The main point of homeschooling is to ensure children are not brainwashed with the malignant ideology that prevails in government schools. A New Jersey bill responds with liberals’ favorite tactic, coercion:
The proposal, which is still under review, would force homeschooling parents to submit a curriculum in line with state learning standards. That includes subjects like gender identity, sexual orientation, DEI and climate studies.
This means indoctrination with modern liberalism, prominently including the promotion of sexual depravity to children.

Texas and Missouri, which are both red states, have some of the loosest requirements, while New York, run by Democrats, enforces some of the strictest regulations.
A bill to impose tighter government control of homeschooling in Illinois failed when parents pushed back hard. New Jersey parents are encouraged to follow suit.
In June 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6–3 in Mahmoud v. Taylor that parents have the right to temporarily withdraw their children from public school lessons involving LGBTQ+ themes if those lessons conflict with their sincerely held religious beliefs.
The liberal education and media establishments are not pleased.
The three dissenting justices on Mahmoud v. Taylor were of course the three leftists: Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson.
