From “Fake News” to Fake Economics: Nobel Prize Committee Rewards a Faker

by Harley Schlanger, Rogue Money:

Media censorship and outright lying as a means of social control are not new tactics, as there is a long history of oligarchs using control of media and education to keep people ignorant of the events and processes which shape their lives, making it easier to control them.  The British Empire has survived by employing such measures.  The ability to sustain authoritarian control over a subject population is the subject of George Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four,” published in 1949, in which people at mass rallies were led in chants such as “Ignorance is Strength.”  One of the maxims of the fictional government imagined by Orwell was “He who controls the past controls the future.  He who controls the present controls the past.”  This is a slogan which describes well the intent behind the proliferation of Fake News today.

This was the subject of a tract published in 1953 by Bertrand Russell, the evil proponent of the British Empire.  Lord Russell wrote, “Education should aim at destroying free will so that pupils thus schooled will be incapable…of thinking or acting otherwise than as their schoolmasters would have wished….It is for a future scientist…to discover exactly how much it costs per head to make children believe that snow is black” (from “The Impact of Science on Society”).

One arena of “Fake News” is the coverage in the mainstream media of economic and financial “news.”  For the propagandists of “neo-liberalism”, who dominate the media and the economics profession, stock market and other bubbles represent economic growth; credit for infrastructure investment is axiomatically condemned as “wasteful spending”; free trade enforced by a banker’s dictatorship maximizes everyone’s freedom; and austerity is the path to prosperity.  It is from such precincts that the people are being told that President Obama is responsible for a “robust recovery” from the Crash of 2008, while ignoring the buildup of new bubbles, including levels of debt and leverage which far exceed that which triggered the 2008 crash.

Lord Russell would no doubt be quite pleased that the repetition of such nonsense dominates the field of economics today.  For today’s respected economists, snow has indeed become black!

It is therefore not surprising that this year’s Nobel Prize for Economics was given to Richard Thaler, a “behavioral economist” and leading promoter of Sophistical Tomfoolery known as “nudge theory.”  In 2008, Thaler published “Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth and Happiness,” which was co-authored by his colleague at the University of Chicago, Cass Sunstein.  The University of Chicago’s Economics Department was founded as an outpost of British free trade, specifically to organize opposition to the protectionist policies of American System President William McKinley.  In announcing the award, the Nobel Committee said Thaler’s work “has built a bridge between the economic and psychological analyses of individual decision making,” which has provided a “more realistic analysis of how people think and behave when making economic decisions.”

Their work was inspired by that of two Israeli behavioral psychologists, Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky.  Kahneman was awarded the Nobel Economics Prize in 2002.  Tversky and Kahneman argued that human beings are not just occasionally irrational, but systemically irrational!

Thaler and Sunstein define a “nudge” as “any aspect of the choice architecture that alters people’s behavior in a predictable way without forbidding any options or significantly changing their economic incentives.”  It is based on the belief that positive reinforcement and indirect suggestions, in the form of a “prompt”, can alter behavior, to bring people into compliance with policy goals without the use of force.  A “nudge” in the right direction is necessary, they believe, because people are inherently irrational, and allow “gut instincts” to supplant rational choices.  After the announcement of his being awarded the Nobel prize, Thaler identified the vote for Brexit as an example of this problem, describing it as an “irrational” action, that is, against the self-interest of residents of the United Kingdom.

Another example of irrationality given by Thaler is that of people who spend for consumption, rather than saving.  In Thaler’s world, people must be wealthy enough to be able to make a choice, and need only a gentle push to convince them to do so.  In reality, according to a study reported on CNN in January 2017, nearly 60{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of Americans could not cover an unplanned expense of $500.  They do not save NOT due to inherent irrationality, but because they do not earn enough to cover their minimal costs, and must use credit cards to pay for basic expenses, often being forced to choose between buying food, or paying for medical care.

There are now more than seventy-five governments which have established “nudge units” to shift the economic behavior of their citizens.  Among the most prominent is the agency set up by former British Prime Minister Cameron, for which Thaler personally served as an adviser.  U.S. President Obama brought in Sunstein to administer a “Behavioral Insights Team”.  One of his tasks was to overcome the resistance of Americans to the insurance swindle and medical triage program known as “Obamacare”.  Sunstein, who ran the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs from 2009 to 2012, is described by many who know his relationship with Obama as one of the former President’s “controllers,” while his wife, Samantha Power, was a leading proponent of regime change wars when she was Obama’s Ambassador to the United Nations.  It should be noted that such wars, including that which overthrew the Qadaffi government of Libya and that targeting the Assad government, which plunged Syria into a brutal, murderous civil war in which the U.S. was on the side of terrorists, are hardly examples of “nudges” to attain a desired goal.

