On May 8, 2025, American native Robert Francis Prevost age 69 was elected pope of the Conciliar Church and took the name of Leo XIV. While born in Chicago, Prevost spent a considerable amount of his priestly life in South America becoming a citizen of Peru in 2015. In 2023, Newpope Francis appointed him prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America and made him a cardinal in the same year.

Like his predecessor, Prevost is the second pope who was ordained a priest and consecrated a bishop in the new rites for priests and prelates which came into existence after the Second Vatican Council, 1962-65. A number of traditional theologians have contended that the new rites are invalid.
Any hopes of conservative and neoconservative Catholics that Prevost might be a conservative was quickly squashed in his first address. Many traditional Catholics believe that the popes after Vatican II are not true popes which makes the See of St. Peter “vacant” since these men hold and profess heretical views. Moreover, the invalidity of the post-Vatican II priesthood and the office of bishop disqualifies these men and renders them as simple laymen.
In his initial remarks on the Balcony of Saint Peter’s after his election, Prevost indicated that he would continue the work and vision of Bergoglio. While he took the traditional name of “Leo” and he wore the papal mozzetta when addressing the crowd, no one should be fooled that Prevost is even a moderate Catholic.
He chose to be named Leo in his words for his admiration of Pope Leo XIII’s (1878-1903) position on social and economic issues, which, in hindsight, were one of the weaker aspects of his pontificate, but will, no doubt, be used by the new pope to push his liberal agenda.
The use of traditional vestments, his fluency in Latin, and that he rarely speaks “off the cuff” as his buffoonish and often foot-in-the-mouth predecessor would do, will be a relief, but the substance of what he says and does will be the same. In fact, Prevost may be more dangerous than Bergoglio since his dignified veneer will hide his true Modernist colors. Similarities can be seen with him and Pope Benedict XVI.
In a clear acknowledgement of Bergoglio’s policies, the new pope said:
To all you brothers and sisters in Rome, in Italy,
throughout the world: we want to be a synodal
Church, a Church that moves forward, a Church that
always seeks peace, that always seeks charity, that
always seeks to be close about all those who are
suffering. *
A “Synodal Church” is what Bergoglio was in the process of turning the Church into during his abominable 12-year reign. Bergoglio wanted a Church run by committee with equal power distributed among the bishops with eventually the pope being a mere figurehead with the same authority as any other bishop – a clear contradiction to what its Divine Founder had proscribed.
In another nod to Bergoglio, it appears that Prevost is on board with his predecessor’s destructive support for open borders and mass immigration:
Together, we must look for ways to be a
missionary Church, a Church that builds bridges and
encourages dialogue, a Church ever open to welcoming,
like this Square with its open arms, all those who are in
need of our charity. . . .
It is funny that Bergoglio often spoke of bridges and criticized the idea of walls or barriers to restrict immigration until it was pointed out that Vatican City has massive walls surrounding it; the fortifications were begun during the reign of Pope St. Leo IV (847-855).
While none of the post-Vatican II popes have taken any serious steps to counter the Great Sex & Embezzlement Holocaust which is, despite little mainstream press coverage, still raging, it appears that it will be business as usual under Leo XIV. He has been accused of covering up priestly abuse cases in Chicago, and as bishop in the Diocese of Chiclayo in Peru as late as 2022.
The Vatican is also facing a severe monetary crunch with plunging contributions from the laity due to the doctrinal changes of Vatican II and the horrific crimes of its clergy against children.
