Let me begin by making a couple of things clear at the outset. I am not a fan of Rap music, therefore I never paid much attention to Rap stars or celebrities. I am more a classic Rock fan, so sue me! Secondly, just because Kanye West is awakening a whole generation to the thought that they don’t have to “belong” to one party or the other, they are not “victims” just because they were born a certain race, does not make him a conservative. He is not.
On the flip side, his recent foray into politics by announcing he was free to “think” for himself, thank you very much, and everyone else should be just as free, and the massive attacks against him by celebrities, other black musicians, liberals, and now a direct attack by Democratic politician Maxine Waters, shows pretty conclusively that he is not a full-fledged liberal either, he is more like an Independent, speaking up and out about issues, rather than allowing any party to force him to follow the party line.
With all that said, kudos must be given to Kanye for opening up a national discussion, in a huge way, ever since he uttered the “seven words that broke the Internet,” when he he praised conservative Director of TPUSA Candace Owens, by saying “I love the way Candace Owens thinks.”
MAXINE WATERS: KANYE “TALKS OUT OF TURN” – “NEEDS ASSISTANCE” THINKING
While liberals, Democratic politicians, and others are having an absolute temper tantrum that Kanye has said things supportive of President Trump, the real offense that has outraged them all, is that he has continued to insist that everyone has the right to think for themselves, they don’t have to stay in their “mental prisons,” no one has the right to tell them what to think, how to think, what to say, how to say it or what “party” they have to belong to in order to fit in. All this and more can be found on his Twitter timeline.
How do we know he is being heard, that his younger fans are listening, learning, paying attention and taking his words to heart? He shares the messages they send him, like the one shared last night which said “I have been reading your tweets and seen your interviews: you are opening the eyes of the people of the world. Kids at school are talking about you in such a respectful way. We all have been slaves of something, scared of something, addicted from something. You are helping us to be free….”
That right there is why Democrats are petrified of Kanye and why he is being attacked, or as he states “demonized.”
Don’t think for one second Democratic politicians aren’t paying attention, because they are. Over 80 percent of African Americans automatically vote for Democrats, with 88 percent in the 2016 presidential election having voted for Hillary Clinton, and Kanye, using his celebrity status is challenging that, without even bringing actual politics into the discussion, he is doing it by preaching “love” and “free thought,” new ideas…. basically challenging the status quo.
Evidence of how closely Democrats are paying attention and terrified of his message, comes from Maxine Waters, a Democratic politician ranked as “one of the nation’s “most corrupt” members of congress by the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington,” as highlighted by The Daily Caller.
“Kanye West is a very creative young man who has presented some of the most revolutionary material in the African-American community. But we also think that sometimes Kanye West talks out of turn and perhaps sometimes he needs some assistance in helping him to formulate some of his thoughts.
We don’t think that he actually means to do harm, but we’re not sure he really understands the impact of what he’s saying, at the time that he’s saying it and how that weighs on, particularly the African American community — and for young people in general. And I think maybe he should think twice about politics, and maybe not have so much to say.”
Think about that for a second…… Waters is basically telling Kanye to sit down, shut up and get his butt back to the Democratic plantation. Not only that, but think about the contrast of what he is saying, compared to what she is saying. He is telling people to think freely for themselves and she is saying he needs assistance in thinking? Why? Because he is not thinking the way she wants him to think.
I also vehemently disagree with Auntie Maxine, Kanye understands exactly what he is doing, and other than creating controversy before the release of his new album(s), he is deliberately doing it now and specifically targeting the African American community because he is tired of seeing the black community being “controlled” by the media and the Democratic party.
While not responding directly to Waters by name, his most recent statements certainly fit as a response, so he most probably was told or saw her comments.
Last night, after Waters comments were published by multiple outlets, he tweeted up a storm, including a quote by Harriet Tubman, a woman born into slavery, who escaped, and then conducted over a dozen missions to free other enslaved individuals.
I freed a thousand slaves I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves. – Harriet Tubman
West also pointed out “once again I am being attacked for presenting new ideas.” Other random comments from Monday evening include: “we are programmed to always talk and fight race issues. We need to update our conversation,” and “They cut out our tongues so we couldn’t communicate to each other. I will not allow my tongue to be cut.”
RESPONDING TO MEDIA ATTACKS
In his recent TMZ interview, West had some scathing comments about the MSM, saying “When they refer to fake news because it can be skewed and stuff, it is like the media and the liberals and the echo chamber and all that is having the most sore loss of all time.” He refers to their constant attacks on President Trump by stating “It’s like torture porn. We are going to keep showing you negative, negative, negative, negative, negative, when — these are human beings.”
