Strawberry nutrients found to prevent dementia and age-related cognitive decline

0

by Russel Davis, Natural News:
An animal study published online in the Journals of Gerontology Series A revealed that eating strawberries may well prevent memory decline and subsequent onset of Alzheimer’s disease. To carry out the study, a team of researchers from the Cellular Neurobiology Laboratory at the Salk Institute examined a strain of laboratory mice that were genetically modified to develop premature aging and Alzheimer’s disease. This strain was found to exhibit physical and cognitive decline in as early as 10 months, something that normal mice do not show.

The research team also assessed the effects of fisetin, a compound found in strawberries, on the cognitive status of the animal models. One group of three-month-old prematurely-aging mice were given daily fisetin doses with their food for seven months, while another group received the same food but without the compound. The animals models were then subjected to a variety of activity and memory tests. In addition, the experts studied the levels of specific proteins in the animals. These proteins were associated with inflammation, brain function, and stress response.

Does Sugar During Pregnancy Spark Allergies in Children?

0

by Seth Pollard, Natural Society:

You might have cravings for sweet treats while you’re pregnant, but a recent study shows that pregnant women who overindulge may be more likely to have a child with allergies or asthma. [1]

Researchers from Queen Mary University in London studied nearly 9,000 women who gave birth during the 1990s and their children. Compared to children whose mothers ate the least amount of sugar (less than 7 teaspoons daily), children born to moms who ate the most (16-69 teaspoons a day) were 73{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} more likely to be diagnosed with two or more types of allergies, and 101{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} more likely to have allergic asthma.

The scientists also looked at dust mites, cats, grass, and other allergens known to produce respiratory and skin problems. [2]

Chemical Used to ‘Soften Plastics’ Found in Most Boxed Mac and Cheese

0

from The Anti Media:
Lovers of boxed mac and cheese, prepare to take a hit. According to a recent test conducted in a lab in Belgium, if you’re eating the powdered cheese that comes in the box, you’re probably also eating a group of chemicals called phthalates that are used to soften plastics.

The Coalition for Safer Food Processing and Packaging bought 30 different cheese products from store shelves in the U.S. — 10 different kinds of mac and cheese with cheese powder, five different types of processed sliced cheeses, and 15 varieties of natural cheese — then shipped the package to the Flemish Institute for Technological Research. The institute did not list the brand names of the products they studied.

CANNABIS NEARLY PUT THIS DAD’S ILLNESS INTO REMISSION — THEN THE STATE TOOK HIS KIDS AWAY

0

by Matt Agorist, The Daily Sheeple:
As a father suffering from hepatitis C, Michael Brooks exhausted every pharmaceutical option available to treat the disease and extend his time on Earth with loved ones, before ultimately turning to medical cannabis — a move which, indeed, changed everything.

It saved my life,” Brooks declared to the State of Tennessee of the THC-intensive oil responsible for vastly improved health, in a hearing discussed at a later point in this article.

As definitive as his statement seemed, not everything came up roses for the devoted dad — despite medical cannabis having facilitated the best health of Brooks’ more than four decades alive.

In fact, two years after his impassioned plea to his state of residence, Brooks languishes on the brink of death, gaunt, pale — and without his kids to treasure the precious remaining last moments of his existence — because government.

Chemicals Banned in Kids’ Toys Found in Mac and Cheese

by Julie Fidler, Natural Society:
Boxed macaroni and cheese is often a favorite food among youngsters, but a recent study suggests the packaged food contains dangerous, endocrine-disrupting chemicals that have been banned in toys: phthalates. [1]

Phthalates are a group of toxic additives in plastics. They’re used to make plastics soft and flexible, and are commonly found in artificial fragrances, inks, coatings, adhesives, and other consumer and industrial products, the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) explains.

These chemicals are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in equipment and materials for food handling, processing, and packaging. Because of this, phthalates often wind up in high-fat, highly-processed foods.

