It is clear from the questions asked and the testimony given during today’s hearing that the federal government is actively engaged in creating vaccine mandates for the pediatric and adult population.
Today during The HELP Committee (Health, Education, Labor and Pensions) hearing on “Vaccines Save Lives: What is Driving Preventable Disease Outbreaks?” we heard unanimous and unchecked testimony from U.S. Senators, state health department officials, doctors, businessmen and an 18-year old high school student that vaccines are safe, vaccines save lives, vaccines do not cause autism, and that all else is misinformation. Yes, that’s right, everyone with a voice in the Senate hearing unapologetically believes that the vaccine safety issue, unlike any other issue known to man, has one side and one side only.
Nevermind that all across the globe there are educated leaders–medical doctors, scientists, journalists, attorneys, activists, nonprofits– and countless advocates that reference scientific studies, public records, case studies, and government records to illuminate truth on “the other side.” Secretary of Health for the Washington State John Wiesman pleaded for urgent action to counter the anti-vaccine messages. Wiesman is in charge of the Clark measles outbreak where 71 people were diagnosed with measles. His plea hinged on the fact that it has cost over 1 million dollars to respond to the measles outbreak. Perhaps Mr. Wiesman is unaware that the 1 million spent making a crisis out of 71 measles cases pales in comparison to the 4 billion dollars the U.S. government has spent on compensating for permanent vaccine injuries.
Dr. Saad Omer of the Emory Vaccine Center surprisingly recommended that the federal government invest in vaccine safety research. Dr. Omer, however, also referred to the CDC as a “national treasure” and implored all pregnant women to give their baby the greatest gift possible: transferred immunity through vaccinations during pregnancy. Unfortunately, his glowing recommendation for vaccinations during pregnancy is now made public record even though no one was there to ask Dr. Omer about the 2017 study in JAMA pediatrics which showed an elevated risk of birth defects and autism in the offspring of mothers who received influenza vaccines during pregnancy.
Dr. Jonathan McCullers of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital gave a brief recitation of possible side effects from the MMR vaccine: 1 in 10 will get a fever; 1 in 3000 will have a simple seizure; and, allergic reactions are very rare. The danger of such a brief synopsis is that many could treat such a statement as exhaustive. The insert for the MMR vaccine has four plus pages of contraindications, warnings, precautions and adverse reactions. Why is there such a gap between Dr. McCullers facts and the product’s insert? Dr. McCullers emphasized that if we continue to allow non-medical exemptions for vaccinations then we will have tremendous problems. He also testified, “There is absolutely no evidence that vaccines cause autism.”
Ethan Lindenberger, an 18-year-old high school student, was present at the hearing to seemingly give his account of the illegitimacy of “anti-vaxxers” because his loving mother happens to be one. Ethan’s voice being used as an expert on this issue shows the desperation of the pharmaceutical industry, the government and the CDC to personify all medical professionals and parents that have concerns about vaccine safety. Doctors with decades of experience have been excluded from having an opinion on vaccine safety, yet a young man that was a child just a few days ago is an expert backed by the U.S government.
We must thank the only brave dissenter in the room Senator Rand Paul for offering that the flu vaccine is often guess work and that “[he does not] favor giving up on liberty for a false sense of security.”
Please respond to the hearing and let your Senator know that you were listening. Make it abundantly clear that their chief concern of “vaccine hesitancy” will never be resolved if the right questions are not asked to bring clarity. If the government leaders truly believe there is only one side to the issue and the goal is to widely disseminate truth, then let them not shy away from asking the hard questions in a public forum. We must continue to write, call and meet with our representatives. Encourage them to bring resolve to the following concerns:
- If vaccines are safe then why has the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program awarded more than $4 billion dollars in damages to vaccine injured children and adults?
- If vaccines do not cause autism, why does record after record in the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program cases cite “brain damage” that leads to intellectual regression as compensable damages?
- Why has the incidence of autoimmune disease gone from 10% to over 46% in children in the last 30 years? Does it not make sense to question the one drug that directly affects the immune system?
- What did Senator Alexander mean when he said, “Vaccines meet the gold standard for safety?” Please see the lack of safety information produced by the CDC in response to ICAN’s request for safety information: https://icandecide.org/governments/
