Disgraced Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin demanded “justice” for a woman who negligently shot on the set of a New Mexico movie production in a bizarre video on Saturday, seeming to disregard the reality that he fired the “prop” gun that resulted in Halyna Hutchins’ death.

“The only way we can honor the death of Halyna Hutchins is to find out the truth. That’s what I’m working towards, insisting on, demanding, that the organizations involved in this investigation do everything in their power to find out what really happened.”
Baldwin has sought to cast blame on a weapons master on the set of Rust. A fundamental rule of firearms safety entails treating every gun as if it were loaded, regardless if a set propmaster told you it wasn’t or not. The single-action revolver Baldwin fired in the death of Hutchins had been referred to numerous times as a “prop,” despite being a real, functioning firearm.
Baldwin hit back at those blaming him for the cinematographer’s death with partisan political rhetoric, bringing up the January 6th riot at the US Capitol as if it were somehow relevant to the situation.
A district attorney and a sheriff’s department in New Mexico continue to actively investigate the October shooting, with Baldwin declining to hand over his phone to law enforcement. A Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Deputy is now working with law enforcement in New York to obtain Baldwin’s phone as part of the investigation, contrasting with claims on the part of Baldwin of cooperation with law enforcement.
Baldwin accused “right wing rag sheets” of indicating he wasn’t complying with the investigation, despite sources within law enforcement revealing to the New York Post that he had declined to turn over his phone without a warrant.
