Last night I got a text message from my daughter, who works in a very upscale restaurant in a downtown North Carolina city. She sent a video (which I have no idea how to upload – sorry) and said there were more protesters outside than she had ever seen. As night began to fall, the protestors grew louder. Popping sounds were everywhere. So were the police, she told me, every few feet between the protestors and the downtown businesses. Multiple streets had to be shut down as “hundreds” to “thousands” of protesters took them over. (Depending which news agency you trust with the numbers.)

As a downtown employee, my daughter is not a newbie to protests occurring outside the restaurant window. But this time, she said, it was very different. There were more people than she’d ever seen and it was just a Wednesday night.
Wisely, instead of walking home like she generally does, she opted to sleep over at a coworker’s place in a high-rise only steps away from where she works. She said they made it there with no trouble whatsoever but both girls were extremely relieved to get inside.
One thing struck me. It’s only Wednesday. The “No Kings” protests are scheduled nationwide on Saturday, not coincidentally, the same time as President Trump’s long-awaited Grand Military Parade to celebrate the 250th birthday of the US Army.
Please note that this article is not a “prediction.” I didn’t peer into my crystal ball before writing it. I’m sharing what is already occurring and what is scheduled to occur. There is a definite trend of violence right now, and things like that are contagious. That trend could easily spread across the country, even into places where we don’t expect it.
It’s more important than ever to get early warnings. The secret weapon that I’ve used for years is a service called Alerts USA. This is a service that sends text message alerts directly to your phone when an event of national significance occurs. You get Homeland Security threat and incident notifications straight to your device. (Obviously, these are the unclassified warnings.) I have found this to be completely unbiased and factual and I strongly recommend it, especially in times like these.
What’s happened so far
In downtown Los Angeles, all hell has broken loose. Cars and structures are burning while people pelt police with rocks, bricks, and firebombs. Stores are being looted. Property is being destroyed. Federal agents are being targeted. Foreign flags are being waved in the midst of it all. T
he chaos was allowed to happen with little resistance until the President stepped in and deployed members of the National Guard to the city to keep the peace. This has been followed by 700 U.S. Marines deployed to the city.
