More fake hurricane-weather news

from Fellowship Of The Minds:

This morning, FOTM‘s DCG posted a video showing how the Weather Channel broadcasts fake news about Hurricane Florence by exaggerating how strong the wind is.

A reporter pretended to be unsteady on his feet, buffeted by the supposed strong wind. Alas, the video camera showed that right behind the reporter were two people casually strolling by.

It’s the Anniversary of the Book that Changed the World — 3 Ways 1984 has Become Reality

by Claire Bernish, The Free Thought Project:

Assessing current conditions in the United States, it would be next to impossible not to grasp innumerable parallels to George Orwell’s dystopic portent, 1984. Though other fictional dystopias could similarly elicit comparisons to the dark turn taken by American empire, aspects of 1984’s creepy authoritarian nightmare ring all-too-true.

And Big Brother-like surveillance — though undoubtedly relevant — imparts only the most obvious, and therefore least pertinent, connection on the list.

by Allum Bokhari, Breitbart:

Google has locked down access to archived recordings of its weekly all-hands “TGIF” meetings after Breitbart News published a video of the company’s dismayed reaction to the defeat of Hillary Clinton.

The tech giant holds weekly all-hands meetings known as “TGIF” or “Thank God It’s Friday” (although they’re actually held on Thursdays), in which company executives address questions from employees.

These meetings are typically livestreamed to Google offices around the world, where employees have the opportunity to submit questions to executives via the company’s internal messaging system.

On the censorship of Michael Hoffman’s books by Amazon

from The Saker:

A couple of months ago I did an interview with one of the foremost scholars of rabbinical Judaism, Michael Hoffman. The occasion was the release of his latest book “The Occult Renaissance Church of Rome”. At the time I did not expect to have to ask for a follow-up interview with him, but when I learned that Amazon had censored his books (please see Hoffman’s own account of this here). Specifically, the ban is on three of his books. A complete ban (Kindle + printed book) on Judaism’s Strange Gods: Revised and Expanded, as well as The Great Holocaust Trial: Revised and Expanded, while his textbook, Judaism Discovered, has been removed from the Kindle. I felt that I had to talk to him again and he kindly agreed to reply to my questions. I submit to you the full text of our Q&A which I will follow-up with a short commentary.

Facebook Will Begin Fact Checking Videos And Pictures

by Aaron Kesel, Activist Post:

Facebook will begin fact-checking photographs and videos posted on its platform that are misleading or controversial, WSJ reported.

The company stated Thursday it will begin using technology and human reviewers to stop the spread of “misinformation in these new visual formats.” Previously, the company’s efforts have been focused on rooting out false articles and links.

“The same false claim can appear as an article headline, as text over a photo or as audio in the background of a video,” Facebook product manager Tessa Lyons said in the statement. “In order to fight misinformation, we have to be able to fact-check it across all of these different content types.”

Yale Prof: Free Speech Needs To Go Because Of Fascism And Putin

by Chris Menahan, Information Liberation:

The Boston Review shared a short excerpt from the new book “How Fascism Works” by Yale professor Jason Stanley last week which argued that free speech needs to be scrapped because of “fascists” and “RT.”

From Boston Review:

What are the limits of freedom of speech? It is a pressing question at a moment when conspiracy theories help to fuel fascist politics around the world. Shouldn’t liberal democracy promote a full airing of all possibilities, even false and bizarre ones, because the truth will eventually prevail?

Report: Senior Google Scientist Quits over Censored Chinese Search Engine

by Charlie Nash, Breitbart:

Jack Poulson, a senior research scientist at Google, has quit the company in protest over the tech titan’s development of a censored search engine for China, claiming it represents a “forfeiture of our values.”

According to the Intercept, Poulson “raised concerns with his managers at Google after the Intercept revealed that the Internet giant was secretly developing a Chinese search app for Android devices.”

#WALKAWAY LEADER’S FACEBOOK BAN LIFTED, ONLY TO BECOME TARGET FOR LEFTIST HIT PIECE

from InfoWars:

Ban removed after appearing on Alex Jones’ show on Thursday

Facebook quietly lifted the ban on #WalkAway founder Brandon Straka shortly after his appearance on Thursday’s Alex Jones Show.

But instead of notifying Stroka first, the social media giant reportedly informed a reporter on the ban removal; the reporter then contacted Straka to push the narrative that he and conservatives like him were lying about social media bans.

Politicians Warn Spy Chief: There Is New Threat Called ‘Deep Fakes’

by Mac Slavo, SHTF Plan:

United States politicians are coming up with some wonderful descriptive terms to help use fear to get more restrictive laws passed.  Now lawmakers are warning the spy chief of a real threat called the “deep fakes.”

Thanks to modern technology, the U.S. government ruling class now has another scary fear-mongering problem they are dubbing “deep fakes.” Technology has reached a point where people can now create near-perfect faked videos of people saying things they never actually said, reported Tech Crunch. “Deep fakes” use existing footage mixed with artificial intelligence and machine learning to be made to look like, or at least come close to, the real thing.

WATCH: Innocent College Student Blows Up On Cops As They Kick in His Door Assault Him with AR-15s

by Jack Burns, The Free Thought Project:

An innocent Topeka college student was the victim of a violent no-knock SWAT raid which cops conducted without a warrant due to “exigent” circumstances.

Topeka, KS — The Topeka police department conducted a warrantless no-knock raid of a man’s apartment after someone reported seeing a Hispanic male with an AK-47. An entirely innocent man was shoved to the ground, held at gunpoint in his own home, and nearly killed because cops thought he may have “fit the description.” Naturally, this near-death experience at the hands of public servants infuriated the innocent man who held no punches when he voiced his complaint.
