Over the past week the Supreme Court has handed down rulings on a number of high profile and controversial cases, where they sided with a Christian baker that would not provide a custom wedding cake to a same-sex couple due to his religious beliefs (though he did not refuse to serve them in his store), sided with an anti-abortion crisis pregnancy center over California going too far to regulate them, upheld President Trump’s travel ban while asserting he held the authority in securing the nation, among other rulings to which liberal websites claimed “conservatives win.”

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 split, that state government workers could not be forced to pay fees to Unions.

“This procedure violates the First Amendment and cannot continue,” Associate Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the majority opinion. “Neither an agency fee nor any other payment to the union may be deducted from a non-member’s wages, nor may any other attempt be made to collect such a payment, unless the employee affirmatively consents to pay.”
