Will the Trade War Lead to Real War with China?

by Chas W. Freeman, Jr, Consortium News:

Five hundred years ago, Hernán Cortés began the European annihilation of the Mayan, Aztec, and other indigenous civilizations in the Western Hemisphere.  Six months later, in August 1519, Magellan [Fernão de Magalhães] launched his circumnavigation of the globe.  For five centuries thereafter, a series of Western powers — Portugal, Spain, Holland, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and, finally, the United States — overturned preexisting regional orders as they imposed their own on the world.  That era has now come to an end.

Russia and China Are Containing the US to Reshape the World Order

by Federico Pieraccini, Strategic Culture:

Fortunately the world today is very different from that of 2003, Washington’s decrees are less effective in determining the world order. But in spite of this new, more balanced division of power amongst several powers, Washington appears ever more aggressive towards allies and enemies alike, regardless of which US president is in office.

China and Russia are leading this historic transition while being careful to avoid direct war with the United States. To succeed in this endeavor, they use a hybrid strategy involving diplomacy, military support to allies, and economic guarantees to countries under Washington’s attack.

Warsaw and Munich: Whistling Past NATO’s Graveyard

by Tom Luongo, Tom Luongo:

If the Anti-Iran conference in Warsaw was the opening act, the annual Munich Security Conference was the main event. Both produced a lot of speeches, grandstanding and virtue-signaling, as well as a lot of shuffling of feet and looking at the ground.

The message from the U.S., Israel and Saudi Arabia was clear, “We are still committed to the destruction of Syria as a functional state to end the growing influence of Iran.”

Europe, for the most part, doesn’t buy that argument anymore. Germany certainly doesn’t. France is only interested in how they can curry favor with the U.S. to wrest control of the EU from Germany. The U.K. is a hopeless has-been, living on Deep State inertia and money laundered through City of London.

Could Gun Control Lead to the Creation of a 51st State?

by Tom Knighton, Bearing Arms:

When people talk about the 51st state, they’re usually pondering somewhere like Puerto Rico or Guam becoming full states. After all, that’s always been where we were most likely to see a 51st state come from, right?

Maybe not.

You see, there’s a growing push to create a 51st state by carving Washington state into two separate entities, and it’s motivated in part by gun control legislation such as I-1639.

Striding back and forth across the marbled Rotunda with the flag of the proposed state of Liberty behind him, Rep. Matt Shea drew a connection between supporting gun rights and splitting Washington at the crest of the Cascade Mountains.

YouTube is Still Enabling the Sexualization of Children (and It’s Being Monetized)

from Vigilant Citizen:

YouTube contains thousands of videos sexualizing children. The comments on these videos reveal who these videos are actually made for. This is happening as YouTube has been actively censoring “truther” videos.

Something bizarre and incomprehensible is happening on YouTube. On one hand, the video platform has been hard at work demonetizing and un-recommending videos that could “misinform users” (i.e. conspiracy theories). On the other hand, YouTube is never stopped enabling the proliferation of thousands of deeply disturbing videos sexualizing children.

Hillary’s Connections to Russia-Gate & Schumer’s Resolution to Prevent Any Investigation in the Magnitsky Act?

by Martin Armstrong, Armstrong Economics:

One of the gaping questions that have gone unanswered is why has Mueller not taken Putin up on his offer to go question the Russian intelligence officer he has indicted in Russia? Putin said he would allow Mueller and his team to travel to Russia and be present at the questioning of 12 Russian military intelligence officers the special counsel previously indicted for hacking into the computer systems of the Democratic National Committee and the emails of Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman. Putin wanted to question the former American diplomat, Michael McFaul who was appointed by Obama. Interestingly, it was Senator Chuck Schumer who introduced on 07/19/2018 the resolution to deny Putin to question any Americans including Bill Browder. John McCain, the sponsor of the Magnitsky Act, led the charge among Republicans to support Schumer’s resolution to deny any investigation into the Magnitsky affair. The Senate vote was a resounding 98-0 to deny the questioning of ANYAmericans by Russia. This is one of the most curious cover-ups in modern history even after thequestionable report that was released on the Trump Tower Meeting that was all about the Magnitsky Act.

JP MORGAN’S NEW CRYPTOCURRENCY

by Joseph P. Farrell, Giza Death Star:

You may or may not have heard of this, but in case you haven’t, Mr. J.T. sent this article, and it’s worth your attention. As most regular readers here are aware, I’m not a big cryptocurrency fan. In fact, I’m very skeptical of them. They started out being touted as “virtually impregnable”, and so they were, until people learned how to start hacking and stealing. Their biggest selling point, however, was something akin to a battle cry, that they would by-pass the central banks, and a new utopia of central-bank-free transaction would emerge and we’d have debt-free money (i.e., real money) and everything would be Wonderful.

“All Options Are Open”: Trump Threatens To Use The U.S. Military To Invade Venezuela

by Michael Snyder, End Of The American Dream:

We are getting dangerously close to war with Venezuela.  Last month, 35-year-old Juan Guaido declared himself to be the new president of Venezuela, and since that time 50 countries have recognized him as the legitimate leader of the country.  But Russia, China and much of the rest of the world still recognizes Nicolas Maduro, and Maduro is absolutely determined to remain in power.  The Venezuelan military appears to be fully backing Maduro, and that is going to make it extremely difficult to remove him.  On Monday, President Trump ramped up pressure on Maduro by telling the world that “all options are open” when it comes to regime change in Venezuela…

That’s Weird? Latest Photo of Ruth Bader Ginsburg From Last Week Was Actually Taken in November

by Jim Hoft, The Gateway Pundit:

The liberal media cheered last week when 86-year-old Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg returned to the Supreme Court after cancer surgery.

Ginsburg reportedly made an appearance at a concert celebrating herself on February 4th although no photos were released of her at the event.

Ginsburg returned to the Supreme Court on Friday.

How One of America’s Premier Data Monarchs is Funding a Global Information War and Shaping the Media Landscape

by Alexander Rubinstein and Max Blumenthal, Mint Press News:

A select group of national news “stakeholders” gathered at an undisclosed location for what was described as a “semi-secret” workshop somewhere in Canada on January 26. The meeting had been convened to determine how and to whom a “news industry bailout” of $645 million in Canadian government subsidies to private and supposedly independent media outlets would be disbursed. It was a striking event that signaled both the crisis of legitimacy faced by mainstream media and the desperate measures that are being proposed to answer it.

Jesse Brown, a Canadian journalist who participated in the meeting, complained that the first thing he noticed about it “was that one major public ‘stakeholder’ wasn’t represented: the public.” Inside what amounted to a smoke filled room that was off limits to most Canadian citizens, Ben Scott — a former Obama administration official who also served in Hillary Clinton’s State Department — presided over the discussions. Today, as the director of policy and advocacy for the Omidyar Network, Scott works for one of the most quietly influential billionaires in helping to shape the media landscape and define the craft of journalism itself.

Americans Arrested in Haiti Transporting Weapons Cache Amid Uprising

by Alexander Rubinstein, The Anti Media:

Even as U.S. President Donald Trump seeks to inspire a military coup against the elected president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, evidence is mounting that the U.S. government is enabling American mercenaries to violently quell a popular uprising in Haiti.

MintPress News previously examined the parallels between the uprising in Haiti and the Yellow Vest movement in France: both explicitly take aim at the economic oligarchy and government austerity policies; both have been the subject of violent crackdowns by the police; and the governments of both countries have gotten a free pass from Washington and its sympathetic media.
