of non-stop charges against the Russians, and claims of Trump’s collusion with Russia, not a shred of hard evidence has yet been presented to back these allegations, which are at the heart of the coup plot being run against the President.

The Nation article was followed by a prominent story in Bloomberg News and one in Salon magazine, which both reported on the Nation article, and the VIPS memo, and how it challenges the narrative that Trump owes his election victory to Putin and Russia.  That story was concocted by leading figures in British intelligence, and leaked to the U.S. media by corrupt elements of Obama’s intelligence team, led by the trio of Brennan, Clapper and Comey, as part of the “regime change” against Trump they launched after his November 2016 election victory.  Brennan set up a task force to look into the Russian meddling charges after a former British Ambassador to Moscow, Sir Andrew Wood, delivered a fraudulent dossier, prepared by an “ex”-MI6 operative, to Brennan, through anti-Trump Senator John McCain.

The attack on The Nation was posted on the Post’s “Eric Wemple Blog” on August 15, and is a blatant attempt to force The Nation’s editors to not merely repudiate the Lawrence article, but to join the campaign against Trump’s desire for cooperation with Russia.  Wemple’s attempt to dismiss the authoritative report of the VIPS has no substance, and is written to bludgeon the magazine’s editors to adopt the talking points of the coup plotters.  As such, it presents the same weak, sophistical argument presented by the DNC, which released a statement on the VIPS memo which simply reasserted the conclusion reached by “U.S. intelligence agencies” of Russian interference, adding, “Any suggestion otherwise is false, and is just another conspiracy theory like those pushed by Trump and his administration.”

Such dangerous silliness was countered by Salon’s Danielle Ryan, who wrote on August 15, “For the media and mainstream liberals to dismiss information presented in The Nation as lacking in evidence would be breathtakingly ironic, given how little evidence they required to build a narrative” against Trump and Putin.  She concluded that if the VIPS memo is right, “those who pushed the Russia hacking narrative with little evidence have a lot to answer for.”

It is the inability of those pushing this narrative to provide any answer, except for obsessive repetition of the charges, which explains why the whole “Russiagate” scandal is collapsing, and has gained no traction from the American people.  Adding to their troubles is the report of a discussion between U.S. Representative Dana Rohrabacher, and Wikileaks’ founder Julian Assange, on August 16. Rohrabacher, who has been openly critical of Russiagate, and has defended Putin against charges that he was directly involved in the “meddling”, said that Assange will soon present his evidence that it was not the Russians who leaked the DNC emails to him, which confirms the conclusion reached by the VIPS.

This is the context for the present hysteria being whipped up following last weekend’s violent confrontation in Charlottesville, Virginia, between right-wing, “white nationalist” demonstrators and a club-wielding “antifa” mob.  This was a staged confrontation, designed to smear Trump as a “racist”, for not adequately — in the eyes of the pro-regime change media — placing blame on the right-wing extremists for the confrontation.  In his comments on the riot, Trump correctly noted that there were armed thugs on both sides.  Others have noted that the police did nothing to separate the two gangs, as one would expect from law enforcement officials.

Executive Intelligence Review has documented how the FBI has a long history of launching racial confrontations, through infiltrating professional provocateurs into both “right” and “left” gangs, in a classic gang-countergang operation, which was developed by British intelligence to control colonial populations.  These are the “color revolution” methods, deployed by Anglo-American networks around the world, for regime change against targeted governments.  These methods are now being deployed against a U.S. President, whose election upset the plans for permanent war between East and West.  The antifa thugs and their “liberal” defenders are funded by the same City of London operative George Soros, who prominently collaborated with U.S. neocons, operating under Hillary Clinton’s State Department cover, to overthrow the elected Yanukovic government of Ukraine (See EIR Special Report, “Obama and Soros: Nazis in Ukraine 2014 — U.S. in 2017?”, February 24, 2017).

It is another irony that the same media which is today explicitly defending the “leftist” antifa thugs against “right-wing” neo-Nazis, offered full support for the murderous neo-Nazi gangs which precipitated the Maidan coup against Yanukovic.  There are even some making the outrageous claim that America’s “white nationalists” are receiving support from Russia’s President Putin, despite the major sacrifice of the Russian people in fighting the Nazis in the Second World War, which has shaped Putin’s world view, and is behind his principled stand against the Nazi Banderistas who carried out murder in the Maidan, and are prominent in the defense and security ministries in Ukraine today.

