Tai Chi Helps Breast Cancer Survivors Beat Insomnia, Depression

0

by Mike Barrett, Natural Society:
There are few things worse than lying awake in bed, staring at the clock, knowing your alarm is going to go off in a few hours, and you’re still wide awake. Insomnia can be a never-ending cycle of constantly worrying yourself awake, night after night. A lack of sleep can make anyone feel terrible, emotionally and physically, but it’s especially troublesome for breast cancer survivors. Tai chi, a noncompetitive martial art known for its health and relaxation benefits, may help those warriors get more rest, a study finds.

About 30{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of breast cancer survivors who have insomnia also wrestle with depression, fatigue, and a greater risk of illness. Researchers from UCLA say tai chi promotes significant improvements in sleep health in breast cancer survivors struggling to get enough shut-eye. It’s so effective, the researchers write in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, that it rivals cognitive behavioral therapy – the “gold standard” of treatment – in that the benefits endure longer than a year. A Fruit and Vegetable Diet for 14 days – My Experience and Results.

by Matt, SGT Report:
An interesting looking article popped into my daily feed on YouTube the other day. While scanning the usual subscriptions searching for what the precious metal market was up to and wondering if another dead body was floating down the Hudson connected to Hillary I stumbled across the new Jeff Berwick channel.

I’m sure Jeff Berwick will be familiar to all but both The Anarchast and the Dollar Vigilante channels focus on liberty and the merits or banking outside the system. Lately he’s become an unofficial (again, that’s good) enlightener to us all on the merits of the cryptocurrencies. While maintaining a caution on them myself, certainly after the recent run ups and downs, I nontheless welcome his input.

Overhaul Your Health by Doing a Natural Gallbladder Cleanse

2

by Russel Davis, Natural News:
Gallbladder stones are the crystalline formations that develop in the biliary tract, which vary in size and chemical composition. The condition is characterized by a number of symptoms including severe abdominal pain, heart burn, jaundice, and vomiting. Other symptoms of gallbladder stones include abdominal tenderness, chills, bloating, and extended pain on the right shoulder blade or at the back.

The condition has increasingly become a major health burden worldwide. In fact, a report by the World Gastroenterology Organisation revealed a significant geographical discrepancy in gallstone prevalence worldwide. According to the report, more than 85 percent of patients in developed countries suffer from cholesterol gallstones. The report also found that about 20 million people in the U.S. are diagnosed with gallstones. This equates to about 15 percent of the general population.

America’s Tainted Water Supply: Study Warns Two-Thirds of the U.S. are Drinking Cancer Causing Chromium-6

by Tess Pennington, Ready Nutrition:
The water crisis in Flint, Michigan isn’t the only water supply found sickening its citizens. Recently, more news articles are suggesting that multiple municipal water supplies are being investigated for health compromising chemicals and heavy metals.

TCP, a chemical that causes cancer, has been found in California water supplies and, after further investigation and test data compiled by an activist group show this chemical has been detected by utilities across the country. As well, on the other side of the country, towns in New York and New Jersey are both dealing with chromium-6 being found in their water. Some of you may remember that chromium-6 was the cancer causing metal featured in the movie “Erin Brockovich”. That said, New York and New Jersey are not the only states to have this issue. In fact, the highest levels ever recorded were in Norman (Oklahoma), Honolulu (Hawaii) and Riverside (California).” Source

Phthalates are everywhere. They can be found in plastic food containers, coatings, printing inks, household products, packaged foods, and personal-care products. Phthalates act as binding agents and make plastics softer and more flexible.

New studies on the dangerous impacts of phthalates on our health seem to come out every week. Given their hormone- or endocrine-disrupting effects phthalate exposure has been linked to a host of health conditions making their widespread use a serious public health concern. Pregnant women and children especially are at heightened risk.

Survey: Americans Simply Don’t Know What Constitutes a “Healthy” Food

0

by Julie Fidler, Natural Society:
Do you know which foods are “healthy?” If you said no, or you only have a vague idea, then you have something in common with the majority of people who responded to a recent survey by the International Food Information Council Foundation (IFIC). [1]

Approximately 8 in 10 respondents to the IFIC’s annual Food and Health Survey said they have conflicting information when it comes to foods that are healthy to eat and those that should be avoided. More than half of those surveyed said the lack of clear information makes them second-guess their food choices.

Some foods are obviously unhealthy, such as fast food and junk food. But beyond that, things get a little fuzzy.

How to use Lemons to Lose Weight and Detoxify

from Natural News:
Twelve years ago, I was a retail wine buyer for a liquor store in Healdsburg, California.

As you might imagine, I got to taste A LOT of wine.

I was also invited to countless wine industry parties loaded with gourmet food.

Sounds great, right? Getting paid to drink fine wine and stuff my face with barbequed oysters, shrimp scampi, artichoke dip, French cheese, truffles…

But after a couple of years living like this, I gained about 30 pounds. And I felt like crap – lethargic and tired all the time.

I realized it was time to clean out my system.

by Steve Birr, The Daily Sheeple:
Proposals to loosen federal restrictions on marijuana and open up access to cannabis products for veterans are gaining bipartisan traction despite uncertainty from the Trump administration.

The Senate Appropriations Committee approved a measure July 13 that would let doctors at the Department of Veterans Affairs give patients approval to access medical marijuana in states where it is legal. A proposal from Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz seeks to reschedule marijuana, currently classified as a Schedule I substance alongside heroin, as a substance recognized by the federal government as having therapeutic value, reports the Los Angeles Times.

by Jhoanna Robinson, Natural News:
Cayenne pepper, whose color can range from yellow to reddish-brown, has been used by households all over the world to add flavor and a little bit of heat to dishes for a while now – around a thousand years now. But did you know that eating cayenne on a regular basis can help your body fight cancer-causing elements and make it so that there is a steady and healthy flow of blood in your body?

Cayenne is one of the hottest members of the pepper family, racking up a good 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville heat units (SHU) in the Scoville scale, along with Tabasco. The hottest in the pepper family is the Carolina reaper with 1,400,000 to 2,200,000 SHU, which is closely followed by the Trinidad scorpion with 1,200,000 to 2,000,000 SHU. The mildest of them is the bell pepper, which has no Scoville heat units.

Preventing Alzheimer’s may be as easy as eating these 5 common foods

by Rhonda Johansson, Natural News:
Alzheimer’s disease is an insidious illness; often developing without indication and leaving patients and families alike with a heavy burden. The latest statistics reveal that around five million Americans currently live with the disease. This number is estimated to peak at 16 million by 2050. The Alzheimer’s Association calculates that someone in the United States develops the condition every 66 seconds. Think about that for a minute. The time it took for you to read this entire paragraph was long enough for someone you may know to develop Alzheimer’s.

There is no cure for Alzheimer’s, but there are treatment plans to better manage it. These programs are normally expensive and tedious. A better option, health experts say, is to engage in proactive and preventive plans. This involves eating better. Thankfully, there are five nutrients that can be taken regularly to reduce the risk of developing this debilitating illness.