If the reader is beginning to get the idea that “nudge theory” is more a euphemism for psychological manipulation and social engineering than a scientific concept, then perhaps more forceful nudging is required!

A memo written by EIR economics editor Paul Gallagher on October 10 exposes “nudge theory” as a reaction to the fraudulent theory which preceded it, Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH), or “rational market theory”, which was discredited by the series of bubbles which popped in 1987, from 1998 to 2000, and again with the crash of the housing bubble in 2008.  EMH theory argues that the price of a financial asset fully reflects all available information, and is, therefore, based on an entirely rational evaluation.  This goes back to Austrian school economist, Friedrich von Hayek, who said markets are the the most effective way of aggregating pieces of information, to determine value.  But if EMH were a valid hypothesis, there would never be bubbles!

When Mainstream Media Is Encouraged To Lie … And When It Isn’t

from Ron Paul Liberty Report:

Unintentionally, President Trump has shown everyone what government-“licensed” mainstream media is all about.

Trump attacks their dishonesty. But dishonesty is baked in. It’s pretty much a requirement.

Mainstream media has bamboozled Americans to support a century of devastating wars. It was all dishonest and propped up with lies.

But those lies were OK.

They were “licensed” lies.

Honesty is not a criteria for keeping your government license.

Just the thought of government licenses for networks should send chills down everyone’s spines. It’s Orwellian to the core.

Here’s a good question: Trump doesn’t approve of the “reporting” now. But what’s going to happen when he tries to trump up another war?

As with all wars, the propaganda will have to be built on a mountain of lies. Will Trump threaten the networks as they help him to peddle? Will he threaten to take away their “licenses”?

Of course not.

Did you ever notice that government-licensed mainstream networks are always on the same page when it comes to “news”?

“Trump challenges Tillerson to IQ Test”

“Ivana Trump says she is the ‘First Lady’

The mainstream media are like mental babysitters.

Government schools babysit your mind when you’re a kid, and mainstream media takes over when you become an adult.

Meanwhile, as everyone focuses on the bubble gum topic of the day, the real crimes are happening in the background. Yet, you’d never know it if your source of information is the mainstream media.

Sure, you may get different arguments from different networks. But the scope of the arguments fit on what Tom Woods refers to as a 3×5 index card of allowable opinion.

On lefty networks you’ll get passionate arguments saying “Taxes should be 50{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of your income. Government is the great superhero.”

On the right, you’ll hear “No…no…no…that’s tyranny! Taxes should be 49.5{5f621241b214ad2ec6cd4f506191303eb2f57539ef282de243c880c2b328a528} of your income.”

Left or Right, you’re in government’s hip pocket.

American Pravda, NYT Part III – Senior Homepage Editor Reveals Biased Political Agenda at NYT

from veritasvisuals:

Undercover video obtained by Project Veritas shows New York Times London Senior Staff Editor Desiree Shoe revealing a biased political agenda in the operation of the so-called ‘paper of record.’ Shoe explains a difficulty in reporting about President Donald Trump objectively due to political bias. In one exchange, she says that journalists covered Trump in such a sensational way during the election season so as to deter readers from voting for him. Shoe also shares her negative opinion of Vice President Mike Pence, citing his religious views.

Four Terror Events and Not One Shred of Truth from the MSM- Turn off the Globalist Controlled MSM

by Dave Hodges, The Common Sense Show:

A disturbing trend is occuring across America in recent days. Despite numerous examples of unreported, or under-reported terror events, the events keep on coming.

Consider what the Washington Post wrote about on October 6th:

“Federal authorities revealed Friday they had arrested and charged three men in connection with a 2016 plot to carry out bombings and shootings in crowded areas of New York City, then kept the court case under seal for more than a year as investigators worked.

The alleged scheme was more nefarious than many: The group, which wanted to attack Times Square and the New York City subway system, claimed to have been in touch with an Islamic State affiliate to obtain the official sanction of the terrorist group, prosecutors said.

One of them, a U.S. citizen living in Pakistan, traveled in that country to meet with explosives experts and another purchased bombmaking materials and secured a cabin within driving distance of New York City, the prosecutors said.

By that time, though, the group was unknowingly communicating with an undercover FBI agent, who was posing as an Islamic State supporter, authorities said….”

