According to ABC News, Noel was on duty at the Metropolitan Correctional Center the night Epstein died and is believed to have been among the last staff members to encounter him alive.
Although New York’s medical examiner officially ruled Epstein’s death a suicide, the case has remained the subject of widespread public skepticism due to numerous documented security failures, inconsistencies, and unanswered questions involving the handling of the high-profile inmate.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said lawmakers continue to pursue answers because many Americans remain unconvinced by the official conclusions surrounding the case.
“No one’s accusing her of any wrongdoing, but we have a lot of questions about Epstein,” Comer previously said during an interview with Fox News.
Federal prosecutors earlier alleged that Noel and another correctional officer failed to conduct required inmate welfare checks during the overnight shift when Epstein died. Prosecutors also accused the officers of falsifying official prison records to indicate that the mandatory checks had been completed.
Court filings alleged Noel spent portions of the shift browsing the internet instead of monitoring inmates housed in Epstein’s unit.
The criminal charges against both officers were later dismissed after they entered deferred prosecution agreements with federal authorities.
