New Study Finds Strong Link Between Glyphosate & Human Liver Disease

by Arjun Walia, Collective Evolution:

  • The Facts:A new study outlines a strong link between Glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, and human liver disease.
  • Reflect On:Glyphosate has contaminated much of our soil and it’s in many of the foods we eat. Decades of research has shown the dangers of this product, so how have our federal health regulatory agencies been able to approve this substance, and others, as safe?

Scientists and health professionals have been raising concerns about pesticides for decades. The idea that these products were ever approved as safe by our federal health regulatory agencies is truly mind blowing, given the fact that their toxicity and danger seem to be unquestionable. In 2012, the Pesticide Action Network North America (PANNA) stated that “Children today are sicker than they were a generation ago. From childhood cancers to autism, birth defects and asthma, a wide range of childhood diseases and disorders are on the rise. Our assessment of the latest science leaves little room for doubt; pesticides are one key driver of this sobering trend.”

Playing God: Crispr’d GMO Food Will Stock Grocery Shelves Within 5 Years

from Technocracy News:

The FDA is lobbied and dominated by Big-Ag Technocrats who insist that GMO food is ‘substantially equivalent’ to its natural counterpart, so the GMO food race is full-speed ahead. This trend will substantially change the entire global food chain.  ⁃ TN Editor

A geneticist at the University of California who helped invent the gene-editing tool Crispr told Business Insider she believes its most profound impacts will be on food.

Several Crispr’d crops have already been made, and although you can’t buy them yet, she said she expects to see them in grocery stores within 5 years.

EWG: In New Round of Tests, Monsanto’s Weedkiller Still Contaminates Foods Marketed to Children

by Erin Elizabeth, Health Nut News:

General Mills and other leading food companies have not stopped selling their top-rated children’s breakfast cereals and other foods even though they are poisoned with disturbingly high levels of glyphosate, the cancer-causing key ingredient in the weedkiller RoundupThe Environmental Working Group (EWG) recently conducted a new round of tests and found the weedkiller, manufactured by Bayer-Monsanto, in all 21 oat-based snacks and cereals that it tested. According to the report, all but four of them contained levels higher than what scientists consider safe for children.

Bloomberg: Roundup’s Risks Could Go Well Beyond Cancer

by Erin Elizabeth, Health Nut News:

Chemicals giant Bay AG is seething after a jury recently awarded $2 billion in damages to a couple after it was ruled the toxic herbicide Roundup (manufactured by Bayer subsidiary Monsanto Co.) led to their cancer diagnoses. Bayer probably won’t pay out the full $2 billion, but with more than 10,000 additional cases pending, this is obviously a concern for Bayer investors, as well as the farmers who faithfully rely on Roundup because they believe it is a safe and cost effective way to control weeds.

Farmer Wins $265 Million Verdict Against Monsanto In Unanimous Ruling

by John Vibes, Activist Post:

Earlier this month, Missouri peach farmer Bill Bader and his family-owned Bader Farms was awarded $265 million in a lawsuit against Monsanto, the controversial biochemical-agriculture company that is now owned by Bayer.

A unanimous jury awarded Bader and his farm $15 million in compensatory damages plus another $250 million in punitive damages.

Bader’s attorney Bill Randles said that the company has created an “ecological disaster” that has damaged the property, careers, and health of Bader and many others around the world.

GENETICALLY ENGINEERED FOOD – THE LIE THAT WON’T DIE

by Dr. Mercola, The Waking Times:

Promises, promises, promises. The toxic world of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and industrial agriculture is built on false promises. For nearly 30 years we have been listening to the propaganda of the big biotech companies like Monsanto/Bayer, Syngenta, DuPont/Pioneer, BASF and others about how genetic engineering will transform farming and food production.

We’ve heard how it will reduce the environmental impact of farming by lowering pesticide use. We’ve been promised that it will increase the nutritional content of food. We’ve been told how it will boost farmers’ profits by increasing yields, and that those increased yields will help “feed the world.”

Flawed Assumptions Behind GMO Golden Rice

by Sayer Ji, Green Med Info:

Despite decades of development, genetically engineered Golden Rice hasn’t yet been approved for commercial sale, but even if it is, the rice may not reach the vitamin-A-deficient children it’s intended for due to flawed assumptions over farmers’ willingness to plant it

Golden Rice, which is genetically engineered (GE) to contain beta-carotene, the precursor to vitamin A, is among the most polarizing genetically modified organisms (GMOs), riddled with failures from the start.