On October 7th, the media went back to sleep.

The Northwest Wildfires

When one needs a distraction from the failed official narrative in Vegas and at the same time, drive a stake through the heart of the Jefferson statehood movement, a 100 mile wildfire will fit the bill quite clearly. However, as recent history is demonstrating, there will be huge gaps in the reporting and truth will be the first casualty in the reporting of this terror event.

Speaking of casualties, and in this instance, the national media has had great difficulty in reporting the actual casualty counts. Agenda 21 Radio’s, Paul Preston, is reporting that nearly 300 have people have died and approximately another 300 are still missing. It would appearthat CNN and ABC need to take off both shoes in order to maintain an accurate accounting of the dead and missingas the mainstream media is reporting a death toll of 40 with no mention of the missing.

And as long as we are looking for terror events to not tell the truth in any way, shape or form, we have to look no further than the October 1st, false-flag event in which the official narrative has been blown out of the water. Yet, the authorities are still clinging to the (3rd) official version of this fictional narrative. Meanwhile, the outspoken witnesses are ending up dead and missing.

Now there is a new terror event in which the truth is the first casualty.

The Unreported Terrorist Event at a Civil War Re-Enactment

According to some who are responding to my realtime report on Youtube, in which I asserted that there was an attempted mass bombing attempt by Antifa directed at Confederate role players,  thatthis even never took place because they did not see it on CNN or ABC or NBC. I guess that if it does not appear there, it must not have happened. To all the very rude and obnoxious people who accused me of lying, Youtube saw fit to ban the accompanying video that I made immediately after State Department employee, Monika Wesolowski reported to me.

Civil War Re-enactments are fun. They are instructive as we can see strategy and the weapons of that era be unveiled. State Department employee, Monika Wesolowski, chose to attend with a friend and her boyfriend, who was playing a role on the Confederate side. The battle being re-enacted was the Cedar Creek Battle.

Interestingly, the sponsors of the event had received a threat from ANTIFA. The actors playing roles on the Confederate side wouldblown up. This lead the event organizers to sign an indemnification agreement in which they and their estate would hold the organizers blameless should they be killed or wounded.

Here are some photos from the event.

When It Comes to Censorship, YouTube Is An UnEqual Applier Of Its TOS

by Tim Brown, Freedom Outpost:

Many conservatives, as well as liberal sites and videos have been censored by social media giants like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, including this one.

They randomly apply their terms of service, but not fairly.  In fact, it almost seems that in some cases, they are directly targeting the content provider rather than the content itself.

Take a look at this short video from h3h3 Productions to see just how YouTube does not apply it’s TOS to everyone.

WARNING: There is some language that will be offensive to some, but the point made is right on.

The guy in the video points out the one YouTuber posted a video in which the money brought in from the video about the Las Vegas shooting would go to charity.  How did YouTube respond?

“It’s not suitable for advertisers.”

“We ♥ what you’re doing to help, but no matter the intent, our policy is to not run ads on videos about tragedies,” tweeted YouTube.

Yet, aren’t those same advertisers supporting 24/7 coverage of that same shooting on cable and over the air channels covering the news?  Why yes, yes they are.

Still, h3h3 pointed to Jimmy Kimmel, who also produced a video on the Las Vegas shooting and monetized it.

So, they were called out on it.  H3h3 asks, if it’s not the policy of YouTube to run ads on videos about tragedies, then how do they explain monetizing Kimmel’s video, which h3h3 agrees with?

This is the video he pointed to.

This video had ads from GMC and the new Blade Runner movie.

Of course, while sometimes I do find Jimmy Kimmel hilarious, he’s just plain wrong in his commentary.  Of course, he’ll never have me on his show to demonstrate how wrong he actually is though.

H3h3 also points out how YouTube manipulates the trending.

Not only do they violate their own policies, but they pick and choose winners and losers.

It’s called “selective enforcement.”

O’Keefe Strikes Again, Catches NYT Editors On Hidden Camera: “Targeting Trump’s Businesses, His Dumb F**k Of A Son”

from ZeroHedge:

Update:  The New York Times has just responded to the latest Project Veritas bombshell by dismissing the target of the undercover video, Nick Dudich, as a “recent hire” in a “junior position” who “misrepresented his role.”  The NYT confirmed that it looked as though he had “violated our ethical standards” and said they’re “reviewing the situation.”

Here is the full statement from NYT spokeswoman, Danielle Rhoades Ha:

Based on what we’ve seen in the Project Veritas video, it appears that a recent hire in a junior position violated our ethical standards and misrepresented his role. In his role at The Times, he was responsible for posting already published video on other platforms and was never involved in the creation or editing of Times videos. We are reviewing the situation now.

All of which sounds like Dudich is about to find himself without a job…maybe it’s time to do another tour of duty with Antifa?

* * *

In the latest of a series of undercover operations targeting mainstream media bias, James O’Keefe has just dropped a new undercover videowhich takes direct aim at the New York Times’ Audience Strategy Editor, Nick Dudich, who admits repeatedly to promoting content that intentionally seeks to, among other things, damage President Trump’s businesses as a means towards forcing his resignation.

Here is a brief intro from Project Veritas:

While talking about being objective at the Times, Dudich replies candidly, “No I’m not, that’s why I’m here.”

Dudich considers himself an important player at the New York Times, telling the Project Veritas Journalist “my voice is on… my imprint is on every video we do.”

Dudich goes on to explain what he might do to target President Trump:

“I’d target his businesses, his dumb fuck of a son, Donald Jr., and Eric…

“Target that. Get people to boycott going to his hotels. Boycott… So a lot of the Trump brands, if you can ruin the Trump brand and you put pressure on his business and you start investigating his business and you start shutting it down, or they’re hacking or other things. He cares about his business more than he cares about being President. He would resign. Or he’d lash out and do something incredibly illegal, which he would have to.”

When the undercover journalist asks Dudich if he could make sure that the anti-Trump stories make it to the front, he replied, “Oh, we always do.”

To our complete ‘shock’, O’Keefe also learned the Dudich worked for Hillary’s 2016 presidential campaign and Obama’s campaign in both 2008 and 2012…

In 2016, he was recruited to work for the Clinton campaign:

“So I have that background, so when Clinton in 2016… they needed a volunteer strategist to do video… well, they needed someone to help them do video, and how to make it heartfelt, for Clinton.”

He even had to quit his job in journalism in order to work for the Clinton campaign: “I had to leave my job at Fusion ABC to then take a job at Upworthy where I wasn’t deemed a journalist anymore to be able to work for the Clinton campaign.”

Dudich explains how his activism motivated him to re-engage in the news business: “Like, after the Clinton campaign, I’m like, no I need to get back into news and keep doing shit because, like, this isn’t going to change.”

WATCH: NBC News Caught Selectively Editing Evidence Of Multiple Shooters Video

by Jack Burns, The Free Thought Project:

NBC News is being accused of editing video footage from the Las Vegas shooting, and removing evidence that there were multiple shooters involved.

NBC News is the latest mainstream media network to come under fire amid accusations of selective editing. This time, it involves a video from a witness during the Las Vegas shooting that raises questions about the presence of multiple shooters.

The video footage was taken by Vegas taxi cab driver Cori Langdon, and the discovery was first observed by Vincent James, a Youtuber on the channel The Red Elephants:

In his comparison and contrast of the two videos, James noted that NBC’s video was edited in an apparent attempt to give viewers a different impression from what they would have gotten had they been allowed to watch the original in context.

James said, “They edited her (Langdon) voice and hyper-cut clips to make it sound like the cab driver said, ‘people are running!’” In actuality, Langdon never said such a thing and appeared to be amazed that NO ONE WAS RUNNING.

Here is a link to the tweet NBC News published, which proves James’ point.

Here is what Langdon witnessed and recorded, as Matt Agorist of TFTP reported earlier this week:

Cori Langdon, taxi driver, and resident of Las Vegas was in the taxi lane at Mandalay Bay when the shooting began…she quickly realized (shooting was occuring) and began filming (evidence of multiple shooters)

In the video, shots begin to ring out. At first, the shots are far away and then, all of the sudden, they are right on top of her. This happens several times during the first two minutes of the video…[She can even be heard] saying, “It is now coming from further away.”

Using multiple firing positions is a military tactic designed to throw off the enemy. A single firing position is relatively easy to pinpoint, so the use multiple points of fire is employed to ‘blur’ the locator’s image.

As she continues to film, the rounds continue to be heard for several minutes. As she leaves the front drive of Mandalay Bay, Langdon says, “It seems like it’s coming from up there.”

In his video, James concluded, “Nevertheless, something is very fishy and nothing adds up.” He pointed to the fact that Vegas is saturated with high definition video cameras and footage has still not been made available showing Stephen Paddock, the suspect in the deadly shooting, bringing in his dozens of guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
