President Trump links Deputy Attorney General to documents signed amid growing scandal over presidential authority

President Donald Trump on Tuesday suggested that Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco may have operated one of the controversial autopen devices used to sign executive actions during Joe Biden’s presidency—raising new questions amid a widening federal investigation into who wielded power in the White House while Biden was in office.

During an Oval Office wildfire briefing, Trump was asked whether Americans should expect more Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations following the recent mass arrests in Los Angeles. He responded affirmatively and accused the Biden administration of aiding illegal immigration, pointing specifically to Biden’s use of autopen-signed orders.
“We’re moving murderers out of our country that were put here by Biden, or the autopen… whether it’s Lisa Monaco or whoever operated the autopen,” Trump said, warning that any future riots would be “met with equal or greater force.” Watch the clip here:

Trump’s comment marks the first time a senior Biden Justice Department official has been directly named in connection with the use of the autopen, a mechanical device used to replicate the president’s signature on official documents.
Lisa Monaco has long been tied to high-profile investigations into Trump. Now, her possible involvement in the alleged misuse of presidential signing authority adds a new layer to the controversy.
The suggestion comes just days after Trump issued a Presidential Memorandum directing his White House Counsel David Warrington and Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate “whether certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unconstitutionally exercise the authorities and responsibilities of the President.”
The order also demands an inquiry into executive actions signed with autopens, the circumstances under which they were authorized, and the legitimacy of the resulting policy decisions.
This latest development follows a series of revelations from the Oversight Project. Last week, project director Mike Howell announced the discovery of a third distinct Biden autopen signature, reportedly used from the first week of Biden’s presidency to sign official proclamations. Howell explained the signature had been applied to documents including tariff adjustments and symbolic initiatives like “Trans Day of Visibility.”
