Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. headlined this week’s MAHA Summit in Washington, where officials, physicians, entrepreneurs, insurers, and health-tech executives discussed chronic disease, healthcare costs, nutrition, early detection, psychedelics, artificial intelligence, and the growing use of health data.
Kennedy used the event to push two ideas in particular: giving AI a much larger role in personal healthcare and linking vast stores of Americans’ health data so researchers and machines can search them for answers.
Apparently, after decades of advocacy and litigation involving chronic disease, environmental exposures, vaccine injuries, and corporate capture, the causes of America’s poor health remain stubbornly unclear and now require “AI superintelligence” to unravel.

“Better Informed” Than Your Doctor
Kennedy made his ambitions clear during a “fireside chat” with Vice President JD Vance at the MAHA Summit on Tuesday.
He began by invoking a recent conversation with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
According to Kennedy, Altman told him:
Two years ago, I wouldn’t have advised anybody to take medical advice alone from AI. But today, it would be malpractice for a doctor to make a diagnosis or to make a prescription without at least checking AI.
Kennedy went further.
He said HHS wants every American to have digital access to personal medical records from a phone.
A patient, he noted, could have a 1,000-page medical history. A doctor may have only minutes to examine it.
AI would not face that limitation.
“The AI can … distill it,” Kennedy said, adding:
It can give you a second opinion that is much better informed than any doctor in the country.
That statement quickly drew opposition from major medical organizations.
AI vs. Medical Tyranny
Kennedy sees another attraction in AI.
He believes it can break the authority of the medical establishment:
One of the things that is gonna change is that we’re never ever again gonna be able to be dominated by public officials who tell us, “Trust the experts,” because every American will be able to check their own medical advice.
They could check government advice as well.
Kennedy immediately reached for the Covid years:
