Demasking the Torture of Julian Assange

by Ron Paul, Ron Paul Institute:

I know, you may think I am deluded. How could life in an Embassy with a cat and a skateboard ever amount to torture? That’s exactly what I thought, too, when Assange first appealed to my office for protection. Like most of the public, I had been subconsciously poisoned by the relentless smear campaign, which had been disseminated over the years. So it took a second knock on my door to get my reluctant attention. But once I looked into the facts of this case, what I found filled me with repulsion and disbelief.

by Mac Slavo, SHTF Plan:

The United States’ agricultural secretary said that American farmers are the casualties in the trade war with China. “You can’t pay the bills with patriotism,” Sonny Perdue said of the struggles facing farmers stuck in the crossfire of tariffs.

Farmers are struggling with flooding and concerning weather conditions this year which are magnifying their financial problems. American farmers have also been grappling with bankruptcies and suicides and now all of that is compounded with the introduction of the economically disastrous trade war.

Los Angeles, CA — Earlier this month, in only a 24-hour span, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the LAPD were involved in five officer involved shootings. Of those five shootings, four of the people shot by police were killed. One of those killings was captured on video. The victim’s name was Ryan Twyman, who was a 24-year-old father of three.

Venezuelan Government Claims New Coup Plot Foiled

by Mac Slavo, SHTF Plan:

The Venezuelan government has reportedly dismantled a plan to stage a violent putsch in recent days.

Communications Minister Jorge Rodriguez revealed on Wednesday that a large scale plan was set to be executed on June 23 or 24. The operation allegedly included the assassination of President Nicolas Maduro, National Constituent Assembly President Diosdado Cabello, and other high-ranking officials.

Maduro condemned the latest plot, accusing the opposition of looking to seize power through a “bloodbath.”

Marin Katusa: This Gold Bull Market Is For Real

by John Rubino, Dollar Collapse:

In his latest report, commodities analyst Marin Katusa lays out the case for a sea change in gold’s relationship to the overall market. Here’s hoping he’s right:

Gold Just Had Its Biggest One Day Influx EVER

On Friday June 21st, the largest gold focused Exchange Traded Fund (GLD) saw over $1.5 billion flood into the ETF.

The inflow that day was over 10% higher than the 2nd largest ever inflow. That happened on July 11, 2008.

The ridiculous return of the Zimbabwe dollar

by Simon Black, Sovereign Man:

Here’s our Friday roll up of the most absurd and concerning articles we came across this week.

Jail time for offensive image in Great Britain

Recently some idiot teenager in Britain edited an image of Prince Harry into something that was stupid and racist.

This moron clearly intended to be offensive. His photo depicts the prince (who married Meghan Markle) with a gun to his head and the caption, “see ya later race traitor.”

Say Anything!

by James Howard Kunstler, Kunstler:

My favorite moment in the Wednesday night “B” Team installment of the Democratic primary debates was Julian Castro’s “defense” of transgender abortion rights. Say what…? I almost dropped my bag of Dinamita Mojo Criollo Doritos. Did that really come out of Little Julian’s mouth? Apparently so. But how does it actually work?

Like, say, in theory, someone “transitioning” from female-to-male gets inadvertently knocked-up after a (perhaps mistaken) romantic encounter with an actual man and has to, you know, get rid of the little problem zhe has acquired? Could be… but is this a relatively common occurrence down San Antone way? And how might it apply in male-to-female trans cases of merely hysterical pregnancy? Sounds like something that the auteur Guillermo Del Toro might have fun with. Such are the thorny issues of “reproductive justice” that dot the arid terrain of Progressive Thought — like unto the poisonous fruit of the sacred datura bush in the Sonoran Desert.

by Lior Gantz, Activist Post:

This week we’re seeing a clear paradigm shift with regards to institutional sentiment towards gold. In fact, on June 21st, the gold ETF was injected with $1.5B, which is its largest ever one-day inflow.

I’m not only interested in making a profit, which is generated by the uptrend in the underlying commodity. Gold’s price is always the precursor to much bigger swings in the mining stocksthemselves.

Right now, the S&P 500’s allocated portion into the gold sector is 55% LOWER than its historical average. The upside potential is massive and if this price movement is sustainable and gold holds the line over $1,400, there will be an inflow into miners as well, not just the commodity itself.

There’s That Feeling From The 2016 Election Again, This Time It Will Be Good For Gold & Silver

from Silver Doctors:

SD Friday Wrap: Does anybody else get this feeling? If so, here’s why it means gold & silver prices will soon start surging higher…

Does anybody else get the feeling that the 2020 Democratic Nomination Race has the feel of the 2016 Republican Nomination Race?

How so?

Well, everybody poked fun at Candidate Trump.

And then it got serious.

Following in Rome’s Footsteps: Moral Decay, Rising Inequality

by Charles Hugh Smith, Of Two Minds:

Here is the moral decay of America’s ruling elites boiled down to a single word.

There are many reasons why Imperial Rome declined, but two primary causes that get relatively little attention are moral decay and soaring wealth inequality. The two are of course intimately connected: once the morals of the ruling Elites degrade, what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine, too.

I’ve previously covered two other key characteristics of an empire in terminal decline: complacency and intellectual sclerosis, what I have termed a failure of imagination.