There is another factor driving the desperate escalation by the war party to oust Trump, one not reported by the Goebbels-style propagandists among western media, but of enormous significance for humanity.  As the media was hyping the nuclear war threat from North Korea, the Trump administration ramped up its diplomatic efforts to avoid war.  On August 10, U.S. Secretary of State Tillerson stated that the U.S. does not seek regime change in North Korea.  “We are not your enemy,” he said, adding that the U.S. wishes to have a dialogue which could provide security and economic prosperity for North Korea.  The Associated Press reported that, unlike Obama, who refused to have contact with the Kim Jong-Un government, there is now a back channel opened for talks.

On August 12, Trump spoke by phone with Chinese President Xi Jinping.  According to a statement released by the White House, “the relationship between the two presidents is an extremely close one, and will hopefully lead to a peaceful resolution of the North Korea problem.”  At the same time, the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford has been touring Asia, with meetings in South Korea and China.  In Seoul, he emphasized that the U.S. seeks a diplomatic solution, saying he intends to do “everything we absolutely can to support Secretary Tillerson’s current path.”  South Korea’s President Moon agreed, adding that he would not accept a war on the Korean peninsula.

Dunford’s next stop was in China, where he engaged in extensive discussions with his Chinese counterpart, General Fang Fenghui.  Acknowledging that there are “difficult issues” between the two countries, Dunford said, “I know we share one thing: We share a commitment to work through these difficult issues.”  General Fang said that these meetings will expand the dialogue begun by Trump and Xi at their Mar-e-Lago summit last April, and he wishes to help Dunford “know more about our military, (boost) our cooperation and build up our friendship.”  The two signed a joint strategic dialogue mechanism, to allow for direct communication which will “enable us to communicate to reduce the risk of miscalculation.”  Prior to Dunford’s meetings, Tillerson noted that the U.S. does not blame China for the recent tensions around North Korea.

In large part due to this extensive dialogue, the war tensions in Asia have been reduced, and Kim Jong Un has stepped back from his threat to launch a strike aimed toward Guam.  It should also be noted that the Russians are also playing an important role in seeking a diplomatic solution with North Korea.  On August 6, at the ASEAN summit in Manila, Tillerson met with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov.  While much of their meeting involved the implications of the new sanctions against Russia passed by the Congress, and the Russian response, expelling some 755 U.S. diplomatic personnel from Russia, they also discussed continuing the cooperation in Syria, and joint efforts to resolve the problems with Ukraine and North Korea.  Before Gen. Dunford left for Asia, he spoke on August 8 with the Russian Chief of Staff Gerasimov, who said that they discussed military collaboration against ISIS and Al-Nusra in Syria and Iraq, and expanding the de-escalation zones, with the promise of a peaceful settlement of the bloody Syrian civil war, which had been extended by Obama’s support for regime change.

Instead of gaining support, or at least recognition, for these diplomatic initiatives, the media, and Trump’s political opponents in the U.S. and Europe, insist that war is inevitable if Trump is not removed.  Again, this drive comes from the British, with echoes in the U.S. Deep State.  In June, a book was released by a Guardian reporter, Jonathan Freedland, under a pseudonym, Sam Bourne, titled “To Kill the President.”  Freedland was the Guardian’s Washington correspondent during the 2016 election.  Favorably reviewed by a Guardian reporter as a “political thriller,” the story revolves around a decision, by the U.S. Secretary of Defense — a General — and the Chief of Staff, that the President — who is obviously modeled on Trump, who they conclude is deranged — must be removed, after he tries to launch a nuclear strike on North Korea.  Believing that neither impeachment, nor applying the 25th amendment, is possible, they decide he must be assassinated.

For Freedland, this is not fiction!  On August 9, he wrote in his Guardian column, “Trump has taken us to the bring of nuclear war.  Can he be stopped?”  He followed this two days later with another column, writing that, “Anyone hoping the Deep State will depose an unhinged American president before all-out war with North Korea needs to think again.”  Stopping short of advocating assassination in this column, he concludes that the only hope is Mueller, i.e., impeachment based on the investigation of the Special Counsel.

Another Brit, this one an ex-pat, John Cassidy, wrote an article for the New Yorker, titled “Who will put an end to Donald Trump’s warmongering?”  Cassidy is the former editor of the Sunday Times of London.  As with Freedland, he brings up the prospect of removing Trump under the 25th amendment, but concludes that the political will to do that does not exist.

