Guandolo says federal leaders have ignored threats tied to Islamist networks while silencing internal warnings.

Former FBI special agent John Guandolo has alleged that elements of the U.S. government have overlooked or suppressed intelligence related to the Muslim Brotherhood’s presence in American institutions.
In a video presentation circulated through independent media platforms, Guandolo claimed that the Muslim Brotherhood—a transnational Islamist organization—has advanced its influence in the United States through what he describes as “civilization jihad,” a term referencing gradual, non-violent subversion of Western systems.

Guandolo asserted that during his time at the FBI, he and other agents collected intelligence linking Brotherhood-affiliated individuals and groups to activities within the U.S., including within government, law enforcement, and the military. According to his account, senior leadership in federal agencies declined to act on some of these findings or limited internal investigations.
He further stated that political and agency leadership had engaged with organizations tied to the Brotherhood, despite prior FBI documentation identifying some of those groups as having connections to individuals or entities previously investigated for support to terrorism.
Guandolo, who later founded the security consultancy Understanding the Threat, has spoken publicly and in briefings about documents entered into evidence during the 2008 Holy Land Foundation trial. That case included exhibits referencing Muslim Brotherhood strategies for North America.
The Muslim Brotherhood is not formally designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. government, but some of its offshoots and affiliates, such as Hamas, have been designated as such by the State Department.
