Border Patrol Declares Innocent Man’s 5 Bullets ‘Munitions of War’ and Steals His Truck

by Matt Agorist, The Free Thought Project:

For decades now, federal government and their cohorts in law enforcement have been carrying out theft of the citizenry on a massive scale using Civil Asset Forfeiture (CAF). The 1980’s-era laws were designed to drain resources from powerful criminal organizations, but CAF has become a tool for law enforcement agencies across the U.S. to steal money and property from countless innocent people. As the case below illustrates, many of those in law enforcement will use CAF as a punitive measure against innocent people for merely asserting their rights.

Private Security Isn’t Enough: Why America Needs Militias

by Jason Morgan, Mises Institute:

In late May we learned that, after a five-month deployment to one of the most dangerous cities in the world, the American military would finally be going home.

Well, not really. They already were home. The dangerous warzone was the American federal capital, Washington, DC. And the “danger” that the military was supposed to be countering was entirely government made. The military—the National Guard—was on a mission to “secure the capital” after a few hundred rowdies had a Jacksonian moment on Capitol Hill. People who obviously had no plan beyond their afternoon tear through the halls of Congress were somehow presented as an existential threat to the American government, and so the statists in Washington ordered the National Guard to remain deployed. Apparently, the guy who stole a piece of stationery from Nancy Pelosi’s office in January was so terrifying that it took thousands of troops to make sure he didn’t come back and do it again.

January Had Record-Breaking Sales for Firearms

by Jose Nino, Big League Politics:

Good luck trying to pass gun control.

Don’t expect Americans to stop buying guns anytime soon. According to Dean Weingarten of AmmoLand, a record number of National Instant Background Check System (NICS) were conducted in January. This represents the highest number of checks conducted in one month since the system was set up in 1998. The second highest month was December 2020, which had 3,937,068 checks.

Brace Yourselves, the Liberal Media Is About to Flip Over This Tweak to Texas’ Gun Laws

0

by Matt Vespa, Townhall:

Texas is a Second Amendment bastion. And they’re poised to become the one of the newest members of the constitutional carry club. Local politics prevented this push in times past. Now, a bill allowing for permitless carry has passed a state senate committee. Gov. Greg Abbott has been clear: If the bill comes to my desk, I’ll sign it. It now goes to the Texas Senate floor for a full vote, where some reports say passage is not a slam-dunk. The senate is split 18-13, with Republicans controlling the chamber. That’s not a lot of wiggle room for antics. Still, should this pass, Texas will become the largest state in the country with constitutional carry (via ABC News):

So Now The Left Likes Guns, Perhaps They Always Have?

by Tim Kirby, Strategic Culture:

If you give people the freedom to have rope, on occasion someone will hang themselves with it, that is just the way the world works.

After a few years of racial violence, protesting that many consider rioting and parts of American cities being set ablaze in the runup to the big 2020 election, the Left may be rethinking its attitude towards guns… well at least for the moment while they need them. An interesting look at the rise of “Socialist” gun ownership in America by RT poses the interesting question – if the “pro-gun lobby is the (exclusive) domain of right-wing, conservative Republicans in America”? The answer to this lies not so much in the guns themselves (as almost all issues involving firearms) but the overall world view of those who hold them dearly or fear even the thought of them.

Second Amendment in the Firing Line

by Ron Paul, Ron Paul Institute:

Gun control was already a Biden Administration priority before the recent shootings in Georgia, Colorado, and Virginia. In fact, the House of Representatives passed two gun-control bills weeks before the shootings.

One of the House-passed bills expands background checks to include private sales, including those made at gun shows. Under this bill, someone who is not a licensed federal firearms dealer cannot sell a firearm without first relinquishing it to a federally-licensed dealer. The dealer must then conduct a background check on the prospective purchaser.

March Was Another Record-Setting Month for Gun Sales

by Jose Nino, Big League Politics:

Those who think Americans will stop buying guns will be in for a rude awakening.

The number of firearm background checks conducted in the US, which serves as a rough proxy for the number of guns sold nationwide, hit record levels in March. Daniel Payne of Just The News highlighted that four million background checks were conducted “for the second time in history” and blew “past the earlier one-month record set in January.”

In March, the FBI conducted 4.7 million background checks for firearms, which was 400,000 more than January’s record-setting numbers.

California 2A Ruling: Oops

by Karl Denninger, Market Ticker:

Well well look what we have here...

“Like the Swiss Army Knife, the popular AR-15 rifle is a perfect combination of home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment,” Benitez said in the ruling. “Firearms deemed as ‘assault weapons’ are fairly ordinary, popular, modern rifles.”

In his ruling, the judge also criticized the news media, writing, “One is to be forgiven if one is persuaded by news media and others that the nation is awash with murderous AR-15 assault rifles. The facts, however, do not support this hyperbole, and facts matter.”

Both statements are true.

As Feds Frantically Push Gun Control, 9th Circuit Overturns Ban on 3D-Printed Guns

by Matt Agorist, The Free Thought Project:

For generations, advocates of private gun ownership have been fighting exhaustively through political channels to protect their right to keep and bear arms. Gun owners even have one of the strongest lobby groups in Washington, the highly disappointing NRA. Yet over the years, gun rights continue to diminish in America, despite the constant political campaigns by the NRA and politicians who claim to support gun rights.

On Tuesday, a small victory was had in the Ninth Circuit as the court overturned Trump’s ban on 3D-printed gun blueprints. The appeals court’s ruling effectively lifts the Trump-era restrictions on exporting specs for 3D-printed guns.