And on U.S. television, on August 11, a former CIA and FBI counter-terrorism expert, Phil Mudd openly declared, “As a former government official, government’s going to kill this guy,” attacking Trump for, among other crimes, defending Putin and rejecting U.S. intelligence estimates.  Mudd served as the former Deputy Director of the CIA Counterterrorist Center.  In 2005, he was appointed by then-FBI Director Robert Mueller to serve as the Deputy Director of the FBI’s National Security Branch.

A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand

by Paul Craig Roberts, Paul Craig Roberts:

The liberal/progressive/left are enjoying their drunkfest of denunciation. I can’t say I have ever witnessed anything like it. These are the people who sat on their hands for 16 years while Washington destroyed in whole or part seven countries. Not being satisfied with this level of warmongering and crimes against humanity, Washington orchestrated a conflict situation with Russia. Americans elected a president who said he would defuse this dangerous conflict, and the liberal/progressive/left turned on him. In contrast, one person is killed after the hated Charlottesville protest event was over, and there is endless absurd outrage against the president of the US.

Three New York Times presstitutes yesterday blamed the crisis on Trump, declaring him “increasingly isolated in a racial crisis of his own making.” Apparently, Trump is responsible for the crisis because he blamed both protest groups for the violence.

But isn’t that what happened? Wasn’t there violence on both sides? That was the impression I got from the news reporting. I’m not surprised that Trump got the same impression. Indeed, many readers have sent emails that they received the same impression of mutual violence.

So Trump is being damned for stating the truth.

Let’s assume that the impression Trump and many others got from the news is wrong. That would make Trump guilty of arriving at a mistaken conclusion. Yet, he is accused of instigating and supporting Nazi violence. How is it possible to transform a mistake into evil intent? A mistaken impression gained from news reporting does not constitute a “defense of white nationalist protesters.” An assertion by the New York Times cannot turn the absence of intent into intent. What the Establishment is trying to do is to push Trump into the arms of white supremacists, which is where they want him.

Clearly, there is no basis for this charge. It is a lie, an orchestration that is being used to delegitimize President Trump and those who elected him.

The question is: who is behind this orchestration?

The orchestration is causing people to run away from Trump or is being used as an excuse by them to further the plot to remove him from office.

Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum headed by Stephen A. Schwarzman ran away, just as members of the Carter Center’s board deserted President Jimmy Carter when he criticized Israel for its apartheid policy toward the Palestinians. The New York Times says that the armed services chiefs are running away. And the entire Republican Party.

The hypocrisy is stunning. For 16 years the armed services chiefs, the New York Times and the rest of the presstitute media, both political parties and the liberal/progressive/left have participated actively or passively in massive crimes against humanity. There are millions of dead, maimed, and displaced people. Yet one death in Charlottesville has produced a greater outpouring of protest.

I don’t believe it is sincere. I don’t believe that people who are insensitive to the deaths of millions at the hands of their government can be so upset over the death of one person. Assume that Trump is responsible for the death of the woman. How much blood is it compared to the blood on the hands of Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama? It seems clear enough that the outpouring of grief is an orchestration designed to deligitimize the president and the people who elected him. We are now experiencing at home what the Obama regime inflicted on Ukraine, with the support of course of the liberal/progressive/left just as John Wight said in CounterPunch.

Just as the majority of the Maiden protesters had no idea they were being used, the same is the case for the majority of those protesting the false charge against Trump. For most of the liberal/progressive/left, the hatred of Trump and white nationalists that they are expressing is a reflexive result of the Identity Politics with which they are imbued.

Any objective reading of the situation has to conclude that the hate with which Trump and the “deplorables” who elected him are being covered far exceeds in amount the hate expressed by the white nationalists.

Members of the liberal/progressive/left are proclaiming that despicable people such as white nationalists should not be allowed to protest and should not be given a permit to protest. They forget that protest is a right.
The US Supreme Court settled the issue 40 years ago in 1977 by overturning an Illinois court order that blocked an extremist protest in Skokie, a Jewish suburb of Chicago. The Supreme Court ruled that protest is not limited by the fact that some people will be offended or by the chance that there will be violent reactions. Otherwise, whatever faction happens to be in charge can suppress dissent by everyone else.

For decades the liberal/progressive/left has invested heavily in driving people apart. Black studies, women’s studies, and Native American studies can easily cross into propaganda that generates hatred. As a man of peace said, “a house divided against itself cannot stand.”

