by Karl Denninger, Market Ticker:
The choice is ours folks.
It isn’t the media’s choice, or politician’s choice. They respond to the “marketplace”, not the other way around.
The marketplace says identity politics and victimhood for certain people and certain incident, but not others, sells.
We either stop this — and do it now — or the spiraling out of control that has taken over this nation is going to lead to one group or another picking up guns and using them — not on one person at a time, but in a ginned-up and unwarranted rage. Those who they intend to use them against will, justifiably, fight back — and, as soon as the rest of us figure out that this is not a one-off but rather a seismic shift that fighting back will become offensive and preemptive in nature rather than defensive.
That’s civil war.
Probably not the way you think of it, ala 1860s-style — but rather the dirty sort ala Rwanda.
The sort of civil war where you walk to your mailbox and some jackwad assassinates you from a quarter-mile away without warning. Your son, who watched your head explode while trying to get the mail, then goes hunting for whoever did it — or whoever he thinks did it.
That’s how it starts and once it starts it will be very hard to stop until a huge percentage of the population is dead and our economy has and political system has been destroyed.
Jussie’s “story” was interesting only because he is gay and black and the alleged accused were obviously white MAGA-hat wearing hicks. The 220 shot in Chicago thus far this year, and the 36 dead, aren’t interesting because most of them are blacks shot by other blacks — indeed, nearly three quarters are black even though only a third of the population of the city is.
This is outrageous but nobody cares because it doesn’t fit the intention of those who wish to gin up a civil war.
Jussie Smollett was so irked that a threatening letter he received didn’t spark enough outrage that he hired two men to stage a hate attack against him, according to a report on Monday.
Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the investigation pointed to the letter as a potential motive in the “Empire” star’s baffling case, CBS Chicago reported.
“When the letter didn’t get enough attention, he concocted the staged attack,” a source told the network.
What if Jussie was involved in sending the original letter?
It’s not just PageSix that’s talking about that either — so is Chicago’s local CBS affiliate.
Running not just this alleged assault but the original sender(s) of the letter down and jailing everyone involved in federal prison isn’t optional — it’s necessary and we must insist it happens in this and every other similar case.
I continue to hold a sliver of hope that the dots that continue to feel so far apart will eventually connect and the picture before us will show he was telling the truth all along. I hold hope that those faint whispers that began almost as quickly as the story made its way across the networks will be silenced, that Smollett will be vindicated. And the people who took to social media to demand justice for him will not be left to look like fools.
I continue to hold a sliver of hope?
What does the author hold a sliver of hope for — civil war? That’s what is being “hoped” for here and if we don’t cut the crap that’s exactly what we’re going to get.
News isn’t supposed to hold “slivers of hope”; it’s supposed to be, well, news. Who, what, when, where, why and, finally, how.
We have seen a spate of these alleged “hate crimes” that are breathlessly reported without a single shred of skepticism. This has rapidly increased since Trump was elected. For instance, a Muslim woman in Michigan claimed that a drunk man threatened to light her on fire if she did not remove her hijab. It was a hoax.
A bisexual woman claimed “hateful notes and emails” were sent to her — it was a hoax.
A woman in Philadelphia claimed a bunch of “Trump supporting white men” pulled a weapon on her, claiming they wouldn’t have to deal with “n….s” much longer. It was a hoax.
A Muslim woman in Louisiana claimed two white men, one with Trump hat on, robbed her while yelling racial slurs. It never happened; she admitted to the cops she made it up.
A Church organist vandalized his own church and the media blamed it on Trump.
Another Muslim woman in NY claimed she was attacked by Trump supporters in NYC (are there any?) She later admitted she made it all up.
The common thread behind all of these hoaxes, including the Covington case, is that they’re all predicated on identity politics and outright bigotry.
This is in fact lynching and it’s being aimed at, primarily, white males.
It is in fact no different than the propaganda that is run by people trying to gin up support for actual wars, and it will lead to the same result if it isn’t stopped.
