It is past time to reign in these deluded psychopaths.

Please, tell me these people are not violently insane, even nihilists.

Steve Clemons writes for Semafor, “The United States would destroy Taiwan’s highly sophisticated semiconductor industry rather than allow it to be captured if China ever successfully invaded the island, according to Donald Trump’s former National Security Advisor.”

If implemented, this would put an end to new computers, smartphones, and other necessary, often critical electronics—and deal a significant blow to the world economy.

    Alex Rubinstein writes,

Taiwan manufactures around 65 percent of the world’s semiconductors and close to 90 percent of advanced chips. Annually, a third of all new computing power generated globally is fabricated in Taiwan. The US National Security Council estimates that the loss of TSMC [Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company] “could disrupt the world economy to the tune of more than $1 trillion… TSMC’s advanced chips are used in “all major US defense systems and platforms,” making them an essential building block of American empire.

In other words, Robert C. O’Brien, the former NSC advisor, would destroy the Pentagon and the ability of the USG to defend itself. This insanity would be impossible if corporate America had not offshored technology manufacturing to Asia.

It is past time to reign in these deluded psychopaths. If we allow them to propose and act upon on self-destructive behavior endangering billions of people, humanity will pay a terrible, if not terminal price.
