Experts from numerous countries around the globe are gathering for a United Nations meeting to discuss “killer robots.” The weeklong event that opened Monday is the second at the U.N. offices in Geneva and will focus on lethal autonomous weapons systems.

Futuristic robots that can conduct war without human intervention is a big concern among official in the United Nations, according to a report by ABC News. The experts who have gathered for the meeting will discuss ways to define and “deal with” the problems that could arise from the creation of “killer robots.”

In 1984 the movie Terminator brought to live the dark dystopian fantasy of killer robots designed to ruthlessly hunt down human targets and destroy them. We’ve come a long way since then, and in the last 15 years, drone aircraft have been deployed by the military, although as far as we know, these still require a human being to pull the trigger before bombing whatever target has been selected for elimination.

Meanwhile, Boston Dynamics has been steadily revolutionizing the war-bot, preparing them far deployment against humans at some point, and their products are downright terrifying. Nevertheless, we still have not yet entered the era of autonomous killer robots being unleashed against human beings.

Special Agent Jonathan Moffa testified last Friday behind closed doors and before the House Judiciary Committee and House Oversight Committee. Moffa said that FBI personnel would use media reports based on information they leaked to justify applications for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants.

Moffa, who worked with controversial former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, did not come forward to the media, but according to a report by Fox News, a source familiar with his testimony has spoken about it.