Charlottesville has given us a debauchery of denunciation that proves that we are a divided nation. Does a nation so divided really want to be in conflict with Russia and China and Iran? If the US is the institutionalization of White Supremacy as the liberal/progressive/left says, how can it be that Americans are simultaneously the “exceptional, indispensable people” with the right to bomb other peoples into the stone age?

Obviously, there is a lot in this scenario that does not make sense.

My readers on my website are people capable of independent thought. They understand that an explanation of something is not an excuse for it. My explanations are explanations. They might be wrong, but they are not apologies. I find it necessary to say this, because my columns are reposted on many other websites where some of the audience wants to hear only what they already believe and are always looking for someone to denounce. It is a great disability for the United States that only a limited number of its citizens are capable of independent thought. Perhaps this is a problem for every country, but it most certainly is a problem for the United States.

Wasserman Schultz IT Staffer Indicted By Grand Jury On 4 Counts

from Zero Hedge:

The walls may be closing in on Debbie Wasserman Schultz after her former IT aide, the one who was arrested by the FBI at Dulles airport last month while trying to flee the country to Pakistan via Qatar, has officially been indicted by a grand jury on four counts including bank fraud and making false statements.

As Fox News points out, the charges include Awan’s wife Hina Alvi and are tied to allegations that the pair conspired to make false statements on applications for home equity lines of credit and then sent the proceeds of those loans to individuals in Pakistan.

Imran Awan, a former IT aide for Democratic Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, was indicted Thursday on four counts including bank fraud and making false statements.

The grand jury decision in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia comes roughly a month after Awan was arrested at Dulles airport in Virginia trying to board a plane to Pakistan, where his family is from.

The indictment also includes his wife Hina Alvi.

The indictment itself, which merely represents formal charges and is not a finding of guilt, addresses separate allegations that Awan and his wife engaged in a conspiracy to obtain home equity lines of credit from the Congressional Federal Credit Union by giving false information about two properties – and then sending the proceeds to individuals in Pakistan.

So why is the real estate angle important?  As we noted previouslytitle companies, unlike individuals, can wire large sums of money to international bank accounts without arousing the suspicions of federal investigators.

Title companies can wire large sums abroad without attracting the suspicion Imran did at the bank, and with Hina — the nominal sole owner of each of the houses — residing in that country, it would be natural to send the proceeds to her.

In addition to the three houses sold or slated to be sold since June 20, Imran’s lawyer, Chris Gowen, told The New York Times that the $283,000 wire in January was preceded by other similar transfers to Pakistan. “Gowen said the transfer represented the latest payment by his client for a piece of property he was buying in the country,” The Times reported.

Gowen would not tell TheDCNF whether the proceeds of the $360,000 June 20 home sale were wired to Pakistan, nor where the income from the two upcoming sales would go. The office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia declined to comment on whether it would block the disbursements.

The value of the known homes that have been sold since November or are currently being sold is $1.8 million. There is also the $283,000 January wire transfer from the Congressional bank, in addition to previous wires of unknown amounts that Imran’s lawyer acknowledged.

Since Imran’s lawyer said the January wire of nearly $300,000 was the latest in a series of wires, the transfers may have been about moving money from the $4 million in House payments or other sources.

As background, Imran was first employed in 2004 by former Democrat Rep. Robert Wexler (FL) as an “information technology director”, before he began working in Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s office in 2005.

The family was paid extremely well, with Imran Awan being paid nearly $2 million working as an IT support staffer for House Democrats since 2004. Abid Awan and his wife, Hina Alvi, were each paid more than $1 million working for House Democrats. In total, since 2003, the family has collected nearly $5 million.

In total, Imran’s firm was employed by 31 Democrats in Congress, some of whom held extremely sensitive positions on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile, as we noted before, it is still unclear whether the bank fraud charges are just a placeholder for other charges that are yet to come.

While details are scarce, media reports have alleged that Awan and his brothers potentially ran a procurement scheme in which they bought equipment, then overcharged various House members that employed their IT firm.  Meanwhile, some congressional technology aides have alleged that the Awan’s were blackmailing representatives based on the contents of their emails and files, due to the fact that these representatives have displayed unwavering and intense loyalty towards the former aides.

