WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE PRICE OF GOLD?

WAR IS SCREAMING “BUY GOLD.” THE FED IS SCREAMING LOUDER.

War in the Middle East. Oil ripping higher. Inflation expectations climbing. The Fed boxed into a corner, with markets now pricing 63% odds of a September rate hike instead of a cut.

Every single one of those forces is supposed to send gold to the moon. So why is gold sitting $1,500 below its January peak?

THE TIMELINE THAT DOESN’T ADD UP—THE DOG THAT DIDN’T BARK

Gold hit its all-time high — just under $5,600 an ounce — on January 28, 2026. That was before a shot was fired.

Then, in late February, the US-Iran war broke out. Real shooting war. Oil spiked. Inflation fears spiked with it. And gold — the asset that’s supposed to be the panic button, the hedge, the thing you buy when the world catches fire — has been under constant pressure ever since. Today it’s trading around $4,067. Down over the past month. Down more than a quarter from the peak, while the war grinds on and the Fed talks about hiking instead of cutting.

I’ve been doing this a long time. I’ve watched gold and silver through enough cycles to know when two stories are fighting for control of the tape. Right now there are two: the war story, which says gold should be ripping, and the rate story, which says the Fed’s rate-hike odds and a stronger dollar are raising the cost of holding a metal that pays you nothing. Right now, the rate story is winning.

That won’t last forever. The moment the Fed blinks — and 63% odds of a September hike is not the same as a done deal — the war story takes the wheel back. That’s the setup I want you positioned for before it happens, not after.

SAME FORCE. OPPOSITE SIGN

This is the same setup I’ve been tracking in silver for months. The fundamentals scream one direction. The tape says another. And the gap between what should be happening and what is happening is exactly where the real money gets made — by the people who understand why the gap exists, and exactly when it closes.

That’s not a “read my Substack and feel informed” kind of edge. That’s a “know what to do with your capital before the crowd figures it out” kind of edge.