Marlee Asks, How Do I Combat Pro-GMO Propaganda?

by SGT, SGT Report:
I received this email today from an informed young lady named Marlee who wants to know how she can combat the corporate propaganda about how GMO foods are awesome, because evidently many of her friends are under-informed and gullible. Here’s what she wrote:

I’m a frequent listener, and just wondering if you could shed some light on this video. I have a lot of friends who aren’t exactly informed on much of anything, only what they see on Facebook, shared by other idiots. This video is great for spreading the info that the war on GMOs is misinformed but I was hoping you could help me out in disproving a lot of the claims this video makes. Just for the sake of conversations with my ignorant friends. Some people need the awakening and aren’t getting it because of videos like this, but I am not confident enough to be able to argue the points made in it, just looking for a little help in that. Thanks for all you do, I’m new to the community and so far only listen on youtube, but I’m slowly moving to your other platforms as well.

Thank you.

All These People Have CURED Serious Diseases Using Nothing But Food Nutrients

1

by Jhoanna Robinson, Natural News:
When people are faced with a serious ailment, their tendency is to go to a hospital and have themselves checked by a general practitioner. They then take the medication prescribed by the doctor and hope everything will be alright. These people, on the other hand, took a different direction when it came to searching for a cure.

Meet 45-year-old Suffolk, England hotel manager Nicole Green, who had been diagnosed in 2008 with multiple sclerosis (MS), a neurological disease that is characterized by vision impairment and a loss of motor control. She reportedly cured herself with a diet of flax seeds and fish. Then there‘s 52-year-old West Wycombe retired civil servant Bill Rogers, who, instead of taking statins to regulate his cholesterol levels, turned to food such as sweet potatoes, chickpeas, and soya.

Study of 700,000 People in 46 Countries Shows How Lazy America Is

0

by Julie Fidler, Natural Society:
Americans have more luxuries and more opportunities to lay back and do nothing than perhaps any other country in the world. Perhaps that’s why on a global scale, the U.S. is one of the laziest countries on Earth, according to a Stanford University study. [1]

The great Ron Swanson once said:

“The whole point of [America] is if you want to eat garbage, balloon up to 600 pounds and die of a heart attack at 43, you can! You are free to do so. To me, that’s beautiful.”

Sunscreen Ingredient Becomes Toxic in Sunlight and Water

by Mike Barrett, Natural Society:
A chemical commonly found in sunscreen breaks down into toxic compounds when exposed to sun and water, research shows.

Avobenzone is an oil-soluble compound that is notable for its ability to absorb ultraviolet (UV) light. It is most often an ingredient in sunscreen and cosmetics, including lip balms and moisturizers. The compound converts UV rays into safer wavelengths that don’t damage the skin, and transforms UV energy into thermal energy. [1]

The chemical was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in commercial cosmetics in 1988. It is a known endocrine-disruptor.

Frugal Prepping: This Survival Food is One of the Highest Sources of Protein

5

by Joshua Krause, Ready Nutrition:
So, by now, Guys and Gals, there are many factions to prepping and they all have their time and place, as well as their use. If a light bulb “comes on” when reading the material, then the mission is accomplished. I have mentioned in many of the articles the importance of taking in protein and its use as both a nutritious energy source, as well as in tissue repair and cellular growth.

With the exception of the recommendation of certain supplements that I use regularly, most of what I recommend falls within everyone’s budget. Isn’t that the objective as a survivalist and prepper? To receive the most return on your investment? Well, this is no different here. I wish to recommend the sardine…yes, you read it correctly!…the sardine, as a part of your diet. Let’s jump right into it.

Environmental Nightmare! Dozens Of Highly Toxic Substances Have Been Found In Tap Water All Over America

0

by Michael Snyder, The Economic Collapse Blog:
After reading this article, you will never look at tap water the same way again. Most Americans have generally assumed that the water coming out of our taps is perfectly safe, but the Flint water crisis and other similar incidents are starting to help people to understand that there are some very dangerous substances in our water. In particular, I am talking about things like arsenic, lead, atrazine, perchlorate and a whole host of pharmaceutical drugs. According to an absolutely stunning NRDC report, close to 77 million Americans received their water from systems “that violated federal protections” in 2015. And even if you get your water from a system that meets federal standards, that still does not mean that it is safe.