Of course, one of the most intriguing parts of the Awan narrative has continued to be why former DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz decided to keep him on her taxpayer-funded payroll right up until his arrest and whether that decision had anything to do with the whole DNC / Hillary email scandals that erupted last summer.

Perhaps we are finally getting closer to an answer…

Cop Blasts Antifa For Instigating Violence: You Want Another Charlottesville “You Should be Ashamed of Yourself” (VIDEO)

by Cristina Laila, The Gateway Pundit:

The Associated Press posted a video on Tuesday about a Charlottesville policeman who gets fed up with a liberal protester and accuses her of wanting to instigate violence.

“You want another Saturday, don’t you? You should be ashamed of yourself.”

Left-wing protesters were chanting ‘terrorists go home’ at a guy carrying a Confederate flag and saluting with a gun on him. The guy stood there silently as the protesters screamed in his face and held up middle fingers.

“You have a home to go to! There are people who are dead and injured and stuck in the f*cking hospital and yet you are here doing this when you could just stand up!”

The police escorted the guy holding the flag and put him in a police car because the left-wing protesters asked them to.

A woman followed the police officer and recorded him with her cell phone camera claiming that the guy had been ‘terrorizing’ people.

The police officer blasted the woman and said, “you want another day like Saturday, don’t you? You should be ashamed of yourself”

Total number of notices filed so far this month: 915 for 4,575,000 oz

The star today was silver as this metal completely rebuffed all attempts by the crooked bankers who initiated a raid for the 5th consecutive day.  Gold got a spurt when Trump’s entire advisory board was disbanded.  It seems that the entire Trump team is in chaos.

Let us have a look at the data for today

In ounces, the OI is still represented by just UNDER 1 BILLION oz i.e.  0.940 BILLION TO BE EXACT or 135{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of annual global silver production (ex Russia & ex China).

In gold, the open interest FELL by A TINY 2222 WITH THE HUGE FALL in price of gold ($11.00 LOSS YESTERDAY.)  The new OI for the gold complex rests at 477,921. A raid was called upon yesterday by the bankers and it succeeded in driving the price of gold southbound. The bankers initiated the raid with short paper but newbie longs entered the arena with the lower price. The bankers were not as successful in covering their shorts as they would have liked. They again called for another raid today but that too has failed

we had: 32 notice(s) filed upon for 3200 oz of gold.

With respect to our two criminal funds, the GLD and the SLV:

Today, no changes in gold inventory:

Inventory rests tonight: 791.01 tonnes

First, here is an outline of what will be discussed tonight:

Charlottesville 2

by Paul Craig Roberts, Paul Craig Roberts:

What the liberal/progressive/left is trying to do with Charlottesville is to associate Trump supporters with White Supremacists and in this way demonize Trump supporters so that they will not have a voice when Trump is overthrown in a coup. Or it can be put in a different way: Charlottesville is being used by someone to discredit Trump and the people who elected him in order to pave the way for a coup, and the liberal/progressive/left is enabling the plot.

Upon reflection, I think that for most of the liberal/progressive/left the denunciations and one-sided interpretation of Charlottesville are just the ingrained knee-jerk reaction of people brought up in Identity Politics. In Identity Politics, everyone is a White Hat except racist, sexist, homophobic, gun-nut white males. The only tolerable white males are those who accept this characterization of themselves. All others are “white supremacists” or “nazis.”

From what I read on progressive websites, those imbued with Identity Politics are letting the emotionalism of the politics run away with them. My friend, Rob Kall, who is fair and open-minded and posts my columns on OpEdNews, including those to which he takes exception, writes: “Trump is Now the Leader of White Supremacists and Nazis.” Rob reaches this conclusion because Trump held both sides responsible for the violence in Charlottesville. By seeing equivalence between the two sides, Trump “made it clear that he was siding with the White Supremacists, giving them aid, support and encouragement.” (You might remember Jean Kirkpatrick who denounced liberals for seeing moral equivalence between the Soviet Union and the US.) I doubt this is the way Trump saw his statement. From the news videos I saw, there seemed to be plenty of hate on both sides. Certainly, there is plenty of hate for Trump among progressives.

In the Washington Post, Alexandra Petri finds Trump’s words condemning the violence on both aides to be “despicable words.” Petri apparently thinks that, counter to what the news coverage shows, the counter protesters did not engage in any violence, or else she thinks that violence from this side was justified but not violence from the other side. She condemns Trump for his statement: “We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides.” In her opinion, the last three words, “on many sides” shows that Trump is partial to White Supremacists.

