The Big Lie Of “Gun Violence”

by Arthur Sido, Dissident Thoughts:

If you regularly read any stories about mass shootings or the various murders that happen by the thousands each year you will have noticed that the phrase of the day is “gun violence”**. The way it is written you would think that gun violence is a sentient, malevolent force that goes around in urban areas causing guns to spontaneously open fire on unsuspecting and of course invariably innocent people. Gun violence is like lightning or tsunamis, a force of nature.

Given how many “news” stories I read that deal with shootings, I see phrases like “rising gun violence” or “the scourge of gun violence” it seems dozens of times each day. Politicians and “community activist” types are endlessly rending their garments and moaning about how we need to Do Something™ about gun violence.

Mundane DOJ Memo On Post Office Gun Bans Is Actually Bigger Deal Than You Think

0

by Harold Hutchison, All News Pipeline:

The Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) informed Attorney General Todd Blanche Wednesday that under current law, firearms were not banned in post offices under a broad exception covering many who carry concealed.

Federal district courts have issued conflicting rulings, with the Trump administration previously electing to drop an appeal of a district court ruling that found the ban unconstitutional after the Supreme Court’s Wolford decision. In the memo, the OLC advised Blanche that the provisions of 18 USC 930, one of the more commonly used statutes to justify a ban on carrying guns in United States Postal Service (USPS) buildings, contained an exemption that applied to those who lawfully carry firearms for lawful purposes including self-defense self-defense, removing the threat of criminal prosecution for having a gun inside a post office or on USPS property.

Flock surveillance cameras and Second Amendment rights clash at gun shops across America

by Leo Hohmann, Leo’s Newsletter:

‘We own our privacy’, says one gun store owner who took down his Flock cameras.

It’s widely known, certainly among my readers, that Atlanta-based Flock Group Inc. is violating the Fourth Amendment rights of Americans on a mass scale, and any local politicians or sheriffs who don’t realize that clearly don’t have even a basic understanding of what those rights consist of.

The Fourth Amendment protects the right of all Americans to be secure from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government. It also requires warrants to be based on probable cause and to describe the place and things to be searched or seized.
