This is who they are…
A Democratic congressional candidate who claims to offer “real accountability” for Hawaii voters ended up face-down on the sand after a chaotic confrontation at one of Maui’s popular beaches.
Kirill Basin, 40, was arrested Saturday at Keawakapu Beach in South Kihei and hit with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening. Bail was set at a staggering $1 million.

According to the Maui Police Department, the incident began when a 61-year-old man simply asked Basin to turn down his music. Basin allegedly responded by implying he had a firearm and threatening to shoot the man’s wife. A bystander stepped in. What followed was a physical altercation in which Basin allegedly armed himself with a knife, threatened multiple people, then tossed the blade into the ocean. The knife was recovered and turned over to officers.
Video circulating widely shows Basin taunting the group with the words “What you gonna do? What you gonna do?” before being dropped cold by a single punch.
This is proof you can’t take Democrats to the beach! A Democratic congressional candidate running against incumbent U.S. Rep. Jill Tokuda was arrested Saturday after a violent altercation at Keawakapu Beach in South Kihei.

This was not Basin’s first brush with law enforcement. Police say he has been arrested for other incidents of assault and property damage since May. Several people have obtained temporary restraining orders against him, including Maui County Council member Thomas Cook.
Cook said Basin “became aggressive and confrontational” and “threatened violence against the police” and a council ambassador after disrupting a May town hall meeting.