Richard Eskow joins the chorus. He links together deaths in Charlottesville, New York, Portland, Charleston, under “white nationalist terror” and hands them to Trump.

The Daily Kos also equates Trump’s blaming both sides for the violence, which is what the media reports show to be the case, with a defense of “white supremacist/neo-Nazi violence.”

Joe Macare at Truthout tells us that “Truthout will continue to report on the threat of neo-Nazis in the street — as well as those in the White House who are in lockstep with their agenda. We’ll talk to the people organizing against fascism on all fronts. We won’t equivocate or condemn ‘both sides.’ We won’t blame the Nazis’ targets for the hate they receive. But we know that these are not the only faces of racism. Whether it manifests itself in education policy, in gentrification, in economic inequality, in racist policing or in the United States’ immigration and ‘defense’ policies, Truthout will continue exposing white supremacy in all its forms.”

Truthout’s Anna Sutton expresses her “Heartbreak, Anger.” She doesn’t know where to begin. But she sees a fundraising opportunity. Make a donation and Truthout will “tell it like it is” against the “corporate and right-wing media” that are “bending over backwards to normalize Trump and the violence and xenophobia displayed by his rabid followers.” One wonders what corporate right-wing media she is talking about, The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, all of which denounce Trump 24/7?

How do we avoid the question: who is over the top, the “alt-right” at Charlottesville or their progressive critics?

Over at CounterPunch, a remnant of America’s left-wing, John Eskow tells us that he has walked among white supremacists “since I first learned to walk. They surrounded me in blue-collar Utica, New York—an early capitol of Rust Belt America, back in the 1950s.”

Here is Identity Politics’ association of the working class with White Supremacy. The all-powerful, all-threatening White Supremacists could do nothing to prevent—who?—from offshoring their jobs to Asia. But these people, who are so powerless that they could not even save their own jobs, are a great threat to us good people, who sat sucking our thumbs in unconcern while their economic lives were snuffed out.

CounterPuncher John Wight, prior to affirming the dogma that from the very beginning America has been “synonymous with white supremacy,” first unleashes both barrels on the liberal/progressives: “Strident declamations against fascism in Charlottesville from those who supported fascists in Kiev, calls for action to be taken against extremists in America by those who’ve been supporting them in Syria. What is this if not rank hypocrisy?”

Ah, so, why did the liberal/progressives align with the military/security complex and the neoconservatives against Donald Trump who declared, to his undoing, his intention to normalize relations with Russia, thus removing the enemy needed to justify the $1 trillion annual budget of the military/security complex? These vast monies could have gone into health care for the unprovided, into public assistance for the unprovided, but the liberal/progressive/left would not have it. If the liberal/progressives are so against violence and hate, why do they support the hate campaign against Trump and Russia?

Has Identity Politics made the liberal/progressive/left deaf, dumb, and blind such that their reality is limited to the emotions that Identity Politics produces?

This is a valid question. It is not meant to be derogatory. It is meant to lead to an understanding of our plight as a country. How does a country in which blacks are taught to hate whites, women are taught to hate men, and whose history is explained as white oppression successfully deal with the defining issues of our time?

Indeed, such a country is incapable of even recognizing the real issues. It seems clear enough that our doom is certain.

Identity Politics has such a firm hold on universities, media, all sorts of subject areas in public schools such as black studies, women studies, race studies, native American studies, and in Democratic Party politics that reality is absent from the picture. Most of what is deplored by Identity Politics are simply products of history, not of the evil intentions of white males. It once was the case that the function of liberal progressivism was to reform what was inherited from the past and had been morally outgrown. But this progressive agenda has been abandoned to hate that is just as wrong and deadly as the hate to which the liberal progressives object. So we are left with what: hate against hate. This is not promising.

Why Was This ‘Crowd Hire’ Company Recruiting $25 An Hour ‘Political Activists’ In Charlotte Last Week?

from ZeroHedge:

Trump ignited a political firestorm yesterday during an impromptu press conference in which he said there was “blame on both sides” for the tragic events that occurred in Charlottesville over the weekend.

Now, the discovery of a craigslist ad posted last Monday, almost a full week before the Charlottesville protests, is raising new questions over whether paid protesters were sourced by a Los Angeles based “public relations firm specializing in innovative events” to serve as agitators in counterprotests.

