Doug Casey on Anarchy in South America

by Joel Bowman, International Man:

It’s Bread & Circus season here in Mexico. That means World Cup football (soccer) and presidential elections … just the things to distract the general population from all that really matters in this life.

(We refer, of course, to things like peace… freedom… civil liberties… al pastor tacos… et cetera… )

Alas, our amigos have not fared well in either arena of late, political nor sporting. Too bad. Given the horrible job this nation’s public relations team has done in the past few years, we thought the Mexicans deserved a bit of a break. And yet…

What No One Is Telling You About The Recent SCOTUS Ruling On Cell Phone Location Information

by Johanna Faust, Activist Post:

Recently the Supreme Court ruled that to access to the vast amount of information, logged by your cellphone many times per minute on exactly where you have been and for how long, that the cellphone provider keeps for five years, a warrant is required. Fantastic. Obvious, right? Well, no, and more importantly, as a privacy “win,” understanding the new ruling is counterintuitive.

Reports on the ruling barely mention certain things as they rush to soothe an American public justifiably edgy after all the post-Snowden lies. Such as:

  • it does NOT apply to real-time location data – so patterns can be reassembled after new tracking
  • it does NOT apply to data collected by the private sector – so data can be bought or traded
  • it does NOT apply to investigations related to national security – and remember, most invocations of the Patriot Act involved drugs, not terrorism

Trump, the “real US worker deal” and Hooverism, revisited?

by Dan Kurz, CFA, DK Analytics:

The good:  “Red state” Americans, yours truly included, are grateful that President Trump is calling out the fake news for what it is: fake — and out to get any powerbrokers that threaten its pervasive media dominance.  Clearly, a media with a revolving-door to bureaucrats has facilitated unprecedented industry consolidation since President Clinton signed the Telecommunications Act of 1996.  The increasingly incestuous, oligopolistic relationship between big government and big business has resulted in a crony press that rivals the Pravda (“truth”) press in the former USSR.  Thus, instead of news and a check on increasingly abusive government power as the Framers intended, the misnamed “Main Stream Media” (MSM) has been generating propaganda supportive of an increasingly fascist regime, i.e., the US government.

Divide they try. Fail they will! The ABSOLUTELY SAVAGE #NewQ #QAnon #GreatAwakening

from Neon Revolt:

Let’s get right into #QAnon:

This tweet initially upset many anons because it looked like Imran Awan had negotiated some kind of plea deal. Q came in to reassure us that his case will not be handled in the typical fashion.

Facebook Algorithm Flags The Declaration Of Independence As “Hate Speech”

by Mac Slavo, SHTF Plan:

Over the last couple of years major social media, news and video platforms have been actively engaged in the censorship of what they believe to be fake news and information. Often spearheaded by third-party review organizations known to have biased views, there have been countless examples of unpopular speech and commentary that has seen its distribution suppressed or outright banned.

While there is most certainly a human element involved in the review and flagging of information, mega Silicon Valley conglomerates have also implemented automated systems to identify potentially hateful and repulsive content.

Mainstream Media Admits FBI Groomed Terrorist for 4th of July Attack, Gave Him Supplies

by Rachel Blevins, The Free Thought Project:

Cleveland, Ohio – An innocent man is now facing terrorism charges after he was caught plotting a bombing at a Fourth of July celebration and then arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The only problem is that the plot was created by undercover FBI agents, who convinced the man to agree to a role in the plan, and then provided him with supplies.

Demetrius Pitts, 48, is now facing criminal charges after conversations with undercover agents led to his arrest. According to the criminal complaint against Pitts, the FBI claimed that its agents reached out to him because he made comments on Facebook that indicated he may be interested in joining al-Qaeda, traveling overseas for training, and then returning to the U.S. to carry out an attack.

Would the Founding Fathers Recognize Modern America?

by Bill Bonner, The Burning Platform:

The metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly is one of the most remarkable things in nature. The animal apparently digests itself, using enzymes triggered by hormones. Then, from the pupa, a whole new animal develops – one with wings.

Time and growth produce changes in institutions, too. Sometimes, they merely get bigger and older. Sometimes, they go through a metamorphosis and change into something very different.

We recently moved back to France for the summer. We lived here for nearly 20 years… and still have a house in the country, to which we retire every summer.

FOUL! Google and Others Get Red Carded Over FIFA 2018

by Phil Butler, New Eastern Outlook:

The saddest thing under the eyes of God is the sight, sound, and the smell of sore losers hell-bent on poor sportsmanship no matter what. This is the downside of FIFA 2018, and a sparkling World Cup soccer moment in Russia. With nothing but excellence and the spirit of true competition emanating from Moscow and other towns in the world’s biggest country, the same dastardly Russophobes cannot even acknowledge defeat. Reading Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post and other tabloid news headlines today, I cannot help but recall a saying from The Greatest – Muhammad Ali:

“I never thought about losing, but now that it’s happened, the only thing is to do it right.”

Now, with this noble truth in mind let me say this to the George Soros, Jeff Bezos, and bitter little bankers bent on Russia’s destruction – “Give it up, Putin and Russia have beaten your asses at every turn.” The world is coming to know the truth of the matter, you see. What I’m talking about the truth is that right is prevailing, and that excellence is winning out over small-minded pettiness and greed. And FIFA 2018 looks like the final round from a media analyst’s point of view. Read the headlines this morning. There’s no unanimous Russophobia booing. That’s been replaced by genuine objectivity from many of Britain’s and Europe’s media and even a few American outlets.

What’s Changed 241 Years after the First Independence Day?

by Tim Brown, Freedom OutPost:

Instead of living and ruling from London, these new despots reside in Washington, D.C.

Former Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) is a student of history and he is a lover of liberty. Those two topics came together this week as he discussed the July 4th Independence Day holiday on his show the Ron Paul Liberty Report.

While the Founders understood the dangers of forming a new government, they also knew the risks of remaining with a corrupt and tyrannical regime (such as the one that was ruling over us in 1776).

An Idea Whose Time Has Come – Keith Weiner (04/07/2018)

by Keith Weiner, Sprott Money:

On résiste à l’invasion des armées; on ne résiste pas à l’invasion des idées.”

These are the actual words written by Victor Hugo in Histoire d’un Crime (History of a Crime).Translated literally, it means an invasion of armies can be resisted; an invasion of ideas cannot be resisted. However, there are many alternative translations that try to express the sentiment, if not the exact meaning. Perhaps the most famous of them is this.

“Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come.”

This, itself, is a powerful idea (we have seen it misattributed both to Ghandi and Martin Luther King). It is rife with implications. At least for ideas about how a society ought to be organized, for ideas about governance.

Senate Intelligence Committee Prostitutes Itself In Behalf Of Russiagate

by Paul Craig Roberts, Paul Craig Roberts:

Are you stupid enough to believe that American voters elected Trump president because Vladimir Putin influenced them to vote for Russia’s candidate? The US Senate Intelligence (sic) Committee is that stupid. This collection of nitwits actually produced a report that a few ads allegedly placed online on Putin’s instructions, ads that did not cost one-hundredth of one percent of the huge sum spent by the candidates themselves, both national committees and everyone else, were decisive in influencing voters who never saw the ads in the first place or read or responded to tweets.

Researchers: Father of Global Warming’s Theory Devastated by Actual Data

by Michael Bastasch, Conservative Tribune:

The dire climate prediction made by former NASA scientist James Hansen “significantly overstates the warming” observed in the real world since the 1980s, according to an analysis.

Economist Ross McKitrick and climate scientist John Christy found observed warming trends match the low end of what Hansen told Congress during a hearing on global warming organized by then-Congressman Al Gore.