The ad was posted by a company called “Crowds on Demand” and offered $25 per hour to “actors and photographers” to participate in events in the “Charlotte, NC area.”  While the ad didn’t explicitly define a role to be filled by its crowd of “actors and photographers” it did ask applicants to comment on whether they were “ok with participating in peaceful protests.”  Here is the text from the ad:

Watch Don Lemon Whitewash Antifa In 90 Seconds [VIDEO]

by Peter Hasson, Daily Caller:

CNN anchor Don Lemon whitewashed on Tuesday the violent far-left “anti-fascist” (or “antifa”) agitators behind many of the violent riots around the country.

Lemon was responding to President Trump’s press conference in which he blamed violent actors on “both sides” for the violence in Charlottesville over the weekend. Lemon responded by claiming antifa is a “protest group” simply “protesting hate in America” whose “tactics” maybe “weren’t exactly right.” (RELATED: In Their Own Words: Anti-Trump ‘Resistance’ Leaders Say They Want To Make America ‘Ungovernable’)

(In reality, antifa activists say they want to overthrow democracy and all of American civil society.)

“I’m saddened, Wolf. Sitting here, thinking as we were about to go on the air, ‘what am I going to say to Wolf Blitzer? What am I going to say to my colleagues, to the country and the world who is watching?’ This is a sad moment for the country. I think it was an awful moment for the person who was supposed to represent the highest office of the land. There today you saw the real Donald Trump proving all of his critics right in that moment,” Lemon began. (RELATED: CNN’s Sara Sidner Defends Antifa Violence [VIDEO])

“Everyone was sitting there watching, saying ‘here we go, his true colors are coming out.’ To equate a group that is a protest group, two protests group. Yes, they are both protest groups, calling antifa. They were there protesting fascism. Maybe their tactics weren’t exactly right. It is messy. There is a difference between the two groups,” Lemon continued.

“One is a Nazi, white supremacist group. What they want to do is extinguish people that look like me and you, Wolf, Jewish people, black people, even women. They don’t think we are equal. The other is a protest group, protesting a political and racism movement. I am not saying that that group, all of their tactics are right. They were there protesting hate in America.” (RELATED: In Their Own Words: Anti-Trump ‘Resistance’ Leaders Say They Want To Make America ‘Ungovernable’)

Point Of No Return Has Been Reached – Those Dedicated To The Overthrow Of America By Civil War Are About To Get More Than They Wanted

by Susan Duclos, All News Pipeline:

Despite allowing himself to be pressured into making a follow-up statement regarding the events that occurred in Charlottesville, VA over the weekend, President Trump’s initial statement was spot on and should have been left alone, condemning the violence on “many, many sides,” because the Confederate Monument controversy is simply the latest “justification” on the part of the increasingly violent left, which started well before Donald Trump even announced his plans to run for President.

The link above is to an Atlantic article titled “The Rise Of The Violent Left” which is a good read and explains much of the escalation we have been seeing in Antifa driven riots and violence Americans have been subjected to since President Trump was elected, but a good summary of events, provided by Ben Domenech over at The Federalist, adds much-needed context as examples of leftists protests that have turned violent over the past eight years are documented.

Oakland 2009, Akron 2009, Pittsburgh 2009, Santa Cruz 2010, Oakland 2010, Los Angeles 2010, Oakland 2011, Chicago 2012, Anaheim 2012, Brooklyn 2013, Ferguson 2014, New York City 2014, Baltimore 2015, Anaheim 2016, Chicago 2016, St Paul 2016, Milwaukee 2016, Charlotte 2016, Standing Rock 2016, Oakland 2016, Portland 2016, Washington DC 2017, Berkeley 2017, Anaheim 2017, Berkeley (again) 2017, Berkeley (again again) 2017, Olympia 2017, and Portland 2017. This is a list of overwhelmingly leftist protests.

Adding even more context, we note the multiple “free speech” rallies that stayed largely peaceful until Antifa showed up, with the deliberate intent of causing violence, so that the media could say it was a “violent free speech rally” rather than outside agitatorscrashing a peaceful event.

An example: The April 15, 2017 Patriots Day Free Speech rally hosted by The Liberty Revival Alliance, an event scheduled ahead of time, and Antifa groups started telling its members that it was really a Nazi rally, asking for members to join in to show up and “shut it down.”

Once Antifa showed up, all hell broke loose, exactly as they planned. They weren’t there to “defend their communities” as their signssaid, because the free speech rally participants were not in any way being disruptive or violent, until they were attacked by Antifa.

Now lets look at Charlottesville, VA, where a rally to protest the removal of confederate monuments was scheduled, with organizers obtaining the permits to hold their rally, and once again Antifa type groups decided to “counter-protest,” which is fine, except they deliberately planned, once again, to cause chaos and violence, which resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to dozens of others.

I have reported this but lets make it clear how we can make that assertion: The governor of Virginia himself, warned the day before the rally was to take place that people should “stay away from Charlottesville” because “extremist groups, many of which are located outside of Virginia, who may seek to commit acts of violence against rally participants or law enforcement officials.”

Make no mistake, we are not defending the man that allegedly rammed his car into a crowd of people, killing a woman, and if investigations show he did so deliberately and not a tragic accident in an attempt to escape harm himself, then he should be held fully accountable for his actions, but the media, the violent left and their enablers, want to rewrite history, by ignoring the fact that authorities knew Antifa groups were coming to attack police and rally participants.

The Government’s Retail Sales Report Borders On Fraud

by Dave Kranzler, Investment Research Dynamics:

As a quick aside, I got an email today from a colleague, a self-admitted “very small fish,” who told me he was now getting cold calls from Goldman Sachs brokers offering “very interesting structured products.” I told him the last time I heard stories like that was in the spring of 2008. One of my best friends was getting ready to jump ship from Lehman before it collapsed – he was in the private wealth management group. He told me he heard stories about Merrill Lynch high net worth brokers selling high yielding structured products to clients. He said they were slicing up the structured garbage that Merrill was stuck with – mortgage crap – that institutions and hedge funds wouldn’t take and packaging them into smaller parcels to dump into high net worth accounts. Something to think about there…

As conditions worsen in the real world economy and political system, the propaganda fabricated in an attempt to cover up the truth becomes more absurd.  Today’s retail sales report, prepared and released by the Census Bureau which in and of itself makes the numbers extraordinarily unreliable, showed a .6{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} gain in retail sales in July from June.  As I’ll show below, not including the affects of inflation, in all likelihood retail sales declined in July.

The biggest component of the reported gain was auto sales, for which the Census Bureau attributed a 1.1{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} gain over June.  While this correlates with the SAAR number reported at the beginning of the month, the number does not come close to matching the actual industry-reported sales, which showed a 7{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} decline for the month of July.  Note: the SAAR calculation is fictional – it implies that auto sales, which are declining every month, will continue at the same rate as the rate measured in July.  Per the stark contrast between the Census Bureau number and the industry-reported number, the number reported by the Government is nothing short of fictional.

The automobile sales component represents 20{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of the total retail sales report on a revenue basis.  If we give the Government the benefit of doubt and hold the dollar value of auto sales constant from June to July (remember, the industry is telling us sales declined sharply) and recalculated the retail sales report, we get a 0.03{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} gain in retail sales.

Another huge issue is the number recorded for building material and sales.  In the “not seasonally adjusted” column, the report shows a huge decline from June to July (a $1.3 billion drop from June to July.  But through the magic of seasonal adjustments , the unadjusted number is transformed in a $337 million decline.   Given the declining trend in housing starts and existing home sales, it would make sense that building and supply stores sold less in July vs. June.  But the Government does not want us to see it that way.

Yet another interesting number is in the restaurant sales category, which the Census Bureau tells us increased .3{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} in July from June.   Restaurant sales are also one of the largest components of retail sales, representing 12.1{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of what was reported.   This number was diametrically opposed to the Black Box Intelligence private sector report for monthly restaurant sales, which showed a 2.8{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} drop in restaurant sales in July (a 4.7{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} drop in traffic).   The Census Bureau survey for total retail sales is based on 4,700 questionnaires mailed to retail businesses.  The Black Box restaurant survey is based on data compiled monthly from 41,000 restaurants.   We don’t know how many restaurants are surveyed and actually respond to the Government surveys.

Here’s the Census Bureau’s dirty little secret

The sections highlighted in yellow are marked with an asterisk.  In the footnotes to the report, the Census Bureau discloses that the asterisk means that, “advance estimates are not available for this kind of business” (Retail Sales report).  In other words, a significant percentage of the Government’s retail sales report is based on guesstimates. Lick your index finger and stick it up in the political breeze to see which way you need to make the numbers lean.
